More than doodles.

I was going to post this in Random Doodles, but it just doesn't seem like a random doodle now that I've coloured it.

So I figured I'd make a new thread whereas we could post pictures we've done in whatever medium that are more elaborate than doodles, be it a bit more or a lot more.

I wanna see all of your neat art.
SPREAD IT!

Self-portrait!

I'm liking em, nooj and tiger. Here's one of my self-portraits...

...

Why're you doing this to me?

Hahahahaa. Awesome Awesome Awesome.

Don't pick at it Abbott, or it'll never heal!

Great stuff all. The amount of talented artists on these boards always throws me off for some odd reason.
I posted this one when in the other thread when it was just a quick doodle but decided to finish it up. This is another one of my odd little self portraits.

Ah yes, I saw that one in the other thread. Very cool.
You've got quite the fine grasp on graphite.

Why, thank you. You should post some more of your stuff in here.

Some studies for a sculpture that I may get around to making one of these days.

"Distant Signals" or "what I do when I'm bored of drawing professional portraits"...

That one was a bit of a riff on a local artist.

Another doodle I had previously posted and decided to finish up. "Plague Girl"...

"Yin & Yang"...

And one more doodle I decided to finish up recently...

I do indeed plan on posting more, I just wanted to wait till the ball got rolling and other people started to post so I didn't just flood it with me right off the bat.

I did this one a little while back when I was still going to Vancouver Film School.
I was real into Cuttlefish at the time, what with the amazing camouflage they can do.

The yin yang is subtle and disturbing and the hand in the tub is damn creepy.
The only way I think "Yin & Yang" could be improved is if the man was blind in his left eye(gray like a cataract). Don't get me wrong, if I had the money I'd buy a print of that one ASAP. They're all great.

Show off.

I see what you are saying with the one eye thing, but it's his entire face which is being illuminated with a circular patch of light (there's meant to be a slight glow coming off of The Yang) that is meant to evoke the white dot on black of the Taijitu and not just the old man's eyes.

I've been really lazy lately. :|

Great stuff, Zweit. That first pic is just fantastic.
Beautiful stuff guys.

An old Spumco-inspired acrylic caricature of my buddy's dog. It's framed on their wall with an engraved dog-tag mounted at the bottom.

A terrible scan unfortunately.

One of many comic strips from a series I was developing:

A T-shirt graphic I designed for the Gatorade Replay game (my almamater and graduating class was one of the teams).

A sharpie on construction paper doodle I did while my daugher was decorating her pumpkin a Halloween or 2 back:

Damn, MITE. Great stuff, man.

I posted a new thread about this fun blog I stumbled upon, Monsters in real places.
I didn't post my submission in the other thread, but I figure I ought to post it here at least.
Wow. Wonderful work, people. I'm glad I found this thread.

DC Comics has an online comic competition that I'm getting several pages together to submit to. I entered the contest last year but came in 2nd palce. I'm giving it another go around so hopefully second times the charm (I have versions already digitally colored but I really prefer the black and white line art to the final version).

Let me know if the images are too big and I'll be sure to repost smaller versions.
Wow. Those are fantastic, man. Good luck with the contest.

Thanks man. I really scoured the internet trying to find some good cow mutilation pics, hoping someone might have a collection of old 70's photos from the "Mutilated Cow by Aliens" heydays. Surprisingly not alot out there!

So luckily I found a nice shot of a mutilated deer for reference and I just beefed it up.
Yeah tons of great stuff in here. I don't even want to post my shit. Hahaha.

Good luck with the contest, Gatorboy. Those panels are awesome.
I really want to read the rest of that comic.

I made this to use... somewhere.
I'll find some place for it.

Goddamn you guys are brilliantly talented. I humbly submit my WACOM-created James P. Sullivan:

@Gatorboy -

That's off the chain. I would pay real American dollars for that graphic novel.

haha, I will. That one was just a picture I had taken to test out my new camera at a friends house.
I felt it would be perfect for Monsters in Real Places

I will do some more, with different locations.

It's a Trip Parade.
Think more LSD, less Gay people.

The pride parade thing was a Venture Bros. reference.

I'm not sure if you meant to post anything or not there Far Out.

I dunno how the hell I'm going to color this. I'm already way over the amount of time I was supposed to spend on it. Don't tell anybody though. :I
post #43 of 51
Throw in a single layer of a fill (pink for instance), delete the BG, and turn down the opacity. Toss in a few white highlights on top in another layer. Think of Richard Corben's Den (Heavy Metal) stuff. You already have the values in there.
Thanks Mite.

Holy crap I gotta step it up if I'm going to finish these on time. One down. :|

Posted up some new art in my art album, commenting appreciated

@ Zweit -

That zombie is frikkin sweet. You should lodge a shuriken in his head for good measure. Looks like a samurai took a stab at him at some point (zing!).

Well, if it's any consolation, they look AWESOME.
Thanks DM and Zhukov. I finished the commission just in the nick of time last April but never got around to posting them here... The set's been in my sketchbook thread in my signature for a while but I'll link to them for everyone that doesn't want to wade through my crap.

Linky

I also did a modeling thing for the California Board of Heath(???), but it's just a crappy cartoon bear so I don't think I'll be showing it off to anybody. It's really dull.
You guys are great!

Tigeroovy, that holiday suicide is very funny.
mcnoog82, great expression on your portrait
Zweit, love your stuff, creepy and real powerhouse renderings and your cartoons are really cool too.
DARKMITES, what can I say, you are an expert illustrator. Walt Kelly would be jealous.
Gaterboy, wonderful ink work. I'm a sucker for black & white comics. good luck in the contest. DC doesn't know what they're missing.
JGButler, great piece. I dig that clean '60s look.
Zhukov, cool design.
Abbot & Prospero, for some reason I can't see your pics.

This is a silly little guy that I drew in Photoshop with that damn cool Cintiq tablet. That thing is slippery, like drawing on glass, but you get the hang of it. The eventual intention is to animate him one of these days. Right now I'm just filling my sketchbook trying to come up with gags.

Nothing to show as of yet, but am currently working on a sort of collage/mural tribute to Breaking Bad. I'm aiming to include all the characters (stylized of course) and all the great little moments (HOLA D.E.A.) in there.

Just spit-balling of course.
