Anyone else read the book after the announcement of the new version by the Coens? I have to say, it is a book which the more I reflect on the funnier it becomes when I start thinking more about the narrator.

I just finished this last week. I'm really curious to see what the Coens do with this, especially if they remain faithful to the book, keeping Mattie the narrator or at the very least the main protagonist.

Anyway, I really did enjoy the book. Tons of great and funny dialogue. I'm a horrible critic, but I did like it.

I just keep coming back to Mattie as the narrator and realizing she is telling or writing this story as an old woman (or older woman) and how much is unreliable and colored by her and that makes bits of it funnier. I also love the fact that Rooster is never really redeemed as a person and like a lot of the old gunfighters who were damned to live, he goes out in a pretty sad way.
