Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - Page 2

post #51 of 194
Game Informer is giving this a 9.5. Sounds like it's going to be good. I've been having a blast with the demo.
post #52 of 194
I really need to get on this demo. I've had it downloaded since it was available, but I still haven't checked it out.
post #53 of 194
Is the hit detection better than it was in Bad Company 1?
post #54 of 194
People still seem to have issues with hit detection as a sniper, but not enough to really be a big hindrance. I never really noticed much of an issue in the first game, but I didn't snipe very often.
post #55 of 194
I'm virtually never a sniper but I remember a bit of slightly laggy hits and misses in general. It was the same way with the 1943 remake(which I did snipe in sometimes).

Hits that would have registered in something like Modern Warfare or Halo were missing.
post #56 of 194
I don't think it's that so much as that it took more bullets to down someone than people are generally used to, especially compared to Modern Warfare.

Demo ends February 25th, so you should get on it asap. It's really fucking good- played it more than any other demo in a long time, that's for sure. Even with playing the PS3 beta.

EA sent over this yesterday-

Quote:
Stockholm, Sweden – February 11, 2010 – DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. studio (NASDAQ: ERTS), today announced that Battlefield: Bad Company™ 2 is on pace to become the fastest downloaded demo* in EA history. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 continues to dominate online multiplayer gaming with over 2M demo downloads across Xbox LIVE™ and the PlayStation®Network (combined) in the first five days of availability. The recently launched PC beta has also met great success, with hundreds of thousands of players already signed up. With the huge popularity of the Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network demo and the PC beta, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is positioned to be the premier first person-shooter of 2010 when it hits stores on March 2nd.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to hear that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is already in the hands of almost 2½ million gamers, and it hasn’t even shipped yet,” said Patrick Bach, Senior Producer on Battlefield: Bad Company 2. “This massive rush to experience the game early is proof positive that action gamers are looking for more. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 delivers on every front. This is intelligent, strategic warfare that our competitors simply cannot replicate.”

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be in stores on March 2, 2010 in North America and March 4, 2010 in Europe for the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and the PC. The Limited Edition can be pre-ordered now on all platforms at no extra cost, with participating retailers worldwide (while supplies last).

Really impressive demo that, with a good crowd could be really satisfying. Otherwise it's an entertaining clusterfuck. The terrain destruction doesn't feel like a gimmick anymore.
post #59 of 194
Been playing the demo for the last couple of days (between 'Rust in Peace'-Band), and although I'm not much of a multi-player guy with these games, I gotta say it's a tonne of fun. I absolutely loved Modern Combat 2 on the OG X-Box, so I dare say I'll be picking this up.

My only gripe - and it's a big one - is that the snipers are REALLY hard done by. You have to reload after each shot, and it leaves you wide open considering it barely ever puts the guy down. Shit, I actually shot a guy at a stationary turret POINT-BLANK with the sniper rifle and he casually turned around and gunned me down while I was reloading. That's some bullshit.
post #60 of 194
Yeah, the bolt action can be a pain in the ass, but as you level up you can get a semi-auto rifle to help you in those situations. Otherwise switch to your handgun to finish him off, or knife his ass and collect his dogtag. Normally one round from that rifle puts a guy down, so maybe somehow it registered as a glancing shot or something.

I got a lucky shot today, as I was parachuting in I launched my RPG at the four story structure across from point "B" on the first base and killed a guy on the mounted machine gun on the third floor. Someone always runs up there to defend the "B" crate.
post #61 of 194
That four-story building is always good for some easy kills because there's always defenders up there. I've gotten a bunch of kills by hitting it with RPGs from way back by the spawn point.
post #62 of 194
Yeah, I also like to cruise in low with the UAV above those barriers on the road. You can get the dudes spawning behind that building as well as the guys on the stationary weapons and anyone hiding from your snipers behind the walls. If you stay low enough, the stationary machine gun in the building across can't reach. I can rack up a few 5 kill medals before someone figures out where the shooting is coming from and that they can shoot down the UAV.

Some people piloting it don't realize that it has a machine gun in the UAV, so they sit up there waiting for the missile to reset and are waiting to be shot down.

Even on this short map I am still having a lot of fun. It may just be me, but I'm looking forward to the release in a few more weeks just to get more maps to play on.
post #63 of 194
The demo is massive entertainment. I'm generally not a skilled super-sniper shot or anything, but I didn't seem to have much trouble knocking dudes off. Leveled all the classes up to lvl 2 last night. Nailing three Russians with an RPG from a couple hundred yards away is definitely a highlight.
post #64 of 194
Played the demo yesterday and I really do suck playing online. Barely got a shot off usually. Massive fun though.

Really love this demo, probably played it more than any other since the Brutal Legend one (sigh).

Press release was sent my way saying that the demo along was downloaded 3.5 million times.

Quote:
Some fun facts about the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 demo:

* 3.5 Million downloads
* 500 Million kills
* 100 Million vehicle kills
* 15 Million knife kills
* 30 Million destroyed vehicles
* 10 Million head shots
* 25 Million revives
post #66 of 194
I can't believe i'm actually considering buying this one - it's such a good demo. It's miles better than the original's was and I can't help but relish in that whole feeling of chaos when things are falling apart around you, under fire from a tank only to see a plonker in a helicopter plow themselves right into it - saving your bacon right at the last minute.
post #67 of 194
I'm still having fun with it. The demo ends in a few days, but we only have about another week to wait. I'm looking forward to the new game modes and maps. I might actually pose a threat.

Free maps on the way! http://chud.com/articles/articles/22...DLC/Page1.html

Awesome. DICE did the same with the first game, adding that a ton of new Conquest maps, which are completely different than the Rush ones. Glad to see that they're doing it again here.
post #69 of 194
Good news. Looking forward to Tuesday.
post #70 of 194
Man, this game is fun. So far I've only played a few games and for whatever reason this has got me hooked in the way MW never has been able... to hook me(?). But to be honest, I really, really suck at MW.
post #71 of 194
Anybody else get a Limited Edition code that does NOT work?

Enter the letters in caps and make sure you put the dashes in between every 4 characters.
post #73 of 194
That was really pissing me off until I figured it out. Works like a charm now.

The SP campaign is actually pretty fun so far. My PS3 connection was acting stupid yesterday when I was playing it, so I missed a few of the first trophies.
post #74 of 194
This is really a pain in the ass so far. Doesn't seem like people really get the whole idea of teamwork.
post #75 of 194
Yeah, it's a toss up, but when a good crew gets together, it's like gravy.
post #76 of 194
I need squad mates. Having a great time in multiplayer so far.
post #77 of 194
I'd like to join you man, but my PS3 doesn't seem to want to connect right now.
post #78 of 194
Just rented this today, definitely looking forward to checking it out
post #79 of 194
Must of missed you. I was online last night wrecking havoc with Mr. Wayne and another gentleman. Even though I can't get the store to unlock, we ended up in a squad deathmatch, which was tons of fun. During the Rush modes, it seemed like we were the only ones trying to get to the damn crates.
post #80 of 194
Shit, missed the beta/demo cause I'm an idiot. The online gameplay videos I've seen look like a blast, but would have liked to played it myself for a while before deciding if I'm throwing $70 bucks down on it..

Cursed choices!

ETA: After watching more beta videos on youtube for a couple hours I've decided just watching them alone was more fun than I ever had on MW2, so I think I'll buy it. Cursed choice the second, xbox or ps3? Normally a shooter, much less an online shooter is a 360 no-brainer for me, but my xbox keeps freezing up on certain games lately (sorry Darksiders), and scratching a faint ring in the middle of every disc I put in regardless of how many times I wipe/blow out the tray and inside.. plus the whole x360 server issue with people losing their stats? On the flip side, my friend ratio from ps3 to xbox is like 1:17

post #81 of 194
I was a victim of the stat loss thing last night when I was playing with Matches and Zombie Fever. Everything came back later in the match.

I haven't heard anything about it being permanent.
post #82 of 194
This game is a lot of fun, its a breath of fresh air from Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer for sure.
post #83 of 194
I may pick this up. I keep hearing such good things and I'm getting abit tired of Modern Warfare 2.
post #84 of 194
Would be nice if a round would end in a win automatically when the whole opposing team leaves, in multiplayer.

Still loving multiplayer.
post #85 of 194
Picked this up and I'm loving the hell out of it. Better than Modern Warfare 2,in my opinion.

Yeah, that was fun the three of us running around looking for one guy, then looking for no guys.

Thanks for the great teamwork from you and your buddy by the way, it makes the rounds that much more funner. I've been going a few rounds lately in the conquest mode, trying to get a taste of all of the maps.

As a side note, has anyone here been able to access the store or get the M1 to unlock? I can't get either one to work.

Yeah, it's really taking my attention away. I usually go back to MW2 for the offline splitscreen modes. Nothing like a 4 guy splitscreen, FFA on a 65" HDTV.

Yeah, as long as we have a decent squad, we seem to do well.

I haven't been able to get either the M1 or the maps yet. I'm getting tired of the same maps in Rush.
post #89 of 194
Yeah, that's why I've been playing the conquest modes, trying to get some fresh maps going.
post #90 of 194
I knew I'd get addicted once I tried multiplayer. I love the way Battlefield games play online. It's a pity I can't sink as much hours into this as I did with 1942 so my K/D ratio isn't going to get much better than the shameful 0.43 it is now. Anyway, if any of you play on the PC my nickname is xenist.

Can't really help with the store, I've had no problems with it on Xbox.

But, to unlock the M1, you need to go to http://veteran.battlefield.com/ and log in with the same email you use with your EA account. Then just use the same gamertag or CD key from past Battlefields and it should unlock the next time you play.

Hopefully you just don't need access to the store to get it.

I may have to hit you up. My soldier's name is Doosh Bag.

Yeah, I tried that. It wouldn't let me enter BF:BC2 or BF:1943. It worked for BC1 and let me get a gun in that game with the veteran status, just not BC2. I'll give it another try, maybe they fixed it already.

I'm going to be a baby and gripe here, but that damn air raid horn when the conquest modes are running out is killing me. Maybe it just seems louder than it is because I play late at night when the rest of the house is dead quiet.
post #95 of 194
Some gameplay changes on two maps are going to be available for the VIP crew come March 30.

http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/batt...ut-paying.aspx

They say that they are releasing a patch for the PS3 people to access the store, but last night when I played, there was no access and no prompt to DL the patch. Maybe they are still trying to get it on the PSN.

Oh god. Yeah I have no idea why they put that in there. Maybe if you were down to like the last couple I could understand. I think it kicks in when your around 10-15 though. Ended up playing for damn near 20 minutes with that thing blaring because my team ended up making a come back.

Agreed. That horn kills conquest for me.
post #98 of 194
I love this game. I hadn't played a Battlefield title before this but it reminds me of the old Delta Force MP servers.

If anyone wants to play in a squad on PS3, send me a message.
post #99 of 194
180 knife kills so far. Was completely underwhelmed by the single player campaign, but wow am I rocking out to the multiplayer. Once you start playing with people with an ounce of teamplay in them it really comes together.
post #100 of 194
Yeah, this game is a blast. If I see you on there Butter I'll try to join your squad. I actually try to work with my teammates to win the round.

I have a question about that tv spot they were airing. It looked like a good map, but I can't seem to recognize it. Do you guys know it? It seems like someone is playing MP on the spot. Maybe a future map release. Here's a link to the spot.
