I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the first movie.

That is sad. Does Sanchez have no other stories he's interested in telling?

Apparently not... Daniel Myrick has had much more luck in film. He produced Rest Stop and a bunch of other Raw Feed films, even directing Believers, which was a lot more effective than it should have been.

What a spectacularly bad idea.

I grew up in a house on a hill where the front yard was basically the woods, with lots more woods behind it. Beautiful, but spooky at night. On the night I saw the original movie, I made the 35-minute commute home, most of which is right along the Ohio River. So it's dark river to the left, and old, tall, nasty, gnarled trees reaching up over the road on my right, and of course I'm thinking about the movie and the ending the entire way back.

So I drive up the hill, shut off the car, get out, and start walking toward the house.

And suddenly, in my peripheral vision, I see a womanly figure dressed all in white, walking toward me. I froze, lost my voice, and still don't know how my heart didn't just explode out of my chest. It started beating that hard.

Of course it was my mother, who'd had a severe migraine and couldn't sleep and decided to go outside and piddle around in her flower garden at 1 in the morning. That moment probably took about 11 years off of my life.

Dumbass.

Blair Witch 2 was the right idea, just piss poor execution. What Sanchez has in mind now is just licking the well dry at this point.

Hey, Sanchez promises that the new horror film he is involved with will show us things that have never been seen before.

I would have never known about this new low budget horror film that will show me things I have never seen before if it hadn't been thrown in there at the end of this article about a Blair Witch sequel that hasn't even been pitched yet.

Look forward to a follow up on how the pitch went so that we can find out when Possessed will hit dvd shelves.

They'd want to involve original cast members Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams, although in smaller roles
In different roles, does he mean? Cuz, eesh.

Myrick, Sánchez and the three actors from the first film should get together and document the pitch meeting to Lionsgate all grainy, shaky-cam style. All of them can take turns crying into the camera near the end.

The Blair Pitch Project.

Sorry. It was just sitting there, and I had to take it.

Anything that will get Erica Leesham more screentime is fine by me.

Alex, I think you're fantastical....gangbusters even...BUT...did you really think the first Blair Witch might have been actual found footage when you saw it?
Lots and lots of people thought that - it's why the movie did as well as it did.
I saw it with my wife at at one of the the indy theater here in Atlanta, and I knew it wasn't real, but I had researched it a bit to figure that out. My wife still wasn't sure.

The best part of the film to me was the last 5 minutes. And I actually didn't mind BW2. I liked that it sort of took a different direction while keeping the legend of the first one intact. I have zero desire to see Paranormal Activity, though. I'll catch it when it comes on HBO/Showtime/whatever.

I was also 17 at the time, so you can chalk it up to being a dumb teen.

But anyone remember that incredible website they had published before the film came out? It had a ton of info about the actual Blair Witch, and was really cleverly set up. I remember reading it before seeing the film and being completely taken in by it. Can't find it now, damn it.

They also had that special on the Sci-Fi channel (was it Sci-Fi?) about the mythology and everything. Great marketing for sure.

I remember the site. It was very well done. It could probably be used as the textbook example of early net viral marketing.

I think that's actually how I figured out it was fake. Can't you find it at Archive.com, or that Time Machine website?

Yeah, but I was trying to find the original site through archive.org but couldn't find the one that was released before Artisan got their stamp all over it. It didn't mention anything about the filmmakers or release, of course.

And M. Night had to ruin it with the marketing for The Village.

The filmmakers link on that site is about the three protagonists. Aritsan doesn't seem to have too much of an imprint besides the intro flash and the link to buy the dvd. I think the content is pretty well preserved, but maybe we're not thinking of the same site.

Possibly. It's been such a long time that I can't really remember. Think it definitely had that spooky music on it, though.

I actually enjoyed that better than the film.
