This year, I resolve to watch more foriegn films and documentaries, two of the areas of my cinematic knowledge that are woefully lacking, and have been woefully lacking for a long time.
I also resolve to go to the movies more often than I did in 2009, just like I resolved to go to the movies more often than in 2008. 2009 was kind of a bust for me, theater-going wise, and I hated that.
This year, I resolve to read the major works of Greil Marcus, including Lipstick Traces. Note: I said read, not understand.
Going along with that, I resolve to give Animal Collective a serious shot -- I've liked what I've heard when they've been played on car trips and been linked to, but I haven't heard an album in its entirety. With that, I promise to pay attention when Pitchfork says something is good, but also continue to make up my own mind.
Finally, this year, I resolve to read The Power of the Dog. That one's for you, Cameron.
