Bayonetta - Page 2

whoops, double post
Not to be snooty but none of those are issuses on the 360 version.

It's interesting that devoted japanese developers could make the game run so much better on a foreign console than their native one. Makes me wonder what was going on behind the scenes.

Anyway I believe I am one chapter away from completion, with the next one being titled "Epilouge" and all, and I have to say it's been one helluva a ride. I was only 4 chapters in when I felt it was already better than the whole of Devil May Cry 4, which was kinda (escpecially the Dante levels) just there.

Yeah I don't think Dante's Inferno is looking so good after playing this, save for the hellish imagery, tits, and vagina tentacles.

Still have high hopes for God of War 3 though.

I could be wrong about this, but I have read that Platinum Games developed the game for the 360 and publisher Sega did the port to the PS3.

If anyone else has been watching the issue with the PS3 port, it seems Sega have (finally) announced an install to HDD option.

Yeah, from what you said in your post about all the loading times...an HDD install option is just crucial. I'm gonna wait for that patch to come out before I go rent the game.

I got the patch. It vastly improves the pace of the game. Still got a few visual issues, but the enjoyment factor has gone back up a fair bit.

Is that patch available on the Playstation Online store, Kriegaffe?

Durr cuz no one owns an xbox in Japan durr so what option do they have doy

But seriously, thats a sad fact when an inferior port on a native stystem sells better simply because Japan hates Xbox.

Anyway, beat the game, played again on hard, beat it again, got all but one of the Gold LPs, taking a break from playing in Infinite Climax mode and beating 100 chapters to get the final LP to play the sequels for Uncharted and Mass Effect.

Lent out Darksiders to a friend and he gave me Bayonetta. Looking forward to giving it a try.

Australia is a bit ahead of the US timezone-wise so we got it a bit earlier.

When it's available, you'll get the patch when you put the disk in to launch the game. Can't miss it. 138 meg patch. 4.5 gig install from the main menu.

Having actually played the game properly now, I think it's lots of fun. From the 3rd chapter on it gets quite awesome. Out running lava flows running horizontally along the buildings, reversing time to fix destroyed structures, slamming dragon-face things around and ripping off their heads. It's gloriously over the top.

The item equiping mechanic is nice and interesting (who doesn't want to equip four shotguns simultaneously?). Right now I've got a glowing samurai sword in my hands and flaming claws attached to my feet.

Having played DMC 1,3 and 4 I find the combat in this better done. You don't have to be super talented player to pull of cool looking and effective moves. Witch Time is a really great mechanic. Only a few insta-death moments (quick time events) and unclear moments (using the statue-lift thing and a few jumping moments) spoil it.
I agree that it's a pretty fun game, even for a person like me who aren't really into the DMC type games. I kinda suck in pulling out the combos but I still managed to get thru the game all right.
How's your rating in the game? I've got mostly bronze with a few silver and gold in the levels. And that's just on Normal. Man I suck.

With two kids and not much time or patience for hard video games, I tend to wuss out and just play 'Easy mode'. So I'm getting some gold and platinum medals on the way through.

Note: The 'automatic' part in Easy-automatic is an amulet thing that is simply equiped in the item menu. You can unequip that and it's Easy without the auto-combo stuff.

There is ridiculous depth to the combat, once I figured out how to change equipped weapons. There was a lot of depth before that, but it's pretty crazy now.

Yes, this is definitely true. Probably the most deep combat system that I've seen in a game of this type except for maybe the Ninja Gaiden series but God are the story and characters stupid.

I'm only two chapters in, but can someone tell me if the rest of the game stops seemingly every couple minutes to indulge in an overly long and poorly paced cut scene? This is getting to Metal Gear levels of annoying. Aside from maybe an intro and outro to each chapter/level, designers need to tell their story in the context of the game.
The cutscenes are nowhere near as long as Metal Gear. But they're even more Japanese!

The annoying cutscenes do not stop but they do get a little more ridiculous. I really didn't like the slideshow ones either.

In general, the game ramps up from the 3rd chapter onwards (the burning town). The ridiculous factor kicks in and there are lots of epic fights.

So I replayed a few chapters to get the remaining LP pieces to get the Ice Skates and the Rocket Launchers. Its fun freezing enemies and Bayonetta looks pretty sexy gliding along like an olympic skater with a katana on her back.

The spin moves that have her firing in all directions are pretty crazy with the rockets and lazer guns equipped. Reminded me of the Last Starfighter.

Anyway, after doing all that I figured I could take a break from my current Mass Effect 2 addiction to try the Infinite Climax difficulty...

...

Screw that man! No Witch Time is gonna be too much of a Bitch Time. Some enemies as it is are nigh unbeatable with Witch Time. Add to that that alot of the harder enemy types show up ealier than normal with raised attack power and life force.

I can tell this will just be one exercise in frustration.

Dante must Die modes in the DMC series were brutal but they didn't lock off Devil Trigger, just the ability to regen health with activated.

Cowers back to Mass Effect...

Played through on EZmode cause I'm not a masochist and had a total blast every minute of the game. The cutscenes are so quirky/cute/hilarious in the "Oh, Japan!" kind of way, you're really missing out on half the game's charm if you're skipping them. Yes, the film reel ones are cheap, but the amount of full motion ones is equal if not greater and they get pretty insane later in the game.

Also, *spoilers?* love when you "beat" the game, and then halfway through the credits they cut out and suddenly you're actually finishing the game, and then playing through little slices of action during the REAL credits for extra medals.

OH, JAPAN! >^_^<

I just picked Bayonetta up yesterday. Starting on level six, so far its fun as hell. Combat system is great. Lots of attitude, and generally just a fun game to play between Modern Warfare and the latest GTA two game pack.
Ok, I'm stuck, I'll admit it. Chapter 6, defeated all the demons inside the gate, can not get the door open, I know the three pads need to be pressed quickly, but I can not get witch time? to engage, what am I doing wrong?
Just got this yesterday, courtesy the honorable mongycore. Only a few missions in, but loving every ridiculous minute. DMC hasn't got shit on this. It's a stronger, more entertaining game in every single aspect.

And goddamn am I glad I didn't buy this on PS3 like I almost did the other day.

I'm half inspired to run as a Canadian Member of Parliament right now...or not. It was a fair trade, I'm just really surprised it came so quickly.

11 chapters in.

This is definitely making my top 5 gaming experiences of the year.
