Your Junk Food(s) of Choice

This time of year is that special time where we can get away with putting on weight. Eating all those oh-so-tasty things that are bad for us.

Not exclusive to this holiday season. But what are your junk-food habits of choice? Salty, sweet, etc. Doesn't matter. Always been a big chips & dips kinda guy personally.

If I ever had the opportunity, I would eat eat my weight in tater tots.

I'm assuming March 20 or 27, 2010 you'll get another chance.

Eating a holiday tin of caramel corn as I type.

Do cheeseburgers count? If so, then put me down for cheeseburgers x 100000000000.

Alternatively: nachos.

I also freak for Cadbury Eggs when they're released each Easter. I've been quite proud of myself lately, I only had 1 last year.

Nachos like a motherfucker. And Reeses Peanut Butter cups. Not at the same time.

Well...maybe at the same time.
Beef jerky. Ruffles potato chips, those 99 cent double cheeseburgers from McDonalds and their awesome fries. Count me in for nachos as well.

I'll be sure and tell that to my liver.

In all seriousness:
- Chewy granola bars. I can pound 'em all day long.
- Peanut brittle. My wife's uncle makes the best peanut brittle that you've ever had. We get a few bags of it every year for Christmas and just go nuts.

Pepperoni pizza. Extra cheese. The chains like Pizza Hut (Why not bring back the Big Foot, Goddammit?), Dominos, etc. are fine. But the Mom & Pop joints have always been my preference.

No, they most fucking certainly are not.

Along with tater tots, one of the best things ever. So damn expensive though.

Only apparently gourmet cheeseburgers.

When I come back from Canada into the States I'm going to have to find a way to bring ketchup chips with me. Wonderful.
Yeah, that's the only bad thing. At least when I go to big lots I can get a mostly full bag of beef jerky for $6 rather than a mostly air filled one.

The gas station/small grocery store about a half mile from my house makes an awesome pizza. They don't charge extra for toppings so I usually get about 4 toppings and it's only $9.99. I

They're good?

No no no no no...you need to get the All Dressed potato chips. Those are illegally good.

If we're talking strictly potato chips (no dip), my poison of choice is Cape Cod Jalapeno & Aged Cheddar.
I've been on a Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper potato chip binge here lately. Cape Cod makes the second best I've found so far.

They're working for me.

In terms of more readily available stuff: Cool Ranch Doritos. Not exactly a unique craving I know. A bag of those and a bag of pretzels are always in my dorm room.

That and I'll always take a chocolate shake when I can get one.
jakespeare...you NEED to try the All Dressed chips up there. The ketchup ones are indeed good, but the All Dressed ones will make you believe in God.
Can't mention chips without talking about cheesy puffs. Those are DELICIOUS.

Then the cheese makes me want to drink a Coca-Cola or RC soda.
I guess I eat way too much junk food, because I am having a lot of trouble narrowing it down. I think I have actually managed to burn myself out on almost every candy bar in existence.

Lately I have been eating a ton of sunflower seeds and/or coffee flavored candies (called, uh, Nips) though.

My wife was thrilled recently when she found an old family recipe she called trash. I had no idea it was something widespread throughout the South.

Taco Bell's beef and potato burrito is king. You got tater tots IN your burrito. It's a good match.

I live (and die) off the Cheesy Gordita Crunch at Taco Bell.

I'm gonna make this easy and list the three junk foods I don't like:
Pork Rinds
Salt and Vinegar flavored chips
Guacamole

All else is fair game, though, due to the type II diabetes cause be eating all of this crap, I do avoid sugary snacks (cookies, brownies, cake, etc) now.

Thanks for the suggestion Judas, I'll make sure and grab a bag for New Year's.

I love them... in very small ammounts, and usually with a sammich. They're great, but you cannot eat more than a tiny 1 oz bag before it's too much. I like to put them in a sammich before I eat it (depending on the kind of sammich)

Salt and Vinegar chips are the Captain Crunch of salty snacks. Delicious, but it shreds the mouth.

Hm, I am not sure I've ever had that happen at least any more with S+V chips than other chips. I think it has to do more with the thickness of the chip, and how they were prepared (kettle cooked or not), than teh flavor (Regarding mouth damage)

I love salt & vinegar. They also happen to be my hangover remedy of choice, along with a bacon sandwich and a can of Barr's Irn Bru.

As far as junk food goes: Chili cheese dogs or pepperoni pizza with extra cheese and jalapenos.

If I'm drunk: Doner kebab in pita bread slathered in chili sauce.

My acid reflux does not appreciate it, but I sure do.

Pizza or pizza rolls with ranch dressing.

Animal style burger and fries at In-N-Out.

Funyuns, doritos, chex mix (especially the salty corn chex part)....

Chocolate. Reese's peanut butter cups.

Zingers, twinkies, hostess cupcakes.

Popsicles. Ice cream - Blue Bell preferred.

Baklava, chocolate tartes, cheesecake, fruit tarts, chocolate croissants, pie.

Pims cookies (chocolate over fruit jam on a soft cookie/biscuit).

Boerwoers. Fish n chips. Tacos and taco salad. Nachos (chips, velveeta, rotel). Beer battered onion rings.

..... and this is why I'm overweight.

Alright so evidentally I've been looking in the wrong places. I will no longer mock the Salt and Vinegar.

Forgot one until Kate posted it in her lovely "Snacks of the World" photo essay up there: mozza sticks. These were the cheapest appetizer when I worked at Ground Round in high school so they were the thing I most often snacked on while waiting for a ride. Can't believe I nearly forgot them.

I'm so glad I reminded you about them! They're great! I love to reheat them till they are half exploded in my oven, lol.

Also glad you liked my photo essay, as you put it. I'll include more snacks as I think of them (though some of the photos I included are of foods that will constitute an entire meal for me, some nights -- crab cakes, for example)

No fair! You're pregnant, you can use the "food cravings" excuse for nine months, long after the holidays are over for the rest of us fat schlubs.

That, and you're pregnant.

As for me, my favorite holiday/party snack are nacho chips and guacamole. I mean, I have a bunch of junk foods I love, but I manage to stay away from them. But since it's the holidays, if I'm at a party and the nachos and guac make an appearance, I'm there.

Mesquite bbq chips are the best, IMO

PS You might want to try thai or asian flavored chips, they're great.
I'm with Rene - cheesy poofs, especially Cheetos, are God's little hair tussle to His creation. Love 'em!

Also loves me some potato chips (Frito-Lay did an experiment with the snack machines where I used to work a few years back: Cheez Doodle flavored Ruffles. Mother of all creatures great and small, were those GOOD!), as well as cherry flavored Pop Tarts, the occasional Hershey bar, Devil Dogs (manna! Oh, my father!), and Twinkies. Speaking of which, what the HELL ever happened to Chocodiles? Twinkies with chocolate frosting? They had them when I was a kid, and I fucking WANT THEM NOW!!! A box of Chocodiles and a half gallon of milk to wash 'em down and I'm more than good.

Oh, and my wife's chocolate chip cookies. Each cookie is a chewy, chocolatey, angel-blessed slice of HEA-VEN. She made a honkin' huge batch of cookies this year for the holidays and I'm ready to marry her all over again because of it. Love that woman.

Hi I'm The Rain Dog and I'm a chocaholic.

I love Reeses cups and I'm a firm believer that the holiday shaped reeses taste better. I think it's the ratio of chocolate to peanut butter. Am I crazy?
