I suffer with something called Gastric Reflux, which is basically your stomach acid travelling all the way up to you'd chest area and giving you all the symptoms of a heart attack.

For my birthday the wife booked us into a 5 star hotel and took me too see Avatar at the IMAX last night. I got about a minute in and had the single worst attack of Gastric Reflux I have ever experienced. So, not only do I still not know if it's any good I have felt like crap for most of my birthday.

Something tells me, that seeing this film was not to be.

Feel better, Ken, and Happy Birthday!

And don't feel bad - I spent the last 10 minutes of Blair Witch Project with my head hanging over the toilet in the theater ladies' room. Thanks, Shakey The Cameraman.

Hope you feel better, Ken.

First theater I went to couldn't work the projector, so I feel your Avatar pain. Except the acid reflux.

If you're able, get a prescription for Nexium. It's magical.

If you're on Nexium and still have bad symptoms, my condolences.

You'll probably enjoy the film on a small (TV) screen.

When I was a kid, during Star Trek: The Motion Picture, I went to the rest room and threw up some blood. I went back to the movie, and didn't tell my mom until it was over. Turns out I was allergic to aspirin.

I was a poor kid, and only got to see a movie a handful of times a year. The only way I was leaving that theater was during the credits, or on a stretcher.

Thanks for the kind words,

feeling better today but I think I'll lay off the sauce for New Years eve.

I'm on something called Omeprazole which I need to take once a day and because the hotel/Imax was a suprise I hadn't packed any. It didn't occor to me that it might have been the film that set it off, I just thought It was all the rich food from Christmas.

I'm just very glad I have a loving wife who is very good to me at times like this.

I was on omeprazole, but it became insufficient to manage my GERD and I developed a nice case of esophagitis and gastritis. My gastroenterologist said he sees many patients who outgrow omeprazole, but that as long as it's effective the patient should continue using it. But if it stops working, really try to get Nexium.
