It's a combo of 1 and 3. Depends on how i catch the article first.
Same as Tati, but leaning more towards 1.
1 and 3, more often 1 than 3, especially early in the morning. The board's a little easier to browse at work in case someone pops into my office (less image-heavy, obviously, so it doesn't cause too much suspicion) so I go that route when I'm dicking around on breaks/downtime.

Same; I bookmarked the "New Posts" hyperlink back when the front page was wonky and it stuck.

Also, none of us seem to understand the concept of "anonymous."

No guilt here. It's probably the "I don't really read the front page" people who aren't going to want to cop to it. And we will sit in wait. Silently judging. And waiting.

My first read of the front page might be through a MB thread, but once I'm at the front page, I do a sweep of the day's news. But once in a while there are certain things (I think a recent book review, maybe) I wouldn't have seen on the front page if not for the MB thread.
1 and 3 - I feel like that's the best way to not miss anything.
The days that we get a LOT of new content, if it's not for the MB, i couldn't catch all of it.
The design and more specially, the space for content on the front page kinda sucks. Things get lost really quickly.
I make it a point to read every article on the front page first, then hit the boards. Usually, though, since I hit the boards late in the day, all the valid points have been made already in the main threads, so I usually have nothing new to contribute.
I read it left to right. Doesn't everyone?
80% .1 20% .3.

This.

I usually check out front page every day more than once, so it's 1 for me. Otherwise I go to the boards (instead of news or reviews sections) to find articles I might have missed.
1, 2, and 3.
First one mostly.
I tend to come to the MB first. Either my User CP or the New Posts page (which btw never works on my Android phone, oh fickle internet gods!) If a thread links to an interesting main page article I go there and then I usually stay and check out everything new once I'm over there. That system seems to work out for me pretty good.

With Q Lazarus's "Goodbye Horses" on a continuous loop.

What's the difference to the site between the options?
Mainly browsing the forums = obviously problematic. Probably less likely to link frontpage articles/discuss them. Etc.
If I didn't write for the site I probably would come to the messageboards first. Just a scroll through the Main section shows more news than the front page does. And once it's off the sidebar it's impossible for people to find anything, especially in the MCP section.
If people want thetruly...Technical definition, I read...CHUD.COM on my...Computer! First I read...The Front Page, then I go on the Forums.

Yeah, combination of 1 and 3. Usually I'll go to the mainpage via whatever the latest news is on the boards, and then I'll spend a while catching up on stuff I've missed.
I hit the main page first, read the articles that are there, then I go to the forums. From there I check out articles based on the new posts in the main forum.

MB -> New Posts. Work my way through the articles. I feel I don't miss anything that way.

I haven't setup an RSS for my google homepage yet, but I will because I read other news and blog sites that way.

QFT.

I'm a RSS guy. I wish there was more done with RSS. For instance, a blog-esque preview (the full article like /film would be great, but I understand why that probably isn't feasible.

Also I'm one of those that believe that there is a significant portion of message board people who have no clue what the main page looks like.
I usually just read through the news section.
Mostly 1, the occasional 3, and though I do subscribe to the RSS in Google Reader, I don't really need to, because CHUD tends to be the first page I come to whenever I open Firefox.
RSS feed and a widget on Google.
I have a bookmark directly to the News section, so the closest for me is option 1.

Truth but,

Always...

Google
site:chud.com

BTW with Chrome awesome address bar it's hard to recall how you surf the interweb... CHUD main page is a thumbnail for me anyway

I will often pick up reviews from Devin's Twitter feed. Mainly cause I check Twitter more than I check CHUD. (For comparison, I don't even check Hitfix the site, I just pick up articles from Drew's Twitter feed)

Other than that, I'm split between 1 and 3.
I am an RSS guy, and agree with Jcassady: would be great to have more of a preview.

I'd also be down for an ad-sponsored full article feed, but I have no idea how RSS ads work, and perhaps it's not worth the trouble.

To get to the page you linked, first someone would have to click on Editorials (which isn't the most logical step to find video game reviews and news), then on that page click on Master Control Program (which assumes you get the Tron reference).

I don't mean this as a dig, but maybe replacing the "Stories" banner link (there hasn't been a new "story" for 18 months with a "Video Games" link could help.

Through the message board. The main page is a nightmare.
I never go to the message boards first. I always go to the main page. If I see there are an excess of news items accumulated off the sidebar, I go to the News section up top.

Message boards are an after-thought.

Ditto, with a 2:1 ratio.

A combo of 2 and 3. I have CHUD's news and reviews set up in Google Reader, but sometimes I'll see a thread for something on the boards before I see the RSS feed and click to the article that way.

I've been asked about a half dozen times from game publicists how to get to the section... it's definitely not easily found. The site:chud.com google thing works, of course, but how many people know that trick?
Homepage=main page. It's messy but it's just always there. I usually feel late to the party on the boards/have nothing to add even though I do lurk a lot, just don't read the site that way.
Usually 3. It's just easier to go to the CHUD.COM MAIN forum section than it is to check the main page, particularly if it's been a few days and stories have been pushed off. Once I'm on the main page, I continue on to whatever catches my eye there.
Through the boards. The sidebar shows 12 articles to read, the boards show a lot more. Once I'm on the main page if anything catches my eye, I'll click.
I'm a "1, then 3" guy, too. Sometimes I miss stories that are along the top banner because I'm trained to go straight to the sidebar. It's probably unimportant at this point but did you guys ever figure out why stories don't show up in the sidebar if they're featured in the top banner?

It's kind of a ritual for me with any of the sites I frequently visit. I go to the main page, open the articles in separate tags, read them and then go to the forum.
I responded 1 because I usually start on the front page. I usually get to the front page through 2, though (well, through twitter). Then, as others have mentioned, on big news days, I find stuff on the message boards (3) and click, through to articles I missed. And I sometimes do a little of 3 anyway (an article that didn't seem interesting from the title becomes interesting when I see some of the posts about it).

So, 1, 2, and 3.

Some weeks ago, Devin said not all the articles will get a thread.
It would be better if the main page had thumbnails for every news.

Mostly this. CHUD is my homepage, so I usually just boot up Firefox and scan the sidebar for anything I haven't read. So once it goes off the sidebar, it's kind of a bitch to find...

Kind of like Alex says.

Not impossible, but to catch everything, you'd have to click through News, Reviews, Editorial (and every sub-category in Editorial), etc. For a lot of people, that's more trouble than it's worth. So I'll come to the home page, click through stories in the sidebar (mostly because that's how I've done it for the 8+ years I've been reading CHUD, I'm Pavlovian that way), then go to the boards. If I see something in here that I missed on the main page, I'll click the link from the board page.

Front page first, usually click on every article, though I don't necessarily read each one to conclusion, depending on the topic. Then the forums.
