You jerk.
First off I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic. Secondly, I am pretty sure New York has "children's hospitals" that would suffice.

As a Yankee fan, I don't want them to trade Montero. I was reading a columnist on cnnsi.com yesterday who said that scouts compare his offense to Piazza which is probably too high praise but still has me giddy about the possibility. I would like to see him brought up and have him DH and catch occasionally just to see what he can do. The Yanks became a dynasty in the 90s because they gave their kids a chance to play. Last year they traded Austin Jackson who turned out to be very good for the Tigers at age 23 and I would rather them not make the same mistake twice, especially with a rapidly aging team.

He wasn't being sarcastic. It sounds like his son spent a lot of time in that hospital when he was in Philly, and that did weigh in to the decision. Besides, stop robbing me of my chance to call Cassady a jerk.

Edit:

CHoP is rated the 2nd best pediatric cancer hospital in the country. NY does have one that comes in at #8, which I'm sure is a fine hospital, but when #1 isn't an option (Memphis) I can see deciding to go with a really good offer in the city with #2.

What his son can't ride Amtrak? I think Cashman would have throw some tickets in there.

The real jerk is Lee blaming his son's cancer, when in reality he's afraid to pitch against the Sox 18 times a year. [/SuperYankeeBias]

You jerk.
Why the Fuck would anyone subject themselves to Colin Cowherd's awful show?

Somebody has never heard my alternate choices in Phoenix. I actually don't mind Cowherd, but I only get to listen to him in 10-15 minute chunks if I happen to get a chance since he airs during my workday.

Amen to that. Anybody who hides behind his son is nobody I want in my clubhouse. Personally I don't even think his son really has cancer.

Wow, the Yankees can't even resign their own guys. I can't believe Wood went back to the Cubs for that amount of money considering he seemed rejuvinated pitching for NY. What a terrible off-season this has been thus far for the Yanks. Great job Cashman!

Brewers get Zach Greinke.
The Brewers are going "all in" with the deal. They gave up a lot of potential, but it's not like the NL Central isn't winnable.

A guy who wouldn't go to a big city because he can't handle the pressure.

I'd be worried about his arm. His ERA nearly doubled last year. It will dip because of the NL switch but I wouldn't be surprised to hear the name Tommy John.

51 years to life for the guy who killed Nick Adenhart. He'll be eligible for parole in 49.

An adequate sentence I suppose. Dude's a killer and had previous DUIs.

Tougher punishment than lethal injection. Not that he doesn't deserve it.

Whoa.  Vernon Wells traded to Anaheim for Mike Napoli and Juan Rivera.

Wells is owed *86 million* over the next four years.  Angels are smoking crack if Toronto isn't covering at least half that, and rumor is they're not covering *any* of it.

Well, congratulations, Tampa has just won the 2004 World Series.

This is almost certainly a panic move by Artie Moreno because they missed out on Crawford. He and Tori Hunter may compliment eachother in the outfield but as an Angles fan its been a tough offseason and I don't have much hope for them this season.

Why would anyone want Manny Ramirez? Johnny Damon may have something left in the tank but Manny is complete dead weight at this point in his career.

The Angels are also just run shitty nowadays.  They're willing to pay Vernon Wells $86 million, but low-balled Carl Crawford?  They let Beltre sign with Texas?  How's that Kazmir trade worked out?  Things like that.  This trade will make life in the AL East way interesting, though, as the Jays just cleared a ton of payroll.

Also, Manny and Judas replacing Crawford and Pena in Tampa is great.  Maybe Tampa will be somewhat interesting to watch this year.  I'm curious as to how Manny got less than both Damon and Andruw Jones, though.

Why would anyone want Manny? Tampa's DHs hit a combined .238/.322/.391 (BA/OBP/SLG), .713 OPS, last year. Manny hit .298/.409/.460, .870 OPS, last year. At $2 million Manny will cost less than the slop Tampa threw out there last year too.

This is funny.
