What an excellent idea!
I haven't played MOON yet, but what I heard about it got me thinking... and this could also apply to 2001 to a certain extent, I suppose. What if you'd take a pretty straight (though scifi) space shuttle simulator, where you have to go through the motions of a space mission in a realistic fashion, but as you go along an underlying narrative concerning your character is developed.
All in all, I'm surprised there's still so few companies that think out of the box like that, concept-wise. A highlight of last generation for me was BULLY... it took a very mundane plot and turned it into a thrilling adventure, through great production value (still one of the best OST I own), inventive subgames and loads of references to a wide range of movies and media in general. I'd love to see more of that on current gen.
