Washington Archdiocese to D.C.: No Same Sex Marriage or we'll dump the homeless

Talk about an offer they can't refuse...

The Catholic Archdiocese of Washington said Wednesday that it will be unable to continue the social service programs it runs for the District if the city doesn't change a proposed same-sex marriage law, a threat that could affect tens of thousands of people the church helps with adoption, homelessness and health care.
In the article they compare this with a wedding cake maker who doesn't want to make a cake for a gay couple. I think this is a little different from denying someone a cake vs. denying them adoption rights, a homeless shelter, or health care.

"If they find living under our laws so oppressive that they can no longer take city resources, the city will have to find an alternative partner to step in to fill the shoes,"

Nice.

On the flipside, Argentinian courts authorized the first gay marriage today. It will take place december 1st. I really hope it starts a turn in the current laws.

To be fair, the Catholic Church really needs Americans to have something to associate the church with, besides the nationwide pedophelia ring.

Did I say fair? I meant "fuck 'em." How many state elections does this church have to meddle with before they get their tax exemption revoked? Tax the fuckers double. Tax them into extinction.

Jesus knows how to play the game. How else did he get that cushy office at Jehovah, Christ, Pierce, Fenner and Ziggy?

Christ looks like he's played by Diedrich Bader in that painting

The Church wants to have a say in policy? Fair enough, it's a democracy. You know what else is fair? Them paying taxes.

Make them decide between principles and money.

Couldn't agree more. You can't operate outside of the system and still expect to be able to affect change within the system.

Wait, what am I saying? Of course you can.

USA!!! USA!!! USA!!!

Fine. They want no part of the secular system? Then find their own electricity, water and sewage.
