Here visiting family till Friday. I heard about that second storm, thankfully I have friends digging my car out for me. Now if I could just find a friend to pay the 200 dollars to replace the alternator...

Dealing with cars in a ND snowstorm... I don't know how you guys do it. I'll never bitch about how cold the subway station is again.

I hope it's not parked on the side of the road. They are towing cars for parking there now.

As for dealing with cars in ND, it's definitely a chore at times. I tend to walk to work, even though I have a car. Its only 6 blocks away, and I don't have to deal with the (many) shitty drivers.

I guess until Monday, my town is going to face one of our worst winter storms in years. -20 temps, tons of snow, and gusting winds.

My local news actually used the word "deadly" to discribe the situation.

eek.

Christ, could it be any more fucking freezing INSIDE my apartment? That jerkoff who lives in the big cozy apartment on the ground floor better ship up some goddamn heat to the rest of us!

The UK has fallen over once again due to Snow. This is my second day working at home because the Road Gritters have run out of salt.

Still I am growing a nice hobo beard.
It took me an hour and 45 minutes to get to fucking work this morning. It'll probably take me 3 hours to get home. This is the winter from hell.

We've been having highs in the 40s all week here in Orlando, dipping into the low 30s and upper 20s in some areas. I had frost on my car windows this morning. I'm sure that surprised the living hell out of some people.

My areas!!! I've had frost the past 4 mornings (actually ice this morning). We're supposed to get flurries on Sat (according to the weather men).

Welcome to our world!
I heard the same forecast about the flurries. We're supposed to have the front move through, warm things up briefly, then get cold again next week.

When I was a kid back in the 70s there was one night where this slushy frozen substance that very well could have passed for snow fell from the sky in Orlando, but other than that, I have never been in or seen real snow. Doubt this'll be close to that but we'll see.

Warning bragging ahead:

I just got back from a run in the park today. It was gorgeous, it was sunny and plus 7 Celcius (45 Farenheit)! It's been warm all week so all the snow has melted, it's like spring!

I know Winter will get it's revenge soon(it was plus 11 on Thursday) but I'm enjoying while I can.

Yeah, we've had a bit of a break in the winter as well. It's been unusually warm (mid 30s) for the past couple of days, and the roads have finally lost that layer of black ice that made the morning commutes sooooooo much fun.
We are getting hit again. It was freezing rain yesterday, and now its just snowing. Stocked up on groceries just in case it is as bad as the Christmas storm.

I am not sure if this is the right place, but.....

I'm looking for advice

Should I go see Frank Rich interview Stephen Sondheim tonight? Or should I not? I don't really care for Sondheim at all, so my question is basically "Is this so culturally important that I'd be a fool not to?"

I skipped out on McNamara when he was here to talk, and now he is dead

Basically I don't want that to happen again

50s here today. Not liking it, really. Winter should be mean snow and cold.

It got cold up here again, but I'm going to Abbotsford tomorrow to check out the Motorcycle show. I'm always jealous that guys down there can ride their bikes to the show.
FUCK it's cold! Gotta love those Arctic air masses! C'mon Friday hurry up and get out here so I don't have to wear the huge heavy coat just to get across campus.
Winter's back here, too, though we received only a dusting of snow Monday night. Temps in the 20s at night, high about 30 today.

It's the lack of snow here in the winter that I hate. If it's going to be cold, we ought to have snow on the ground.
bump.

So... who's trapped Day After Tomorrow style contemplating burning Tax Law books?

Tis the season!
Philly is currently in the process of breaking its' all-time snow accumulation record in one winter. Needless to say, I'm watching movie after movie after movie.
Very little snow here but the winds have been ludicrous today.
Yeah, I got to sit through that my first year in Wisconsin record snowfall over a winter and although I'm moving back to DC soon and grateful to leave these bastard Wisconsin winters behind, I'm glad I've managed to avoid the snowpocalypse there so far.
Snowpocalypse hit my town last night. A foot and a half in some areas. That's on top of the foot we already had.
Huh. So that's where our storm ended up when it trended further south than it was supposed to. We got about four inches, I think. Heart attack stuff.
Just when I thought we might be done with the big snow storms once and for all this winter, I wake up to 4-5 inches of snow this morning (didn't watch the weather reports at all the night before). Took me 1.5 hours to get to work this morning. And I got stuck a couple times, too.

But even so, I shouldn't be complaining. We've been VERY lucky this year in my area, especially compared to last winter when we got hit with one of the worst winter seasons I've ever lived through.
Despite the fact that it's still freezing cold outside the buzzwords are once again "FLOOD INSURANCE". The Red River is forecast to be more than a little cranky this year and all I can say is I'm so glad I don't live in Fargo and selfishly I hope this doesn't harm my plans to see friends and Mastodon in May.

EDIT: Minot is thankfully standing at only 6% chance of flooding at the moment but it's looking messy further up north on the Souris.
Despite my back really hurting, I helped out with the sandbagging in Burlington last year. Despite some people losing their homes, they were all in good spirits. Some people even had hamburgers and hot dogs for the people helping out. I hope it doesnt flood as bad this year, but I am more than willing to help out again if the shit hits.
I'm not going to start another thread. I'm just going to use this one to tell God we're sorry. Whatever my town did to piss you off, we won't do it again. Just please, no more snow. We'll be good.
