Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - Page 4

This bad boy is going for $15 used on Gamefly this weekend. Anyone around here still play the PS3 version much?
I have a blast with it, and with the expansion and the new maps, I'm going to be spending some more time with it.

I will warn you about the used game, you don't get the "VIP" code with it, so you will not get the free "map packs". I think you can get the code after the fact for another $10-$15.
Thanks, though I've read that at least a couple of people on CAG did get the VIP code when they ordered it. I guess they probably don't send those out when the Gamefly discs go out for rental, so there's no reason why they'd have been redeemed.

Also, ARMY OF TWO...TWO is $13 or so. Hmm.
It might work then. I misread Gamefly as Gamestop, that's why I was throwing that VIP thing in. It's worth it for $15. I've had a good time with the MP, but it doesn't click with everyone.

Do you have to be a member of Gamefly to buy the used games from them?
Nope. I've ordered a couple of games from them in the past, and they came in great shape. I hear the same from others. Free shipping. Good deals all around.

This week they've been offering up different titles on sale each day, with the current batch lasting through the weekend. I ordered Super Street Fighter IV ($15) and Uncharted 2 ($18) earlier in the week.

I might have to snag some Bad Company.

I am buying TOO MANY GAMES.
Has anyone picked up the Vietnam map pack yet? A couple of the reviews I read say it's worth the price because it's essentially a new multiplayer mode. I was really into BC2 when it came out but I was in the process of a move and when I got back online everyone was pretty much finished with it, but this seems pretty accessible.

ETA: Ha, just kidding. It comes out next week.
I'm going to grab it when it comes out next week. There's some new maps now, so you may want to get back into it again. I'm still digging it, and there are always people playing it. When that Vietnam expansion drops I'm sure that it will get really busy again.
Anyone play this for the PC? I just picked this up on Steam for $19.
I've been playing Battlefield 2 and that Battlefield Play4Free beta on the PC, and I am having a hell of a time with them. I've always played on consoles and am not doing well with the mouse and keyboard thing. I guess I need more practice.

That $20 price is pretty sweet.
Just ordered this for the XBox. Anyone up for some multiplayer around Christmas?
I would, but I'm on the PS3.

Just got it yesterday for the supersweet sale price. I'm el_gray on Steam.
I'll be adding you guys soon! Once work closes down for the holidays I'll have some free time!
I'm waiting to get my Vietnam on, but the PSN store doesn't have it up yet. What a coupla donkey dicks they are.
Cancel that last shit, going to 'Nam.
I picked it up on the Steam sale and I haven't touched multi yet. I'm not too impressed with the single player campaign so far, but I do love blowing up buildings.
Yeah, blowing up buildings is fun. It gets to where I miss it in other games when I am trying to get someone and expecting the wall to crumble when I hit it with the RPG.

ha, i've yet to touch the single player. I bought this for multi only.
'Nams pretty good so far. Don't expect to stay in the Huey long. Those fuckers are shot down before you know it. I think they made them a little too weak against AR fire. They did that since you don't have any tracer darts to help bring them down, but if a few guys open up on them, they could come down pretty quick.

The flamethrower seems to be a popular pick.
I played an hour or so of the solo campaign last night, haven't tried multi yet. Will likely suck at it, but looking forward to it, nonetheless!

The one time I tried to drive a vehicle in solo (a 4-wheeler), I lost control, drove it into a fuel tank, and died in the most spectacularly incompetent fashion possible.

Are other vehicles easier to drive?
Those are the easiest. The tanks might be easier because they are slower. I can't fly a heli to save my life.
Some folk are way too good with heli's online. But spawning, seeing one hovering right beside me, pulling out my rpg, leading the shot, and hitting him as he's about to go for another murder spree just made my night. Too bad this game doesn't have a theater mode.

Not one to waste a heli with my inexperience, mainly stick to ground medic duties.
I'm a terror on the ground with a RPG against vehicles, but I can't hit a heli very often without the dart on it. I play the medic when my team doesn't have one. I'm a pain in the ass with the GOL too.
Can anyone tell me how to exit Vietnam multiplayer without going to the dashboard? It doesn't seem to have the same quit option as regular multiplayer.
On the 360? You exit the same as you would normal multiplayer. Hit start, and select exit from the menu. It should drop you out to the main Vietnam menu screen.
It's the same for the ps3. I hit start, exit game, and then I'm back to the main multiplayer menu.

I've been playing a ton of Bad Company 2 since I got it a couple weeks ago. As such, I found this tribute video featuring a BFBC2 remix of Toto's Africa (complete with redone lyrics) to be rather amusing.  It sums up the BC2 experience rather nicely.

Love that. Hopefully I'll be online tomorrow for some more NRY rampages. Still can't get used to the Assault class in this, I was a born Medic I guess.

I definitely have done the best as a Medic and Engineer so far, but I've been playing a bit of Assault lately as well because I like having a grenade launcher.  I am a little over halfway towards unlocking the red dot sight now, so once I get there, the assault class won't feel quite as annoying.  Of course I still have to do it all over again with Recon.  Too bad that I suck with sniper rifles.  At least I get to use those fun little motion detector balls.

I usually only play the medic when my team needs one. You can really rack up the points dropping some med boxes by the rush crates and reviving dudes. A lot of people tend to like this class because of the LMG and not having to reload as often.

The assault class can make great points by dropping ammo by the crates or wherever there are people hanging out. I have the M16 and I slaughter fools. This is my best class, followed by the engineer class for the first part of Arica Harbor and most of Port Valdez. You can rack up the points here by fixing the vehicles. Even vehicles that you aren't driving or are part of your team. If you plan on driving the armored vehicles, be an engineer, because no one ever bothers to fix your shit. An engineer with a good chopper pilot will destroy the opposing team. Sometimes they have a good guy that knows how to take down a chopper, but usually you can last the whole round by laying waste, go back to your base, repair chopper, and repeat.

Playing a sniper isn't really too hard. Just remember the bullet drop and you will kick ass. Throw those sensors for your team mates around the flags and the rush crates and you'll rack up the points that way too. The biggest pain in the ass is the enemy team filled with snipers that hide and bring mortar shells on the crates all day. Of course that's a good way to keep the enemy team from defusing the bombs too. I'm way bad on COD with a sniper, but I usually do pretty well with a sniper here.

Yeah I'm feeling the Sniper more than the Assault class. It just feels more natural to snipe in this, with the bullet drop and all. My heart still belongs to the Medics and their insanely powerful light machine guns. I do think I prefer Vietnam to Vanilla Bad Company because it feels a lot more even. In Vanilla if you don't have a red dot sight or scope you're kind of fucked, whereas in Vietnam everyone has to go with iron sights.

I bought this discounted on Steam for the single-player campaign, and couldn't be more pleased. Sometimes it's downright riveting.

I do dig the sniper. The GOL is my weapon of choice. Most people go with the M95, but I like the GOL.

Vietnam is also a lot of fun. It does put people on a little more even level, but once you rank up, everyone has access to everything and your gameplay and the load outs you get familiar with make the difference. Some games my team steamrolls, some games we get steamrolled.

The funny thing is that it almost always comes down to a certain player or squad. If you look at the scoreboard you see the same group at the top and on the winning side. When those people drop, the tide then turns. The thing happens when your stomping people then suddenly they start to turn the tide. It's usually when new players have come on and they know their shit.

I really like this game, more so than the COD stuff. It's just a different type of gameplay that I really like.

After I get used to working nights I'll probably start trying to play this online again. I'm burnt out on Black Ops.

I ended up putting a lot of time into Recon this weekend.  I did a little bit of sniping, but most of the time I was running around Conquest maps with a shotgun.  Sitting around with an Assault guy to defend a base was VERY effective.  I was able to have us constantly covered with motion detectors thanks to the ammo crates he would drop.  Throw in a medic or two and we would have been nearly unstoppable.  I also have to say that there are few things in BC2 that are more satisfying than running up to a tank, planting some C4, and then blowing it to hell the instant before it shoots you.

Apart from that, I got in some good practice time with flying a helicopter around Heavy Metal for a while in an almost empty game.  I need some more work on my aim before I can be any use as an attack chopper, but I can certainly keep it in the air and maneuver well enough to be a decent transport pilot at least.

I tend to gravitate towards objectives-based multiplayer rather than vanilla deathmatches.  If a game is only about kill/death ratios, I will lose every single time.  That is why I really like games like this and Red Faction Guerrilla that give people like me tons of different things to do outside of just shooting other players.  I definitely don't get as many kills as a lot of players in BC2, but I can still be very useful to my team AND get a decent amount of points doing it.  I wish more games were like that.

Yeah, I like this gameplay a lot. I usually hit the Conquest or Rush modes. I usually don't get into the squad deathmatch stuff.

I love that C4, but I think my most satisfaction comes from knifing fuckers and grabbing those dogtags. I might have something wrong with me.

The knife kills are insanely satisfying. On one occasion I go sneaking up on a guy who’s busy shooting out of a window, and just as I get within knife range his three buddies pick that exact moment to spawn off him. Cue one frenzied spam of the stab button, four freshly-collected dogtags and many golden memories.

If you can manage this while jumping off a bridge into some water, it's oh so much sweeter.

Not too many places that would work, but yes, that would be pretty damned awesome.

It seems the more BC2 I play, the more I'm honing my suicide bomber tactics.  I don't really care if I die as long as I am able to get the vehicle kill.  If I somehow manage to get enough distance to set off the C4 without blowing myself up, then that's just icing on the cake.

On a side note, I rarely play recon with an actual sniper rifle.  I really suck at hitting anything with them, let alone getting head shots.  So instead I go with the complete opposite for my primary weapon.  Like my papa always said (not really), "no one expects a sniper with a shotgun!"

If I'm playing recon I use the G3...assault wookie all the way!

Bleh. I really dig the vibe of Vietnam and the maps are pretty interesting but the randoms I've been squading up with lately are terrible. The first night I really got into it pretty much everyone was glitching the PBR. There's nothing more confusing than logging into a match and having no idea where you're being shot from and then realizing they're right under you....in the hill. Maybe it's just my personal experience too but I've had better teamwork in vanilla multi-player. Most of the matches seem to be really lopsided with one team just STOMPING the other. Oh well, hopefully I can get some PS3 chewer squad rush or conquest going sometime.

PM me your PSN I got some pretty good squads I roll with.

Anyone still playing this on 360 both normal and Vietnam? add meeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
