When you take Sarah Palin's name and reverse the first letters of her given name and her surname, and then pronounce the result, you end up with an extreme sport



X-treme!


Oh, and the person who played Jack Valenti in 2002's PATH TO WAR really looked alot like the real guy! Why is that? He was played by his own son

Plus, I thought it would be fun to have a trivia thread in the politics forum, a place to discuss political facts outside of the context of the culture wars and hot button issues that seem to turn reasonable discussions into heated arguments

I'm not entirely sure why you guys respond to blatant bait threads like this and then complain about her antics. You're directly encouraging them by attending to and participating in them. It's almost like people like bitching about her at this point.

It's not a bait thread. I love politics. I'd love to turn to this thread each day and find new and interesting political facts I never knew.

It's the politics version of "Movie stuff you only just realized"

It's not a bait thread just because the first fact to be mentioned is my goofy para-sailing thing.

Here is one:

Robert Macnamara was once almost drowned whilst in the midst of a pleasure cruise by a murderous ex hippie. Years after Vietnam ended.

I knew that one already, but hopefully this interesting and little known fact will sate everyone appetite for more interesting political trivia than Parah Salin .......... Though, for the record, I think that's fantastic. I've told almost everyone I know, and frankly people agree with me that it's cool

The man later apologized, and they reconciled. They kept in touch for years. But yes, cool in that Macnamara was no saint*, it's a nice irony of history that even if he never went to jail or had to answer for the choices he made and the advice he gave, he got a good scare while eating a luxury dinner one night.

Like Bush with the shoe throwing.





* It could reasonably be argued he was largely responsible for millions of deaths, civilian deaths, across multiple wars. He himself admitted this later in life.
