How much do you have to hate black folks to turn down their entry fees and the revenue from food/drink just because you can't stand the idea of a drop of black in a sea of white? And in this economy. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. But, I guess racists have never been accused of having common sense...

Fucking Gold Coast. A buddy of mine is a bouncer at Mothers II (cuz, y'know one ain't enough) and they're told to be "exclusive" about who they let in. Nevermind that the bar has hints of Pine Sol and vomit.

There's a black woman sitting behind the white guy inside the bar in that pick. So they weren't completely racist

Sadly after having lived in Vegas for a number of years I ran into this sort of thing a bit. In their fear that young black males will start some shit, clubs have come up with these extra tough dress codes.

I wonder if any of their white classmates stopped partying in the club and left in protest?

There was a place down here near Rice University that was pulling the same act. Mexican or black, and you got no entrance. It went on for a couple weekends, was on the news, then people decided to test them and it got violent. The next weekend I was invited to a birthday party that started at the bar down the street, and ended at the racist bar. HPD was stacked outside, and one was at the door making sure anyone got in that wanted to.

Please tell me that wasn't the Gingerman.

I'm just relieved it wasn't in Louisiana. I'm still smarting from that "Justice" of the Peace asshole...but truth be told the "dress code" violation is used here as well. Just being "exclusive" not racist.

Don't even remember the name. It was next door to Woodrow's Ice House (fucking ugh) and the worst goddamn "Irish Pub" I've ever seen. Many popped collars and tilted ball caps. It was not the Gingerman though, no.

Thank Christ, I love the Gingerman, although I haven't been in a while.

What? This seems logical to me. You know how these people get when they're around alcohol.
You're clearly confusing them with Indians. They're the ones who can't hold their alcohol.

I was talking about the Irish actually. I assume this bar doesn't let the Irish in. Am I wrong?

"Justice" Scalia says we should have kept schools segregated instead of "inventing" freedoms.

Days like these I tend to think Jefferson was right about coming up with a new constitution every few decades. You can bet your ass a new constitution would throw this bum out and disbar him.

Fucking place should be closed down.

Huh. This sounds like the plot of an It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia episode.

Unfortunately for me, Ive been there once. It blows (like that matters). I had no trouble getting in, but Im usually with an even mix of white and black folks.

There's bars around here that won't let you in if you're wearing baggy jeans, a sports jersey of some kind, or a baseball cap, but they turn away the white guys too.

Clicked on the link. Huffpo has now corrected their story because the source (Phoenix's East Valley Tribune) got it completely ass-backwards wrong: Scalia Misquoted on Brown v. Board of Eductation (CORRECTED)

Quote:
CORRECTION: An item posted here -- reporting that Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia said that if he were on the court in 1954, he would have dissented in the landmark Brown vs. Board of Education decision that ended school segregation based on race -- was incorrect.

The original report, in Phoenix's East Valley Tribune has been changed.

Yale Law School Professor and blogger Jack Balkin writes: "Here is the video of the event:

"At 23:45 Justice Scalia.... says that he stands with Justice Harlan, who dissented in Plessy v. Ferguson. He argues that the original meaning of the Fourteenth Amendment prohibits racial discrimination."

Good for Huffpo to correct this and leave the original incorrect story there for reference.
