Ignition City

Deadwood combined with 30's pulp space heroes such as Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers. Last issue came out this week and damn what an ending. I would also recommend it to fans of Firefly/Serenity.

I think the series also really fits with the current mood of those of us who want more space travel. The idea that our space heroes and adventurers are trapped on this rock because the majority of the world just doesn't fucking understand the importance of space travel and their need to go out there and see what is there.

And it has given me the new term of "gunfucking."

Its a Warren Elliss book, isnt it? that explains the new term.
Also, will get it once its released on a trade...but if its finished, then hopefully Ellis will get "Fell" back on track (I know he had a hard drive issue that fucked up most of his inpu and has to dedicate time to contract work before creator owned work).
Also, given his work on the Ultimate line, I love that one of the main bases for Ellis's love/obssesion with more space travel/research seems to be that "there's probably something out there that could kill us all".

I haven't read the last issue yet, but I actually have this one in my comics account since the second issue. I LOVE the art, loved the premise. This could have easily been a regular monthly series. It was one of the only Avatar titles I could get behind, easily their best series in the last two years.

Excellent stuff; I generally get my Avatar stuff when it's bound, they do a good job with the final product. Definitely be grabbing this.

This is one of those series where I will pick up the collection as well. Lot of good lines in this as well including one I used on The Expendables a lot:

"Jesus Christ, one day I am going to wake up dead and be so fucking happy about it."

Trade for this came out this week. Back of it has the alternate covers gathered together. Really I can't recommend this enough.
