Chuck - Season 3 - Page 5

I can kind of see where she's coming from, though. Like she said last week, her "red test" (wtf kind of name is that?) was the worst day of her life. Through Chuck she saw a chance at redemption/normalcy. That was taken away when she thought she saw Chuck kill a dude. It kind of matched her elation when Casey told her the truth.

Anyway, I fucking loved this episode. Everything got laid out on the table with no pussyfooting and it was really entertaining. The idea of the G approving a low altitude strike over a massive population center with a damn stealth bomber makes no sense whatsoever but, hey, it looked cool.

Next week is the original season finale. Looks like it will be pretty great but I'm really interested to see where they go when season 3.5 starts up at the end of April.

So, yeah ... its pretty obvious that Chuck's first kill is going to be Shaw.
Ben W, Obviously that would just be a...Killer move! I love the episode, and the idea that Sarah's first kill, is the wife of her fellow agent.

I want Casey, Morgan and Awesome to remain teamed up from now till the end of the show's run. So much brilliance could be had ...

That. Plus the Jeffster stalking squad.

Obvious, but thematically right.

Last night's episode was great, but I realize what the show has been missing lately.

I miss the girl on girl fights and Sara in skimpy outfits. There I said it.
So, Shaw's been straight this whole time and not playing some double agent game to set up Sarah. He just didn't know who killed his wife. From the video they showed of the "kill", did it look like she got shot in the shoulder? I mean, when Shaw's wife got hit, she spun to her left. Don't think she would have spun if she had taken a slug to the center of her chest. So, with just a shoulder wound, she could have survived and still be with the Ring. It's Chuck, so I might be overthinking it. Of course, it's Chuck; so this is exactly the sort of thing they might do.
I can't be the only one who loved the funky electronic/church organ music that was playing during the Shaw's Wife reveal and Shaw waking up from his coma. Really over the top, and kind of silly, but it really fit the scenes.

Really loved the episode, I'm a complete sap but I was completely overjoyed to see Sarah and Chuck finally hook up.

Overall, I really liked this episode, but does anyone believe for a second that they'll move the show to Rome/wherever? I really wish I thought that was possible. I could forgive a lot of goofy plot twists if the show were that unpredictable.

Also, and it's too late now, but she and Shaw had absolutely no chemistry. I couldn't believe their relationship for one second.
I'm in total agreement. It's the old rom-com move of making one person a heel in order to present a romantic hurdle. The problem is that you've made one of the people your audience is supposed to care about a heel. Or in this case, a massive hypocrite.

There was also Chuck's, "You have to believe me!" followed by Sarah's, "I don't."

The episode glossed over it, but that would have been a pretty big deal to me.

I'm this close to starting a search party for Yvonne Strahovski's body, because we haven't seen any evidence of its existence since around January.

I wouldn't go that far. She filled the fuck out of that little dress she wore at the diner.

Okay, look at Bryce and Shaw. Now look at Chuck. He had to have something different going for him in order to snag Sarah. It was his charm, innocence, and decency. This has been an ongoing theme with this show. Chuck feels insecure and driven to become more like the kind of guy Sarah might love: a suave, competent "real" spy like Bryce and Shaw. Sarah, of course, loves him primarily because he isn't like Bryce and Shaw. She has often shown reluctance to taking Chuck down the road to becoming a real spy. She worries that it will stamp out everything that was good and special about him. Passing his final test by killing a man was like a point of no return. She had planned on leaving her spy life behind to live a normal, decent life with a normal, decent guy. Then she thought that the crazy world she wants to escape had sucked him in and destroyed what was best about him.

But that's the thing, why the hell is she so attracted to him when her dating profile indicates she likes guys like Bryce and Shaw? To go from one extreme to the other was questionable to begin with, but we went with the flow of the show. Now that Chuck is becoming a spy, exactly the thing she's always been attracted to - and still is - why is she pulling away so hard? It would be one thing if Sarah felt guilt over turning Chuck into a killer, and thus didn't feel like she deserved him. But, the issue she has is that Chuck is (seemingly) willing to do it, not that she is the one who put him on that track (sort of). God, it's so confused right now. It's like if I liked girls who played video games, then was attracted to a girl because she didn't like video games (wha???). Then got turned off when she started playing them because I did. Ok, this isn't making any sense.

Again, am i the only one noticing that Routh's eyes look high all the time? Or he had pinkeye for months. Plus, he's as boring as they come. The guy's delivery, his mannerisms, terrible. And i loved him in the past.

I wonder if that's a consequence of not knowing much about his character. I wouldn't be surprised if the casting notice was along the lines of good-looking super spy, and not much else. Maybe the writers have been fleshing out Shaw as they go and Routh's been having to wing it in terms of character. Or, maybe he's just stinking up the joint. Too bad, I liked him as Clark Kent/Superman.

LOVE this potentially unintended reference. I was hoping the episode was homaging the Luc Besson classic La Femme Nikita instead of the mediocre American remake with Bridget Fonda, Point of No Return. Unfortunately they actually name drop Point of No Return and there were no bricked up windows, so I'm unsure.
We'd probably be more willing to forgive the poor romantic logic if Routh and Strahovsky didn't have less chemistry than Amish siblings being forced to feign romance at gunpoint.

They've really messed up Sarah this season. She's gone from ass-kicking sexy super-spy to romantically retarded girl who stays in the car and has 3 bad hairstyles each episode. Did budget cuts force them to use Supercuts trainees on Strahovski's hair? It's distracting how weird it looks in some scenes.
This whole season has been a mess. I've lost interest in the Chuck/Sarah relationship pretty much completely and they could blow up Buy More save for Casey and I'd be OK with it. I'll keep watching to see where they'll go with the added six episodes, but I doubt I'll watch Season 4 if there is one.

I’m a lot more positive about the season than most of you guys, although I’ve been taking the show as singular episodes than as one long arc powered show, but I’ve gotta say that aside from one specific episode the show has kind of looked terrible at times this year. Compared to other shows it’s looked kind of flat and lifeless. When you compare how neat and visual the show was in its second season (the Tom Sawyer fight springs to mind) it’s a real shame that’s it become so drab.

The direction has been kind of listless for the last half dozen episodes and it’s just felt kind of stagey and Strahovski has looked kind of out of sorts the last few episodes. I put it down to uncanny valley after playing Mass Effect 2 but it seems to be a commonly held opinion. Maybe shows like The Wire, Battlestar, Lost and Supernatural have spoilt me in terms of how great a TV show can look but at the moment I’d say even sitcoms like 30 Rock and Community and even How I Met Your Mother have better, more interesting, direction.

Spike Marshall, The Wire, Ron D. Moore's Battlestar Galactica, Supernatural and Lost are all...terrible shows. I will take even a...Bad episode of Chuck over any of them. I did not see any bad episodes of Chuck this season, and I hope it gets renewed. This generation of tv series has fallen far from the golden era...The early to mid 80's, when The A-Team, T.J. Hooker, Knight Rider, Airwolf, The Fall Guy, Hunter, Miami Vice, The Master, Blue Thunder and Street Hawk were on.

NO, he's right. It's been a mess.
Chuck and Sarah have gone from being together, to loving each other, to getting new love interests that last a few episodes to coming back together, to ... you get my point. Complete wheel spinning. It has certainly lacked something, it kinda bores me now.

Chuck is a fun show but The Wire is unassailable.

For real; about 75% of this season was unnecessary. If there is a season 4, the Chuck/Sarah relationship MUST be resolved; better yet, it needs to be resolved after next week's episode.

I found a brand new interview with Chris Fedak about the future of Chuck. I appreciate how most of the questions don't pull any punches about what has and hasn't worked on the show this year.

What a great ep! But the best news is that, Casey, becomes reinstated as...Colonel Casey again after capturing the head of...The Ring. Classic!
Yay! That was a good episode, and I was glad to see the Shaw story play out like that. I hope they do a "he's not really dead" story line later. He played his part well and I was glad to see Routh in a roll like this. No clue where they go from here, but I hope they avoid any on-again-off-again drama with Chuck and Sarah for a while as that would be too easy.

The best Chuck summary episode. Predictable, yet completely entertaining.

very good stuff last night. It will be interesting to see Morgan as part of the "crew".

The previews for the next couple of episodes look pretty damn great.
Great episode. Loved the James Bond type ending with Beckman turned around on the computer with Chuck and Sarah getting down to business.

Dunno about Morgan being part of the crew but we'll see. Casey asking for a new Crown Victoria was pretty good too.

That was a great Series finale. Too bad it wasn't.
It felt like a series finale so I'm kind of interested where the show is going to go with this new status quo. The little Chuck/Shaw scuffle in Paris was really well done and I quite liked how benevolent Shaw was even at his most malevolent. It's like even consumed by anger he's a decent guy.
My greatest fear with this show now is that they'll have no idea how to write a relationship (as opposed to the flirtation they've been writing for 3 seasons), will poop the bed, and people will say, "See?!? You can't get the characters together! It ruins the show!" When the truth is that the rule only applies to shitty writers.
I would be very pleased had this been the series ending. I hope that with every major thread tied up they will stop bothering with all the angst and give us a final stretch of fun episodes to go out with.

No kidding. When Chuck got the Intersect 2.0, they couldn't write it for shit. So they kept putting in stupid stuff to gimp it. It started to just be really annoying for the 20th time Chuck couldn't flash in a deadly situation for no particular reason.

Plus the intersect2 seems to just be a way to skip Kung Fu classes.

Finally finished "Chuck vs The Other Guy" yesterday. Season 3 has its ups-and-downs, but I must say it finished at a high note. Chuck & Sarah finally a couple, Chuck gets his first kill from Shaw, and the episode ends in Paris with C&S hitting the hay in Paris. Of course, Morgan becoming part of the team and Casey got reinstated after taking out The Ring all by himself are just icy on the cake. Since the next six eps are new ones NBC ordered after they filmed "vs The Other Guy" as the season finale, it'd be interesting to see how they can one-upped themselves, and I hope they will be able to.

Not true. But they had the season outlined and partially written, and decided not to add six filler episodes in the middle of the arc they had drawn up.

It's gonna be hard waiting 3 weeks for a new episode of Chuck.

JPL, A lot of people would Up...CHUCK, their Subway, sandwiches, if NBC cancelled, This excellent show. I am glad that after the management said...NBCU later to Jay Leno in prime time they added the 6 episodes of Chuck, for our viewing pleasure.

I need the Drunk-Texan Sarah action figure today!
The General telling Chuck and Sarah "Off The Record...It's about time" , when she learned about their dating each other, is just...Classic.
Fun episode.. Sarah spending most of the episode in her underwear was sorely missed throughout most of the season.

Morgan in action was pretty great too.
Now that was proper Chuck. After all this stuff this season this almost was like a release valve going off. These are the types of episodes I'm going to miss if Chuck goes off the air.

I was just about to give up on this show completely but the last 2 episodes have been some of the best of the entire season. Still, I'm on the fence for now.
The funniest comment I read about Chuck on the internet:

"I didn't know Beckman was a shipper!"
I'm pretty sure Strahovski has never looked hotter than in that scene in the kitchen with Morgan. And that's really saying something.
I preferred her dress during their first meeting with their future selves, actually. But that's splitting hairs!

Nice that they simultaneously remembered they were employing one of the hottest women in Hollywood and decided to let her character be something besides a cipher for fantasy crushes. She had better lines and a more distinct perspective than in any previous episode, and the show was much better for it.
Loved the serious turn at the end of the episode. Next week's looks good too.
Ever since Chuck vs The Other Guy the show has been nothing short of amazing, because they finally let Chuck & Sarah be together and no more of that horsing around or beating around the bushes. Yvonne has never looked hotter imo. However, with NBC signing JJ Abrams' new series Undercovers (about a married couple who are spies), I do have some concerns for Season 4 renewal. I hope NBC won't cancel the series, although if there's a network who has one gaffe after another, it's NBC.
