Yay!

I find the Blip stuff to be pretty tacky now, but it is interesting to see how the marketing apparatus of that age treated video games compared to how they are treated now. I loved that video games were "the hott new thing" once upon a time, and now we have a Spike video game awards show. Like they went from zero to "it's been done" in less time than any other major cultural phenomenon I've ever seen. It was fun to be part of it all back at the beginning. Plus, WALTER DAY!

Why is everybody taking my opinion so seriously? You're making me uncomfortable!

If Andre posted more frequently I'd be content to be a mini-Dellamorte. But seeing as that isn't the case, mini-C it is :P

I love that Pym is like literally a millimeter away from the screen, too. Doesn't he know that's bad for his eyesight? Some scientist. No wonder he BEATS HIS WIFE.

And ryoken, you should be ashamed of yourself. Next time, redraw the panels, and I want to see Reed Richards in PROPER perspective, and with a mustache.

So he was never in love with her.
I bet the sex was good, though.

Well, they say older women are more experienced...so yeah, she would have wrecked Doc Ock and his four metal friends more than her nephew ever did.

Wait just a tic...I thought the Ant-Man wife beating thing was an invention of the Ultimate storyline/reboot/whatever they started a few years back. That looks like it's from the 70s. Who was originally responsible for this?

Christ, am I surrounded by 13 year olds here?!

I ain't sayin' he a gold digger.....

lol come on Millar doesn't have original ideas.
Pym was written as a wifebeater in the MIGHTY MARVEL MANNER long before he came along.

He was going to dig more than gold later that night.
I still cant believe there isnt a "What if...?" version of that story:

"Waddaya say if I put on the arms and we play some softball on the backyard, petey?"
"SHUT UP! I HATE YOU!"
"Im going to quadruple spank your sorry butt, you little prick!"
"Peter! treat you stepuncle with respect!"

You kids today with your Scott Pilgrims and your Venoms!
To clarify, I haven't read any of the ultimate stuff. But I never knew about the wife beatin' until I saw it referenced on the internet, and it shocked me that it happened during or before the period when I read Avengers (basically, the 80s).

bigger than Countdown? Ultimatum was pretty bad.

Countdown at least can excuse itself on being editor plagued (Didio himself said Countdown would avoid all the errors from 52...the fuck?) and being a weekly, 52 issue effort.
Ultimatum took an entire line and killed most off an entire universe of underdeveloped characters with a lot of potential, all for the sake of shock value...and the amount of disregard for characterization and continuity is downright insulting consedering how "new2 the ultimate line was at the moment.

Who is Bat-Caballo?

Yeah, I didn't realize that the wife-beating happened pre-Ultimates either. But it goes to show just how obnoxious the need to tie everything together with continuity can be. Instead of just letting it slide, it becomes a major plot point, and it tarnishes the fun of superheroes.

Did we ever get an epic multi-issue storyline explaining what made the Sub-mariner decide to pose as a film director in order to trap the Fantastic Four that one time? Because that totally needs to be rationalized in terms of the Sub-mariner's existing characterization. That's the kind of thing that would haunt you.

I thought I was something of a Marvel geek, too. This Onion article hit way too close to home, for instance. But I am apparently a rank amateur compared to some of the old heads on the Chud block.

Incidentally, it always tickles me when once or twice a year, curmudgeonly ol' Millette lets his nerd hair down and gives it a good shake.

It's mostly just an age thing. I barely know shit about what's been happening for the past ten years.
