Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time

Just got this yesterday and am pleasently suprised. While I'll be the first to admit that the Ratchet & Clank series is pretty much the same game with a few tweaks in each release, this one feels the most unique of the bunch.

What really is a welcome change is that now Clank shares about equal game time as Ratchet. The levels alternate between the two, so that once you finish the typical shoot em up of a Ratchet you then play as clank in a type of puzzle platforming where you have to manipulate time to get through.

I'd recommend this most recent iteration of the series to anyone looking for some good platform gaming, but for those who lost their liking of the series's repetitive nature I'd say that this one is at least worth a rental to see if the abundance of Clank changes things up enough for your liking.

While I bought R&CF:Tools of Destruction, there's no way I'm spending $60 on another R&C game. They're just too short and too easy. I'll pick it up when I can find it for like $20-30 or rent it.

I see your point about the most recent installments being too short and I have yet to finish the game so I can't comment there, but this new game allows you to pick the difficulty when you start which shows they are trying to address your second complaint.

I do however feel that this game is much better than the previous three and might be worth putting in your gamefly queue, although I don't doubt that within a year this will be put on the PlayStation's greatest hits list. To tell you the truth I wouldn't normally have purchased it off the bat but Best Buy's buy 2 get 1 free sale convinced me.

The other two games I purchased were Brutal Legend and Demon's Souls

Yeah, I picked up Borderlands (which I love), Beatles Rock Band, and Fallout 3 GOTY. I want to play this but I wanted the other games more and I certainly don't need to spend another $120 on video games.

One of the more bitter pills about going with an Xbox over a PS3 was losing this series. The commercials are just killing me. Though I'll probably solve this dilemma right after Christmas.

Despite ranging toward the easier and shorter end of the scale, this and the SLY COOPER games were among the very few I could revisit again and again on the PS2.

I still think R&C part 2 was one of the best g'damn games on the PS2, but pt 3 & Tools... were indeed too much of the same, and too little challenge.

I'm hearing great things about Crack, but I only just got a PS3 and there's a whole bunch of great games now in budget that I still have to get through. By the time I've finished my current wish list, this one'll automatically be budget itself.

ETA: What I really need, however, is a JAK game on the PS3. Jak 3 had my favourite gaming world on any system ever, and if Naughty Dog apply what they've learned on Uncharted to this IP, it could result in the best goddamn scifi fantasy epic this world has ever known.
