I enjoyed the first one a lot, and found its representation of violence pretty unique and interesting. If I may quote myself from an old review because it's been a while and I can't recall the experience enough to describe it well:
Quote:
| One detail I must note is the death animation. Not everyone you shoot dies immediately; they sometimes writhe around (silently, thankfully) on the ground. I paid no attention until I was setting up an ambush in a room in which I'd felled six or seven police officers, and at the bottom of the frame I could incidentally see a wounded cop. He clutched the air; his face held an expression of fear and confusion. ... Not at all like typical video game violence, thoughtlessly blowing away faceless thugs with no consequence, Kane & Lynch treats its violence, while gratuitous, with an uncommon gravity and severity. |
I don't know if anyone else was so powerfully affected by that, but personally I aimed for the legs for the rest of the game. So yeah, I'm really looking forward to the sequel.
