Well, the selling power issue remains to be seen. Until yesterday, he hadn't been on a course for months, and we're still in the midst of the hoopla. Of course it's going to take a hit while he's in the midst of the controversy. I think in a year's time though, his commercials will probably be back on the air, and his sponsors won't be the worse for wear. I just think that people who bought products because of Tiger are generally going to be less bothered by his past indescretions, and they'll continue buying those products. His reception at the first hole of the Masters spoke volumes about how golf fans see Tiger now.
Certainly you're right that he has to show that he's learned a big lesson and stay controversy free. Media outlets everywhere are just waiting to pounce on any little slip up whether it be a rant on the course, a DUI, partying at a club, etc. I would hope that Tiger has good enough handlers, and a bit more common sense than he did before that he knows he's on thin ice. Plus, there's still the issue of his family. If he wants to salvage his marriage, there's no room for error.
