24 Season 8 - Page 3

We've had plenty of seasons where the first four hours are OMG FUCKING AWESOME and then slide into shit for the next 12...I kinda like how this one is starting off at a slow burn, putting the pieces in place for something really big that will probably take place around episode 12.
Really hate the redneck storyline. Although it is hilarious that Starbuck keeps randomly slipping in and out of the Southern Accent.

Yeah, that needs to end soon. Give us our crisis moment between the rednecks and Prinze and move on.

I like how everything else is developing, though.

Yeah, I kept waiting for for the Russian dude (Ashby from CALIFORNICATION -- nice casting!) to jam a finger in her ear and rip it out. Is the fucking thing invisible or microscopic?
All the accents are all over the place. Specially the Russian ones. Just terrible.

Now, these episodes so far.. BORING as fuck. Slow slow slow with way too much b and c storyline that's not interesting at all.
Starbuck needs to go... by the way, she would have been hauled in and questioned as a mole by now in the old CTU. I miss soul patch Tony.

Little disappointed so far but I have confidence things are going to develop in the next hour or two to make things a little more interesting.

True. Last season really took a solid 6-7 episodes to take off.
You have to be kidding. Last season we had Tony as the bad guy for the first 2 episodes, then episode 3 where Jack breaks him out of FBI was one of the best of the series and episode 4 we had mini CTU team of Tony, Jack and Bill going in to raid a place.

It was pretty awesome.

Yep, that's what made me so excited about this season and why I'm let down. The only reason I'm optimistic is because they always have a mid-season lul and I'm thinking they tried to write around it and make the mid more interesting... otherwise ????

Starbucks storyline is worse then the fucking cougar.

It was pretty awesome.
But then we had four or five episodes of them chasing lame-o African terrorist with the clueless girlfriend.
It's the weakest start since Season 4, certainly.

But then, I thought Season 4 turned out to be pretty awesome, so I have faith. I'm digging the Renee/Bauer dynamic a lot.
There's no excuse for a season of a show to have a weak beginning, middle or end, especially after eight seasons.

EDIT: Which is to say, that after eight seasons, if they don't know how to make an entire season, not just PARTS of a season, exciting and dynamic, then well...fire your writers and hire new ones.
Not much change yet. Except for the surplus of rape.
It got better towards the end, i have hopes for next episode.

Oh it's so bad. Did laugh at Chloe's ass line though.
This season has been most appalling. Every week I tune back in to see some quality Bauer Power and every episode so far (except the first one where he threw a guy down some stairs) has disappointed. Do the writers honestly think that their stupid CTU characters and russian drama is interesting? Next episode looks like its cranking up the heat something fierce! I think I caught a glimpse of Jack shooting at a wall.
Radiation doctor -- another glorious addition to the Hall of Fame of utterly-screwed 24 red shirts.

I'm truly sick of CTU's sleazy, goateed Jay Baruchal clone already. Maybe Starbuck will have to shoot him.
I am hoping he sacrifices himself, yet is somehow able to take out redneck from redneck's past and redneck accomplice in some twisted gesture of tech geek chivalry. Kind of like when Milo ate a bullet for the CTU director voted prettiest hair three years running, but deadlier.
Lame except for the last minute and a half.

I've given up on this show... I'll catch up after I've buffered several hours in the DVR.
Caught up this season of 24, and I agree that its been mostly lackluster. Hopefully its building to something, but the flow has been working so far. It just sucks Jack Bauer is still in grandpa mode, I hope he goes crazy and flips out and takes the whole situation in his hands.

I was really hoping for Kiefer to pull a Ford from Blade Runner and act all sleezy as the buyer. Still it was pretty neat to see Buffy's husband as backup and I'm slowly buying him as credible here.

The whole CTU drama is shit, I hope mannish blond dies, or at least sets up her ex and has him get caught.

Oh and I'm going with Arab Dimitri Martin with Hassan's brother as well. I swear he was going to pull out a chart to explain how bad it would be to spill the beans on his relationship with the reporter. I might be a little biased with being Indian, but I like how Anil Kapoor's Hassan is a little more complex than he at first seemed to be. I chuckle every time his Indian accent pronounces "mahduhm president."
Katee Sackhoff is "mannish?" Man, we're going to have to agree to disagree, you certifiably insane person.

Did anyone else expect Russian Dude to find Renee's earpiece when he was nuzzling her neck?

she is very boyish... the only time I've ever seen her in a feminine light was on ONE very brief scene in her guest stint on The Bionic Woman.

Edited mannish to boyish, since I 100% agree with Bailey on the proper word.
She's a bit boyish, not mannish.
I hope that this season is a slow, sloooow burner that's getting ready to explode. Otherwise, I cannot explain why it's been such a snoozer so far. I'm interested in seeing just how nutty Renee really is, and Prinze is actually not annoying me like I feared (his sniper assistance to Jack was pretty damn cool), but I turn the channel or mute the TV whenever Starbuck pops up. It's stupid as hell to risk your job to look up whatever the hell it was that she looked up for her white trash ex when they can trace it right back to your fucking workstation. No matter what, you're shit out of luck. Just tell your fiancee what's up, hope he doesn't leave you, and get this shit off my tv.

And the fact that they would allow a former criminal with a name change to work in CTU at all is fucking ABSURD. There has to be a qualified person with a clean record that could perform her job. Jeez, these people are just begging to be infiltrated again.
Yep, that episode was a snoozer. Actually picked up my iPod to check my email and some other stuff while watching. Not good.

Sad thing is I could have fixed this shitty-beyond-all-reason Sackhoff storyline. They needed to just ditch the redneck ex-boyfriend and make Sackhoff a high-tech thief. She could have acted all sneaky and suspicious during the first few episodes. No one would have known what she was up to, and we would have been fighting about whether she's the mole or too obvious to be the mole. Then we would have all shit our pants when it was revealed she was actually a Hans Gruber wannabe. That would have worked.
Renee doesn't get mad. She gets stabby.
Holy shit. GO RENEE!
He recovers from a stab wound pretty fast... but pulling a knife out of your own stomach and throwing it across the room into a henchmens neck is a classic Bauer moment.
Yeah, that's definitely the best kill in the show since I don't know when.

Since Jack pulled a Lost Boys and took a nibble out of a baddie's neck a few seasons ago.
Nice to see the tradition of "the darkened CTU computer room that is only used for nefarious purposes" lives on.

True story: The dude who played Endo in LETHAL WEAPON already showed up on 24, way back in season one. From the looks of it, they should have saved him for next week.
Best scene from tonight's episode: Jack fucking that dude up by throwing the knife he just got stabbed with...to...the...NECK.
If it weren't for the subplot with Starbuck's ex, I'd say this season was ramping up pretty nicely.

All the knife-play was great. The 40 minutes leading up to it were deplorable.
This episode was an astonishing mix of retarded and awesome. The bi-polar Slumdog and redneck stuff was terrible television but Renee stabbing the Cylon to death and Jack disappearing made up for it. I'm still on board for this season but I don't think we're going to get anything on par with Voight killing dudes with a decanter or the White House siege.

I wonder if David Fury ever regrets throwing the Lost writers under the bus when he hears someone pitch "what if the rednecks spend half the episode throwing all the evidence on the floor?"
Am I the only one really enjoying the Slumdog story? Helps he's a great actor, but I am liking his personal battle over doing the wrong things to protect the prospect of peace.
If anyone happens to come across a .gif of the whole knife going from stomach to throat event, please feel free to not keep it to yourself.
The knife event was great, and the retarded rednecks made me laugh. Worst criminals EVER! Can't wait till they die.
The 60 seconds of the show that contained stabbin' action were fun. The rest was awful crap.
Cannot believe I forgot about Voight's decanter kill. Still, it was the best Bauer kill in recent memory.

It would be so great if they had Starbuck lead the rednecks into an ambush where she just mows them down with a couple of silenced pistols and then the show never mentions the storyline again.
It will only work if she's the villain in the second half of the season and was doing this crap to avoid blowing her cover. But then why didn't she just kill them? And why did they touch everything in the building without wearing gloves?
You're thinking of it from a logical writer's point of view. Why else would someone who was able to create a new identity and get a relatively high level job allow a couple of rednecks to walk all over her so easily unless she had something bigger to hide? I'm thinking of it from a comical wish fulfillment point of view. No investigation. No pangs of conscience. No eventual need for redemption. Just wrap that shit up with a pair of double taps and move on.

This would have worked. The rest of the season she tries to cover it up, maybe even saves the day, so we all feel bad at the end of the terrorist threat when she's hauled away in chains.
Renee Walker: "I . . . AM . . . A . . . STABBING ROBOT!"

70% of this season is already full-on boredom. Need a new, guest-star villian to punch things up. Prochnow is just not cutting it.

I may be crazy for saying this but Prinze is getting underutilized. He should be getting groomed as the next Curtis (RIP).
Throwing and stabbing knives was good. I liked the Slumdog story so far. The rednecks made me laugh, and I hope Starbuck grows a brain soon and leads them off a cliff. I can see it now. "Follows my directions exactly..." You just know they would, the idjits.

If Dana pulls a Bugs Bunny and actually does just that, it would redeem the season.
So they've had to halt production so Keifer can undergo an elective surgery, but don't expect any delays. I guess since he's an exec producer that makes sense, but he's barely even on the show it feels like. You'd think they could shoot more of the retarded CTU chick and her bad ex storyline while Keifer recovers.
I really hate Starbuck.

I was watching this with a friend who commented that it looks like the show is potentially grooming Prinze to take over the reins should Kiefer step aside. I'm not sure he's going to survive the season, and no one can touch Jack in my eyes, but he's doing a much better job than I anticipated.

Hope Kiefer's surgey goes well.
I'd torture myself with my own car battery before I'd believe they're grooming anybody. People said the same thing about Bernard, and he would have made a lot more sense than Prinze. Even Renee would make more sense. They'll go to movies if they can, or do a ninth season.
I know it's not saying much, but tonight's was easily the most bad ass power hour of the season.
Remember when Jack Bauer was on national television becaus he was being tried by some congressional tribunal for torturing suspected terrorists in interogation. Thank goodness no one watches the news in 24's world either.
