A Question about Product Warranties

So my 120 GB Zune has decided to shit the bed. I looked it up online and the problem is listed on Microsoft's service center so I arranged to have a mailing label sent so they can fix it. Thing is though, I bought the Best Buy Product Service/Replacement Plan when I bought this device. Is using the Microsoft warranty and having the product serviced going to in any way interfere with that? I wouldn't think so since they're sending me the same device back, but I just want to be certain.

Some of Best Buy Canada's policies are different then the U.S. stores so I could be wrong.... but if the product is in it's first year of the PSP (performance service plan) then you deal with the manufacturer directly. For what your describing at least; there are other things the PSP offers/includes that the manufactures warranty doesn't cover. After the one year manufactures warranty is up then you deal with Best Buy.

Did you get a PSP or PRP brochure with the purchase? If you didn't, I'd say go back to the store and get one and just read it over. Most people tend to think that if it breaks we'll just replace it if they bought a PSP or PRP plan. Which isn't the case.

There is also differences between the Performance Service Plan (PSP) and the Product Replacement Plan (PRP) as to what is covered and what isn't. Which is why you should find out which one you got. But all in all, no, I don't believe the Best Buy PSP/PRP would be voided. You can always call the nearest store to you and explain the situation and just ask to clarify everything.
