Lately I've been going through a Lynch stride on Netflix and am about to finish off Twin Peaks on Friday when I get Fire Walk with Me.
If this show told me anything it's that we'll probaby ever get anything as good on television as the pilot for Twin Peaks. Everything just works and it's the most unique looking show I've seen. First season is a solid win. Second season is just as good up until Ray Wise departs. Aside from bits like David Duchovny's appearance, the middle section with Cooper/drug case and with a lot of sub-plots I couldn't give a shit about (such as James Hurley on the road) is a real drag. However it's starting to pick up in the last few episodes with Windom Earl surfacing and I like Heather Graham's Annie Blackburn (though I would have liked to see the original plan with Audrey, but I buy Cooper's attraction to Annie (Billy Zane with Audrey seems pointless)).
I'll return to this thread to discuss more Twin Peaks after I finish the flick, I'm so drawn to this whole world that I find it a real shame that it was never fully realized as originally intended. It's too much for one film, and I don't see how it can stretch as a long TV series. Maybe a single season deal with 26 episodes might have done justice.
