You're telling me! I plan spending that day with this bottle, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, and Inglourious Basterds.

Glad everything arrived okay. I usually also give a NY inspired gift, but I had to cut back on expenses. I hope you and the Mrs. love PD as much as I do. You'll have to introduce her to the wily charms of Mr. Seagal!

I want to publicly thank Hammerhead for his generosity, i know how much he spent shipping that here.
The Yankee in me wants to keep trying (it's probably also what got me into this mess, barging in unprepared and all), but thank you for your understanding.

You're welcome, Whirlybird! Sounds like you have quite the day planned with that thing o beauty!
Yeah, me too.
I thank you all, really.
But there's no need to spend all that cash. I don't want to give them the satisfaction.

I've been doing my research, and i've found a store that sells the item Hammerhead sent my way, for half the price of the tax. Which would translate from pesos to roughly u$s40 So i'll work it out somehow.

I don't want all that money spent on my behalf! I need a clean conscience for the holidays!

Love you all btw.

I'm still in for a ten spot. No one should buy their own Xmas swap gift.
Ahahaha I can tell my friends next year that the director of Don't Be Afraid of the Dark bought me a christmas present???
You have my axe. Which is worth about $20.00.*

*"Make it out of cooper", they said. "It'll be nice and strong", they said. Stupid thing bent in half on the first goblin head I tried to cleave. You melt it down, it should be worth about that much.

And the sound effects editor of Freezer Burn starring Tom Green and Crispin Glover...what? Well, my mom thinks it's cool.
aahahaha
only thing i would say how this could work is via paypal. I wouldn't accept over 5 bucks from people. But if 5 put that amount, i'll put up the rest. Would that work for you guys?
My organizational skills go to shit this time of year, but whoever ends up owning said hat, I'm in for $20.
My paypal info is info@plusvisualization.com (it's my office's paypal, to the name of my boss Juan Bendayan)
If you send FIVE bucks there, and JUST FIVE JUSTIN! i'll cash it and fetch the gift!

Thank you all, for everything. It proves how awesome chewers are.

Fuck you 5 bucks, I said 20 you're getting 20! Merry Fucking Christmas from a random asshole on the Internet!
Well, while Tati's gift sits in exile, he still graciously sent me this:

The Simpsons S10 set (I already have 1 - 9 so this is an amazingly welcome addition, obviously) and From the Earth to the Moon - which I haven't seen a single second of, so I'm very VERY excited to get to watch it. He honestly couldn't have picked anything better.

Thanks bud - not just for this one little box but for everything else. Lots of random acquaintances around these parts but I truly do consider you one of my actual friends. And an awesome one at that. Merry Christmas, fella. To you and your big package.

EDIT: Goddammit - wrong IMG code. Fixed it.
I got you a picture of lincoln ??? haha
More than welcome. You know i love you!
You are all amazing. Really.
I'll post pictures next week.

Seriously you guys, I'm humbled. The kindness of strangers and all that.

Now back to business! Has anyone not yet heard from their partners?
Yeeeeah, so in the process of sending $5, one of my cats--wouldn't you know it--walked across my keyboard, and hit the dollar sign, the 2, and the 0 keys, and when he ran off, he hit the left click on the touchpad right when the cursor was over the Send Money button.

What a little shithead.
If you guys include Brits in this... I'd like to partake next year; I know of some very juicy Eureka 'Masters Of Cinema' dvds I'd like to buy someone who'd appreciate 'em!
ahahahaha you awesome guys, i've already got enough to pay for it!
So don't spend any more money, please.
Troy, Ludwig and Justin, your generosity will be known forever.
Now, Moral question time.

Since this is your money, you get to decide the fate of Dug.
You guys sent me enough to cover the crazy tax and bust the Dug that Hammerhead sent me out of postal prison. But i'm still incredibly pissed at them and part of me wants to tell them to go fuck themselves and stuck them with the bill (UPS already paid the money to the customs office beforehand, so they'd lose the 220 if i don't pay them up).

The other option is to buy the same item locally, at half the price and use the extra money to get other stuff as well. So that dug is kept company by the rest of the Up gang.

So, pros and cons = i want to get HAMMERHEAD's gift. He sent me that, and i should get that. But i hate that we have to spend so much money getting it.

What do you guys think?
Bust him outta postal prison. Hammerhead's Dug was a) picked with love, b) traveled around the WORLD to see you and c) has been sitting in a dark box for who knows how long. The one in the store will be bought and sent home for some kid to play with - if you don't get Hammerhead's it'll probably get sent off to some warehouse filled with UPS' Top Men.

You've seen Toy Story. Don't send Jessie back into storage.
Get Hammerhead's gift. The story about how you busted him out of Argentinean Postal Prison will pay off in the future.
I just read through this page, and I am absolutely honored to be associated even indirectly with you guys. I needed some good news right now, and the generosity displayed in this thread has provided it and then some. I'm so very proud to be a member of this board.

OK, now back to the dick jokes.

My money was given freely and without any expectations attached. If you were to use it to go on a weekend coke rampage, I will still consider it money well spent. Especially if you post pics.
I've been convinced by Judas and Jeremy, 2 great friends on busting our Dug out of prison.
Like i said, i want Hammerhead's gift. As it was intended. It's just the anti capitalist in me that hated paying a corporation that amount to get it out.
Sometimes we have to work within the system to free the ones we love.
Steven Seagal just called - he wants to option the Chewer Gift Exchange for his next film.

I'm cool with that. I like the idea that the customs guys are probably thinking they're going to be getting free gifts to bring home, BUT THEN you walk in to pay them off. They look shocked, then dumbfounded when you pay the bill and walk out of the office while the anthem from Top Gun plays, Dug in hand.
I'm imagining you playing with Tati jr in 10 years, telling him the 'Saga of Dug'. It won't be a toy anymore, it will be a RELIC.
Yeah, i'm leaving town today for a few days. I'll handle it next week!

The acquiring of Dug or the making of Tati Jr?
hahaha Dug, i hope Tati Jr waits 5 years at least.

I hate to ruin the surprise, but now that it's EVERYBODY's present I need to reveal that the imprisoned dog is not a talking Dug, but a talking Alpha. So Tati, no offense taken if you acquire a Dug on your own.
Great, I can have them in a constant stare off!
You should make a movie out of this. A Toy getting sent to another country via postal and ending up in "jail" with other items.
It would kinda rip off Toy Story, but vary the times to not just toys and it could work.

Shit! I was away from the computer yesterday. Came in today to donate and now I'm screwed out of my generous act. Glad you were able to get your gift, Tati!
Whirlybird is simply AWESOME!!

He got me, well here are the lyrics to one of my favorite musicals of all-time

"If I were a rich man,
Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum."

I told him that the single disc of this movie would be fantastic because all I wanted was the movie. What does he do? Gets me the special edition!

As an added treat I got one of his favorite CD's - feist's let it die. I love when others introduce me to music that I've never heard before and I can't wait to listen to it tonight.

You should still donate some money. I have no problems living vicariously through Tati's seemingly amazing social life, but I've heard that in order to maintain that kind of life, injections of cash are required now and again. Think of the pictures. Do it for the boards.

René sent me two volumes of Marvel Zombies, which should make some interesting holiday reading. Plus Appaloosa on DVD-- I'd been meaning to see that one.
Figured you'd like Appaloosa, Hammerhead. Those are the first two volumes of Marvel Zombies so if you dig them, most of the others are available. The first one is really funny. Merry Christmas!

Glad to hear that it got there before the end of this week, considering I shipped it wednesday afternoon.
Damn it. I was away for the weekend and missed sending you money, Tati. But I have an idea how I can make it up to you.
Came back and found Diva's contribution! I can't thank people enough, but please, listen to men... STOP SENDING MONEY
I've got enough to free Alpha from postal jail (which should happen this week) and even get a Dug to keep him company!

THANK YOU all, it's an amazing thing you've done.
I don't have any gifts held hostage at a South American post office, but I could so use money right now for a new car stereo. PM me for my PayPal.

I was going to wait until I had everything Ryan S sent in front of me, but rather than delay my gratitude, I'll just post what I remember now and edit in what I forget later.

- Ebert's I Hated This Movie
- a Pauline Kael book
- a scotch buyer's guide (It was time to turn in my AA card anyway)
- Batman Arkham Asylum GN
- David Carradine's Kill Bill Diary
- a Bone GN
- two vintage posters
- two or three DVDs, the names of which I cannot remember just now but will edit in later
- two kickass movie posters, the names of which I cannot remember just now but will edit in later

I'm truly awed by the thoughtfulness (given my blog about Ebert and the curiosity I've expressed about Kael) and sheer generosity Ryan put in to his selections. My lady commented, "The CHUD guy sent you all of that?" We've been trying to save money, and she honestly thought I'd raided a used bookstore behind her back.

Ludwig's gift was harder to find than I expected, but it has finally been acquired and will be shipped tomorrow afternoon. I think I'll take a page from Ryan and include some used stuff to keep the spirit going.

You could get me 100% used, it's all good! I don't want to be a burden, and I am all about the thought! This year I was able to get away with purchasing everything for my gift partner because of a great year for us, but in previous gift exchanges I have given used / d/l'ed / whatever stuff.
Ludwig, you know me well. In fact, perhaps too well! Guess what book I am currently reading? A Canticle for Leibowitz! But I thank you for an extra copy and for all your gracious gifts, especially The Invisibles trade, as I've been meaning to bust into those after a college friend showed me them. I'm at work, so I will properly insert the names of the other books when I get home, but they sounded freaking awesome (especially the end of the world comedy) and I thank you, sir! You are most gracious. I am now running out of shelf space because of you!

And the 2001/2010 Blu Ray set? Fucking A! Oh, so gorgeous.
