Perfect Dark XBLA

I'm sure we had a thread on this but I couldn't Darkmite it.

http://www.destructoid.com/this-is-w...e-152626.phtml

It looks surprisingly great for an old game. Perfect Dark was my favourite game on the N64, I honestly felt it had a great campaign and one of the best multiplayers, so I'm really looking forward to this.

Anyone looking forward to some Farsight action?

I think this is a lot less clouded by nostalgia than Goldeneye and its multiplayer may hold up surprisingly well. The sheer number of options they crammed into the original was absolutely insane. It was only crippled by blurry textures or a shitty framerate, depending on whether or not you turned on "hi-res" on the N64. Looking forward to playing a smooth and crisp version of it, finally.

Everything Floyd mentioned, plus a 360-optimized control scheme? Shit, you're looking at a Game of the Year there. The laptop gun, Farsight, and camera controlled rocket launcher by themselves put some newer FPSs to shame.

When's this happening, again?
All I need is a release date, Point price and file size.

ALso, love the Farsight's make over.

Just wanted to say that IMHO PD is way better than Golden Eye. Golden Eye is the nostalgic favorite... but BD had better missions, weapons, more options, smarter bad guys, better graphics, better multiplayer (with bots!). So cool to see the game coming to XBL

Frothing at the mouth for this.

I recently bough Perfect Dark Zero for 5 dollars.

It was not worth 5 dollars.

800pts? what a steal!
PDZ is pretty bad.
This was one of the handful of N64 games I had back in the day, I love the hell out of this game. Can't wait to play this on my 360.

The only bad news: Comes out day after God of War 3.

Whatever mystery ailment I'm coming down with on the 16th might last all week.
Just bumping this to remind anybody who cares that this should be available to us all very soon. I will be all over this.
Thursday.

And yeah, this will definitely be able to pry me off of God of War guilt free if the reviews can be believed.

I'm holding out to see whether or not Game Room will be ass.

And could Rare be any more proud for porting a ten year old game? The way they've been previewing it makes it seem like they're ecstatic that they have a release that had a less than five year development cycle.
Theyre ecstatic for having a game currently on the market they won't have to atone for in the next life.

Pure greatness there, Justin.
Never played PD more than a couple times, but if there's enough chewers in, we should have a few retro throwdown matches.
Thats is, when i'm done painting my living room and get back on live, dammit!

Fairly certain this has the Facility map and Licence To Kill mode from Goldeneye, soooo I basically don't need a Goldeneye remake anymore.
Have mentioned how much I've missed camera controlled rockets? Because I missed camera controlled rockets.

Psyched psyched psyched.

They took out the ranged RC Rockets?
Not long to go, and forever it shall have a permanent place on my hard drive (next to Duke Nukem 3D)

I eagerly await for the first "teenage live bastard" meltdown over being killed bu the laptop gun.
It's probably the same meltdown I used to get playing Engineer in Team Fortress 2, and the blue team finding out there's a sentry at the entrance of their base that just refuses to die.

God damn I love that meltdown.
RC Rockets. Laptop Gun. Farsight.

Ahhh man good times. Glad they've fixed the framerate, it was my only real gripe with the multiplayer. Especially split screen.

Is it just as good as the "defending your base is camping!" meltdown I've experienced?
I bet its even better.
oh god yesssssss, download it all over my hard-drive.

it's up folks, finally!

A man after my own heart.

Was it you who assisted me in pinning the other team in their base on 2Fort at one point?

I hope to be shooting fly by wire rockets into all your faces this weekend.
Oh yeah. Favorite thing in the world is stealthing my way into the other fort, hiding behind the far wall on the other end of the room with a dispenser at my back, putting the sentry up at the door, and just waiting for the screams/people who have no business playing the Spy trying to sneak past me, to no avail.
Still plays like a dream, for me anyway.
It's wonderful. Has it's problems, but if you dug the old one... it's still great. Some of the level design is horrible, but compared to Zero it's fantastic.

Also... only 4 sims instead of 8. Ruined my "Kill Lucas" plan, but for 10 bucks you could do SO MUCH worse.

Gain a few levels in the COMBAT SIMULATOR challenges will unlock the the other 4 Sims, along with Hard sims.
Oh nice! Thanks I'll work on that.
So this game's good, then?
It's the original with HD textures, online, and a good framerate. If that sounds good to you, then yes.
So I never played Perfect Dark the first time around. I played the hell out of Goldeneye, however, and loved it. I got pretty deadly in multiplayer after playing that for hours and hours, too.

Sell me on this one, I need the encouragement.
Laptop Gun. That's all you need, Mushnik.
There is a fuckton more stuff to unlock, bonus challenges, etc. in this game than I remember. The level design on some of the "story" stages is really unfortunate(I'm on the Chicago stage now), but I'm having a great time just the same.

The laptop gun is still amazing. I can't believe what they tried to pass off as the laptop gun in PDZ. What a weak piece of crap.
That's more or less what I needed to know. I couldn't stand the level design in the original game (the later stages reached Halo-levels of awfulness), but it's good to hear the game at least rewards you for your progress.
