Pushing carts last year at Walmart was a bitch. They never clear their parking lot, so pushing carts for 15 min turned to be a 2 hour ordeal.

We got something like 2 inches of snow the first day and 16th St near Arrowhead turned into the demolition derby. They had a news crew recording it all. You would think some of these people would be used to driving in the snow.

Awww, dude. That's awesome, and ridiculously cute!

We're supposed to get our snow today - a wet sloppy mix, I don't think it's gonna be Christmas-pretty or anything.

So, here's what I woke up to this morning:

It's time to employ my one and only winter weather comment: (Whenever anyone says anything about the weather, I have only THREE phrases I will reply with. I'm not kidding)

1) There's a chill in the air
2) There's a storm a'brewin'
3) There's a warmth in the air (I added this one in the past year because I needed a phrase do describe warm weather, not just cold or stormy weather)

SO, seeing as how I'm looking out the window and the ground is covered in snow for the first time this year:

There's a chill in the air..

Snowing here in CT. Nothing "End of the world"but then again I havent turned on the local "fear news" yet.

Well, I was taking my wife to the dentist, kid in tow, when I hit a patch of ice on the toll road, causing the car to slide at about 50 miles an hour into both walls on the freeway. We're okay. It's been about 10 hours now and I'm still shaking about it. The car's probably totaled, though.

Woah. Glad to hear everyone's alright.

Glad you and the family are OK, dude. Better the car than you and yours.

Us Pineys got our first taste of snow today - mostly a dusting mixed with some icy/freezing rain. Winter hath come to the Barrens, yea.
It's a fucking blizzard outside. Time to go and play bumper cars for the evening commute.

Nordling: Glad that you're all ok.
Jesus, Nordling! Glad you and yours are okay!

Be careful out there if you've got bad weather, Chewers.
Looking forward to the 50MPH gusts tonight and tomorrow.
My 20 minute commute home took an additional hour. Fun stuff, fun stuff.

Forecast:
Quote:
Tonight: Rain, mainly before 4am. Temperature rising to around 50 by 1am. Southeast wind 14 to 18 mph becoming southwest. Winds could gust as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday: A chance of rain and snow before 10am, then a chance of snow. Cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 28 by 5pm. Breezy, with a west southwest wind between 24 and 29 mph, with gusts as high as 49 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%."
Fuck my life.
Whelp, I'm treed in my own damn parking lot. High-centered so I can't go forward or backward, and there's snow and 20-30 mph wind in my face. I just had to leave my car where it stopped.

Thank God it happened in my parking lot so I could still walk to my apartment and not, you know, out in the middle of nowhere.

Fuck winter. I'll take the cold, but fuck snow right in its evil ass.
How's everybody in the midwest doing after getting the snow dim mak the past couple days?

ETA: Sorry, the posts from the last two days didn't come up for me until I posted. But the question still stands: Is everyone safe?
30cm of snow! YES!

Again people: the only winter worth bitching about is the nuclear winter.
Safe here. It took my wife 2.5 hours to make it home last night (the norm is around 40 minutes). The roads were parking lots this morning, so we're both working from home. I may go in later, though.

30 cm? Oh, you mean a foot of snow (well, really 11.8 inches).
Yes Howard. But on the rest of the planet, it's 30cm. A much more precise and easier system to calculate our misery. We only use inches to mesure our penises.
We've covered this before.

Yes: we should have bitten the bullet and adopted the metric system like the rest of the world, but we didn't. We're just pissy that way.
Independently minded is a better phrase. Plus changing all of our packaging to deal with kgs etc? Not cheap. It's interesting to note, I deal with many foreign companies and they all seem to prefer dealing with lbs (we always offer kgs). The sole exception? China. 100% of the time they prefer kgs. Hence, the metric system is actually communist. Thus another reason to not convert.
All good in Milwaukee. Saved by the lake. Everyone else got buried, but it all turned to rain as it approached the water, and, now, it looks like a piña colada slushie machine exploded outside. Every other public university in the state is closed, except the one where DaveB and I work. Because our administration asked for an exception to the governor's declaration. Which is... :: sigh ::

The temperature is supposed to drop all day, though, and turn the city into a skating rink. To the rock salt!
I can lend you my sled dog if you guys need it. 50$ a miles.
Yeah, we got covered with snow. Even the stores are closing so you know it's legit.
Aaand they just closed campus. We're clearing out at 1 pm, due to the winds and temperature drop. Which means I get to help chase people out of the library.

I have this awesome mental image of you running through the stacks with a broom yelling "Scat! Scat!"
That would be more fun than they're going to let me have.
Good luck, Wisconsinites. The wind chill is brutal out there.
Yeah, I think the high for tomorrow is supposed to b 7 degrees (F). Should be fun.

Damnit. Now that's the image I have in my head.

"Woop! Woop! Woop!" *scuttling away whilst snapping claws*

Winter finally showed up, and he's a dick. I have to be at work at 12am. I park on an incline, and I have to back out to drive down my alley. Last night the backing out thing wasn't happening. I spun my wheels a good five minutes until I just drove forward into my yard. Between my place and my neighbors house. Right outside my neighbor's bedroom window. I made it to the street in front of my house, then headed on to work.

In the bigger cities, this kind of thing would probably get you arrested. Around here it's accepted, and quite frankly, expected.
Windchill this evening makes the temperature -42 ºC ( -43.6 ºF ). Naturally, my wife is going out to her friends place to outdoor hot tub and play poker. GOOOO WINNIPEG!
It's called Winterpeg for a reason, you know?
Currently sun burnt from power-washing the driveway yesterday.
Currently on my way to kick your ass.
High today of 84.

Bring it, Savage.
Hey, I'm sure you spent time at your driveway (shoveling snow). I just wanted to be there with you in spirit and got sun burnt for my efforts.
We're currently experiencing a heat wave that might...MIGHT...get the temperature up to 30 today. Time to unpack my shorts!

Nasty.

We were in Edmonton this weekend. It was the coldest city in Canada last night. -38 C with a windchill in the sub 50 area.

It was fun playing count the SUVs in the ditch on the way home this morning. A little hint to 4x4 drivers, it doesn't actually help if the entire road is ice.
I lived in Edmonton for about 4 months in 2005-2006 and I've gotta say I'll never miss how bitingly cold it got. Where abouts in Edmonton were you?
12 to 24 inches of snow for the Philly/Jersey corridor? Fuck that. On the other hand, I will watch Netflix all day.
Received our first measurable snowfall of the season. Not even an inch. But very pretty to wake to in the morning, and nice for some late Christmas shopping.
For Christmas, I got snowed in at my parent's house. Minot got 24 inches of snow from Wednesday until now. The plows will probably get to our neck of the woods by tomorrow, because the house is a few miles outside of town. At least they have Blu Ray.
Currently 2 degrees, -11 wind chill. We have about 6 inches of snow on the ground, but it's so cold it's pretty much solid. It squeaks when you walk on it.

I'm glad winter came to visit for Christmas and all, but it needs to go now.
22 degrees in NYC, with the wind chill making it feel like 9 degrees, and more snow on the way today.

Here's something nice and pathetic for you! Although I live in a perfectly average, one-bedroom apartment, and even though there's a bed in that bedroom, I've been camping out on my living room sofa the past few nights, because it's just a little warmer in the living room than in the bedroom (*coughcough!LOSERAPARTMENT!coughcough!*). I'll de-camp back to the bedroom when this weather goes up about ten more degrees, thank you very much.

And I am a thousand miles north in Grande Prairie, Alberta and I'll be goddamned if there isn't hardly any snow up here.

It is cold as fuck however, and I'm in the basement which makes it even worse. As I type this I'm wearing a hoodie, a long sleeve t-shirt, a long pair of pants and socks to go to bed. I'm longing for my fairly well climate controlled dorm.

Are you up there for college? If so, you got the hell outta Dodge. We have another 5-7 inches of snow coming tomorrow.
