This looks like it's going to make Devil May Cry look restrained and thoughtful, so I'm signing up.

Tiny head! Tiny, tiny head!

The game looks like a lot of fun, nightmarish proportions of the main character aside.

Her "clothes" is actually her crazy witch hair, and it flies off of her when she does big attacks involving them. What's not to like?

Search around youtube, there's a ton of gameplay videos showing some of the more ridiculous attacks. The game controls very smoothly as well. Really dig what I've seen and played so far of this one.
Signed up. My 360's jigglin' titties quotient is embarrassingly low.
Her hair turns into a giant boot and kills monsters. That's like three different fetishes come to life.

It's like a sexy Battletoads.

There's a pull quote if I've ever seen one.

Rocked the demo on the PS3. I imported Devil May Cry back in 2001, I was so eager to play it, so these action games are my cup of tea. I was pretty impressed with Bayonetta. It's very fast, very fluid, and has responsive and straightforward controls. The visuals are interesting to say the least. The story is as non-sensical as you might expect, just based on the demo and trailers.

But the gameplay is rock-solid.
I'm interested but I think I'll wait a little longer on the demo rather than be forced to sign up for yet another one of these godawful sites. I think it's just to crotchety old man in me (get out of me Singer!) but I'm hating this trend towards making us sign up for useless crap so that they can push eyeballs towards some crappy web idea they have.

Just uploaded a new trailer with the torture moves and embedded it in the article!

Got my demo code. Anyone else get theirs today?
Got my code, but it should've come in a day earlier. Can't download while I'm playing Left 4 Dead.

Im going to be a dick and ask if there's a horrible, horrible jet bike level in this one.
Also everything Justin says or shows is a filthy lie. (I kid, Justin...with the hate of a couple broken NES controllers's memory)
Except for his love of Strider.
If this ends up as DMc4, only good and with no level rehash/backtracking, im sold.
Got mine, too! I was checking the wrong e-mail address.

Sure is one wacky ass game. This is the demo I played before, fun as hell although the cluttered screen doesn't help sometimes. Definitely want to play the whole thing but this doesn't really give you an idea if it's worth a purchase or a rent.
Wow this game is tough. I can barely see what's going on because it's all so insane.
So I just read on Kotaku (http://www.kotaku.com.au/2009/12/wha...is-weekend-32/) that Bayonetta scored a 10/10 on EDGE and 40/40 from Famitsu.

WTF? I thought this was just a DMC clone. I hadn't paid it a second though but now it seems to be getting rave reviews.
Ive loved the demo so far (played it twice); its essentially DMC but even more insane and with the screen packed with enemies and effects.
It isnt so tough, except for keeping track of whats going on; on the second run, i scored Platinum and a got a gold trophy, as I got used to the controls and pulling off torture moves.
If the whole game lives up to the demo, it will definitely wipe that bitter and stale aftertaste of DMC4.

Wow a perfect score on both Edge and Famitsu? Edge almost never give out nines much less tens.

I think have softened up in the last decade. I used to buy every issue (starting from #1) and there was an uproar when Halo #1 got 10. In retrospect, that's a much less contraversial choice than a few others>

Ok, played the demo. Found it smoother and more fun than DMC.

The finishing moves with the hair dragon eating the giant angels (while Bayonetta is presumeably starkers just off camera) was pretty awesome. I only noticed on the second play through that there was a sword weapon to use as well as the guns.

If the game is of a decent length I'll get it.
IGN marked the PS3 version right down for slowdown and excessive loading times. Sadness
post #27 of 76
Its been looking that way for quite a while now.
My friends and I hated the demo, so I'll be skipping this one.
Gamesradar gave the 360 version a perfect ten, it seems.
Not really sold on this. The combat is fun enough but the story, characters and cut scenes are fairly obnoxious. I know its meant to a wink-wink-nudge-nudge sort of game (lookit! the chicks clothes come off for a second if you do a cool combo! Wawawoowee!) but its like the game's trying to hard to be cool.

I'm hoping there are more enemy designs than the standard crappy angel thingy the game keeps throwing at you. Am I the only one that thinks the game looks last gen-ish? Will give it a few more hours, hopefully it picks up.
Yeah, the demo didn't really blow my skirt up at all. Keep us posted!
Onto the fourth level now and the game does pick up, but its hardly 10 out of 10, best action game ever material.

My biggest problem is that I simply don't give a shit about the characters or the story. Not on any level. At its worst I'm actively skipping the cut scenes to get back to the combat, which itself isn't as brilliant as all the reviews make it seem. I might have looked beyond my other gripes if the game was nice to look at, which it really isn't.
At this point, all I want is an action packed, over the top action game that doesn't fuck itself around halfway through like DMC4 did and lets me have quite a few hours of combo chaining fun.
Will i get that?
So far, yes you will. But I'm not that far into the game and I'm in no rush to finish it.

EDIT:
The game picks up a bit further in. Newer enemy types and some fun platforming sections do the job. The 10/10 reviews and hype attached to those reviews aren't doing the game any favours. It's fun but GOW and Ninja Gaiden did this sort of thing much better.
Well moving onto the sixth level and the game kicks into high gear. Many newer/cooler enemy types and better looking levels + interesting level design. I'm starting to see what the reviews were going on about. Be prepared to wade through 4 hours very average action before you get to the good stuff.
Was planning on getting this one but will probably pick up Darksiders instead. I also preferred the Dante's Inferno demo so I may get that too.
Txs Jmub, I'll probably go with this and get Darksiders and Dante's Inferno in the next months as they become cheaper; february is Bioshock 2/AVP month for me.
No problems, Ryoken. Chances are you will probably love the game more than me. I generally don't get put off by games that are very japanese but Bayonetta really irked me at the start with its presentation, story and graphics. Add to the fact that the game uses the same boss repeatedly for the first few levels and I thought I was dealing with a budget title.

It all comes together. The newer enemies are actually fun to fight and really goddamn tough too. There's these twin armoured angels with claws that will rape you in 5 seconds if you're not paying attention.
Finally got around to downloading the demo. Definitely a purchase for me.
This game is fucking insane in a charming way. It's filled to the brim with "oh JAPAN" moments. Fun as hell, and the combat system is a joy to experience so far.

This pretty much sums up my feelings on it so far. It's totally a product of Japan.
I had absolutely NO idea what was going on right from the get go and I still had fun. This game is wacky!
This game is cheesy as fuck but it is quite a bit of fun. The cutscenes are cheap as hell though.
I kinda want a Live gamerpic of the little 'Rodin giving the thumbs up' graphic in his store. Hopefully it's unlockable via achievables.

Agreed. I see what they're going for in the filmreel stills ... but yeah, it's a cop-out.
I'm sort of holding off on this for a while. a) I have lots of other games to get through b) I'd like to see if they come through with a patch for the PS3 version.
Picked it up anyway. The graphics are pretty average when compared to something like DMC4. Lots of screen tear and it all feels quite murky.

The actual combat is great when you get into it.

The loading issues are tolerable, but make the game feel quite sluggish.
I'm loving the 360 version, but I really can't understand why they didn't give the PS3 version sufficient care and attention, considering the game is so very Japanese.
I have a feeling this will drop in price fast like DMC4 so I'm definitely waiting.
This may be the worst programmed game I've played on the PS3.

An example from the end of level 2...
1. It loads the level
2. You walk through a door
3. It loads the cutscene
4. You press start
5. It loads the pause menu(!)
6. You ask to skip the cutscene
7. It asks for confirmation to skip the cutscene
8. It starts loading the next bit of gameplay, while you look at a static image of Bayonetta standing next to a wall
9. Suddenly there's a hole in the wall. Still loading
10. The hole in the wall is filled by bosses head
11. Actual gameplay starts!
12. You die
13. Go to the death screen and ask to continue.
14. Go back to step 1.
Ok... apparently pressing R2 + select skips the cutscenes. I'll have try this out later.

Edit: Yeah this works.
