This Adam Lambert Bullshit

Okay, maybe he went over the line, but the fallout is getting out of hand.

ABC Drops Adam Lambert ... Again!
The depressing thing is that nobody is talking about how horrible the song is in the first place.
Wait, what is all this? Who is he?
People only want to see gay kissing when it's Britney and Madonna.

This.

Has there been an interesting mainstream gay artist in the last decade? Rufus Wainwright, maybe?
And Brokencyde. And Fall Out Boy.
I wouldn't call him mainstream but yeah Rufus. Melissa Etheridge maybe? Nah. She was 90s.
Rufus Wainwright's gay? Huh. Whaddyaknow.
Scissor Sisters?

His performance of it at the AMAs was meh (which he cops to), but I like the song okay. Fever and Whattya Want from Me are pretty decent pop songs as well.

I should've stated an openly gay artist...plus I did say interesting. That should DQ both of those artists.
Adam does best when he's constrained by certain parameters (like on American Idol). When left to his own devices, he just goes way over the top. I'd still like to see him do an album of Guns-N-Roses covers. He'd kick all kinds of ass.

Mika and the Scissor Sisters.
Mika is apparently a bisexual. He's into fucking anything. Or so he said. He doesn't want to be labeled.
The lead singer of Bloc Party is as well, well judging from some interviews and some of the lyrics to their songs.

Que James Brown......."This is a man's world".....
Oh you wacky yanks and your knee jerk puritan double standards. It's just so quaint.

...and nice to see a bit of Rufus love - god damn I heart that guy.
Final Fantasy is gay, but I guess he's not very famous, unfortunately. Or fortunately? I dunno, some of his records are good.

Adam Lambert is a bizarre phenomenon because he has a stupid name, (imagine - David Robert Jones and the Spiders from Mars!) and some of the women I know see him as a kind of sex symbol and he's a homosexual. Fuck, I just can't win with women!

Yeah Pallett is great, he could be a great crossover artist if he got the airplay because his songs are utterly pop, but he'll never get the airplay due to how weird his style and lyrics are.

I've also heard that Beirut's Zach Condon is either gay or Bi
post #22 of 37
There's one word to describe this behavior by ABC:

Chickenshit

I must admit Lambert is pretty much on the money with the reasoning behind all of this.

I know Brian Molko of Placebo is bi.
I have to admit to knowing next to nothing about him or American idol, and I've seen only stills of his performance, but I am amused by the outrage and hope it continues. Double standards FTW!
This all could have been prevented if the same people that are complaining about him didn't keep voting for him to stay on American Idol.

Live, his two-piece band sounds reminiscent of John Cale's Paris 1919 album, another pop album which sounds ALMOST like it could be one of those rare hits that are a bit strange.

Didn't one of the guys from N*SYNC come out a while back? But you did say interesting, so....

Otep's a lesbian, but thats all I got.
This really is silly, and is distracting everyone from the best part of the performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uu3_Cwv6_LQ. Look how fast he recovers and goes right back into terrifying middle America!

I'll have to look into that album. Is he touring with someone else now? When I saw him a few years back it was just him and a projectionist and he was playing all the parts of the songs himself.
Rain Dog, are you hoping we'll all forget that Australia shits itself and outright bans anything with blood in it if you act smug enough? Because it probably won't work.

There's a drummer now. One of the better shows I saw this year, just had a shitty opening act.

Jesus Brad, what gay scene are you a part of exactly?

I think I have to disagree with you on that one. Lambert got booked for the gig, fully rehearsed a completely different act, and then sandbagged ABC on live television. You can do that stuff when you're the Stones, but not when you're this guy. He should have had better management that sat him down before and said, "If you do this, networks won't trust you on live television, and there's a good chance this could hurt you." Maybe Lambert and Dice Clay should get together and trade war stories.
Gotta agree with matches here. The outcry is ridiculous, to be sure. That Lambert pulled the switcheroo on ABC and then is surprised that networks are distancing themselves is naive at best.

Like it or not, pissing off the decision-makers that make your career and earning potential possible is not a recipe for success.
I also agree with matches. The other thing you have to consider with this guy is that, outside of outright denying it, he distanced himself from his sexual identity as far as he could on his AI run because he and his people feared coming across as "too gay." Then, when he pulls a ridiculously fucking dumb move like this in the hope of causing controversy, he has absolutely no problem playing the gay discrimination card. When you're a member of a minority and you only pay lip service to that minority's civil rights struggle to cover your ass when you do something stupid, no matter how blatantly homophobic the other party in the argument is, I think it's fair to say you're the least class person in the situation.
I dunno about that, some gay people are just gayer than other gay people. If I'm wrong about this, sure, call me out on it by all means, but I've definitely known some gay people who were not confused at all with being gay or not, but didn't seem very gay just because they didn't 'act gay' so much. I don't think it's my place as a straight male to decide when they should think it's appropriate to be sexual with each other, it doesn't concern me. Did Madonna run into much difficulty when she did her lesbian kiss? No. But yeah, both these artists make shitty music anyway.

What? There's video footage of him rehearsing this very act all over the web. Where'd you hear the switcheroo story from?

ABC. Sounds like ABC changed their story after the broadcast and saw middle America's reaction.
