I thought it was kinda charming in a "Let's-riff-on-Buffy" way. I think was the first Abnett and Lanning that I'd read. Not Nextwave, but apart from the Romance-novel covers, not terrible.

The characters they fight in that segment of the story are all parodies taken directly from Not Brand Echh. Charlie America, Incredible Bulk, Forbush Man, etcetera. The following issue, where they each go through Forbush Man's alternate realities, was amazing and showed just how incredibly versatile an artist Stuart Immonen is.

Well it's cheating, as it isn't a single panel.

Christ that Doom panel makes no damn sense. The real Doctor Doom would be thinking, "Excellent! While they waste time mourning the deaths of those insects, now is the perfect time to strike! RICHARDS!!!!"

Also there's the lack of panache, dr Doom knows the only way to get rid of a building is launching it into space..and then making Ms marvel develop an eating disorder:

I couldn't figure out Brad's avatar for the longest time, so now that all has been revealed, here is a clearer version of your avatar that's still compliant with the dimension/file size limits:

Thanks, but I'll stick with Arishem Classicâ„¢.

That one also has shiny white celestial teeth.
Boooo. I guess having the fuzzier, less-clear version of that character, it's like you're making him more... mysterious...
Also, what the fuck is all over his thumb?? EDIT: would those happen to be the runes that contain the recipe for the destruction of a world?
Celestial... stuff.
I've always wanted coffee mugs shaped like the Celestials' heads.

Ha, that avatar used to stump me as well, mystery solved.

This is page is from an old issue of Commando, I picked up a bunch of 'em at a car boot stall. Always loved the cheery approach to the War in them... particular here.

It's such a typical Straczynski move, dude is so enamoured of making great humanist statements and so fucking bad at incorporating them into his narratives.

From the tragic issue where Cap loses his shield.
I challenge you not to cry your eyes out.

Alien Grinchs from a TNG Christmas comic:

What I love about Arishem is how obviously Kirby modeled him on a coffee mug. Like, he needed inspiration for a supreme cosmic being and he just started glancing around his studio for inspiration.

And it still came out looking awesome.

Probably the most underrated Kirby creation ever:
MIKE MCCRACKEN!

He hits on Barda, speaks in the third person, and is never seen again!
