I had actually never heard of this movie before. Officially in my Netflix queue, since I'm not near one of the screenings.

I've never seen this, so I seriously might have to check out that New Bev screening. Got to get into the holiday spirit somehow!

It's really a fun and utterly bizarre movie. It's played a lot more seriously than most of the other killer santa movies and is somewhat a condemnation of the commercialization of Christmas.... but then again, it's about some creep (who looks at kids through binoculars and marks down their every good or bad action in big NAUGHTY and NICE books) and what happens when he snaps.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this last year and it sort of turned out to be TAXI DRIVER 2: HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS. Pretty good little movie for sure.

I recommended this in Tati's christmas thread. Filmed in beautifully dreary Montclair, New Jersey, this one constantly gets lost in the shuffle of not only all the holiday themed slasher films but all the SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT films. If you can, you really should catch this on a real film screen.

(and, yes I'm annoyed that it's not playing around here. Man, not even Manhattan!?)

Yeah, I was hoping NYC would get it. Ah well.

Lewis Jackson left me a message asking me to change the box art to the one from the awesome Synapse disc from the "bootleg Troma dvd". So it's up! It's a much better disc than the old one, better transfer and extras and such. Definitely a yearly tradition in the Riviello household. You guys who haven't seen it definitely have to get on that.

I did a semi-review of that old disc back on CC about four years ago (holy crap!)... before I learned how to write, apparently.

As a commenter pointed out beneath the article, the movie's playing in Tucson the 21st for only two bucks (like every year). I think I'm finally going to check it out. Sounds like good fun.
And if it's playing in this small market town, it might be playing in cities other than three listed. I wonder what the word is on this. Do the prints travel around the country or something?
