Chris Matthews is an idiot

There, I said it.

Time and time again I've seen him say stuff that is just completely absurd. In fact, I swore off his program after he interviewed a racist woman during the 2008 DNC. He let her ramble on for MINUTES on air with racist ideas about Obama's birth. He asked her questions about her sources, and she just kept repeating "I wont tell you!". Seriously. And he kept her (a crazy woman, not a pundit) on air for like 3 minutes. His only response after this sad episode? "That's a point of view"

Seriously.

Anyway, he's done it again:
Quote:

President Obama has his chin out on just about every hot issue out there. Health care. Terror trials. Job losses." Matthews began. He then launched a series of aggressive questions going after many of the president's recent decisions.

"Is he just too darned intellectual? Too much the egghead? Why did he bow to that Japanese emperor? Why did he pick Tim Geithner to be his economic front-man? Why all this dithering over Afghanistan? And who thought it was a wonderful idea to bring the killers of 9/11 to New York City, the media capital of the world, so they could tell their story?"
First off, SHUT UP ABOUT THE BOW. Are you literally retarded, Chris? The issue should not be whether or not he bowed, but how low he bowed. If he bowed lower than the Emperor, then it's an issue. Otherwise, it's respectful and normal courtesy. This story has been going for days and still no one has bothered to mention the basic facts about Japanese bowing.

"Dithering on Afghanistan"? Jesus Christ, Chris, do I need to play back your quotes on the Iraq War? You were a cheerleader with a homoerotic fixation on Bush's flight suit cod piece. "Dithering"? How about "Planning out the next 10 years of American military involvement in the middle east"? He better damn well take his sweet time. He's not planning a bachelor party

As for his question regarding 9/11 trials: SHUT UP. Did the President do this so "so they could tell their story"? No. He did it so that the people of New York could put them to death (I'm anti death penalty, but to suggest Obama did it to give the terrorists a better media platform is absurd. There won't even be cameras in the court room)

So anyway, that's what's pissing me off this morning

Watch the video, the text alone doesn't do it justice.
Listening to his whinny nasal voice has become unbearable for me, and from this point forward I won't be tuning into his program again

PS, I've met Matthews, and he's super rude. Tim Russert was much nicer.

This is not the 'inexplicably pick on Kate' thread. Unless I have my own TV show, I should be held to different standards than Mr Matthews

As shameful as I found his unconditional man-crush on Bush, I still watch Matthews for those rare moments when he gets his intelligence insulted and his inner journalist comes out of hibernation.

Right now I'm watching Matthews grill the fuck out of some Catholic Bishop over what precisely would be the appropriate legal penalties for a woman who got an abortion if the procedure was ever criminalized. The cleric doesn't appear to have ever thought that far out about the matter. It's turning into a pretty long and uncomfortable segment, and it's quite beautiful to behold. Matthews is even busting out the quote from Jesus about rendering unto Caesar what is Caesar's as a biblical defense of church/state separation. Preach, Tweety, preach!

Edit: Up next is Eugene Robinson vs Pat Buchanan. C'mon, that's entertainment!

Rheokhu,

I sort of see what you're saying. That's why I kept watching even after the incident I mentioned from last summer. His guests can be ok sometimes (Robinson), and when he ccan be bothered to wake from his mental slumber, he can tear a guest down

Execpt it's so rare as to not be worth it anymore. For example, he had on the guy with the "tree of liberty" sign and the hand gun, and the guy kept saying "I'm not a threat to the president" "I'm just trying to send a message". Chris NEVER asked the basic, obvious question: "What was your message, then?" "Were you trying to inspire OTHERS to do him harm?"

He just misses the point, over and over and over. He lets the most absurd crap fly day in and day out, and then on the 7th day he tears up some straw man and pretends his show is still "hard ball". No, it's 99.9 percent soft ball, and then sometimes he gets tough.

And then sometimes he starts in with stuff about the Japan bow, without knowing anything about bowing in Japan, and I just get fed up

Anyway, I'm done with him for now. I can catch Robinson on COUNTDOWN if I want my WaPo fix.

PS My brother worked with Robinson last summer at the DNC!
