The Gaytheists - A place for LGBTQ Atheists, Skeptics & Humanists

I have recently been accepted as a writer for this blog, becoming their first (and currently only) bisexual writer. I'm very excited to be working with such talented people, and would love to get some more readers over there. Everyone's welcome to read and comment, and debate is always welcome.

Congrats on this, although I can't subscribe to atheism mainily because it offers nothing more than what Agnostism already gives me.

Not true. It also offers the added scorn of 90% of the spiritual and societal spectrum. That's almost a 44% increase over agnosticism! Act quickly, since the Rapture could be on us at any time!

Okay, outside of additional griefing. It doesn't give me anything else. Still, I don't want to take away from the main topic. I'll give it a shot when I get home.

The word Gaythiest, to me, kind of sounds like what you'd be called if you didn't believe in the existence of gay people.

That's just the first thing that popped into my mind when I read it.

It also literally means gay person who believes in God

I didn't pick the name!

Congrats on the gig, Cleo! Is it paid? Hopefully you'll still have time to Chud in addition to your official blog work.

I'm agnostic, for the record. I've encountered too many unexplained circumstances in my life to discount the idea of a higher power out of hand. I think "god" is highly unlikely to actually exist, but I'm not all knowing so I keep an open mind on that subject. Sort of a former atheist here, I guess. Tried to start my own religion (which, FYI, I'm willing to sell the rights to. It dates back to 2002, and I'd think that's something that would be of value for anyone wanting to start their own religion. Lends it street cred if it's already been established for a while, so this might be a good deal. Contact me with any offers), but it kind of fizzled and now I'm agnostic

Nope, not paid. Which is good, it means I have no obligation to meet deadlines or be 100% reliably awesome at all times. I still have plenty of Chud time, I do most of my writing by hand on my way to work and on my lunch breaks, and then just have to type it up when I get home.

Technically speaking I guess I'd be an agnostic - I'm pretty fucking sure that there's no God, but I wouldn't want to say I know there isn't as that would be an act of faith in itself, seeing as we can't prove it. But if there is a God I don't give a fuck, and wouldn't pay attention to him anyway. As in, if he showed up in my living room and said hi I still wouldn't be a Christian/Muslim/Whatever. So Atheism is the best label for me, really.

Also, I tried to start a religion when I was in highschool, based on the worship of shoes and sexy clothes. I was about 14.

Wow ... the name of the blog says it all.

Somebody really got confused on what the word 'theist' means, why would anybody think such a person would have anything intelligent to say on the topic?

Um, because it's clearly just a humorous title. Cleo already explained that. I don't think confusion was a factor

Pretty much this. Everyone involved knows what theist means.
