A Peek Into Netflix Queues

Cool interactive map from NY Times

This is simultaneously cool and scary. Get out of my queue Big Brother!!!

Top 10 flick in my zip code. Overall, not bad!

1. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
2. Slumdog Millionaire
3. Milk
4. Doubt
5. Twilight
6. Burn After Reading
7. Rachel Getting Married
8. The Wrestler
9. The Changeling
10. The Dark Knight

I can't remember the zip code, but the first place my cursor landed on had Paul Blart: Mall Cop at #2. *shudder*

This must be how they feed that "popular in your city" feature. I apparently don't belong in my city.

This is pretty cool. But it kinda gets boring after awhile when you know it's basically all 2008 movies.

It's funny to see the schematics of something like Paul Blart, where the populous city is clear, while the surrounding suburbs are a complete rash in comparison.

For my zip code in Irving, Texas.

1. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
2. Seven Pounds
3. Twilight
4. Slumdog Millionaire
5. Knowing
6. Doubt
7. Valkyrie
8. Changeling
9. Paul Blart: Mall Cop
10. Eagle Eye

I think it's kind of interesting how strongly dramas like Seven Pounds, Doubt, Milk, and Changeling do on home video lists as compared to how they do in the theaters. That's an interesting commentary on the demographics.

Wow. Tyler Perry movies are really popular in south Atlanta.

So the SF Bay Area extends no further south than Palo Alto? Yeah, right.

And Benjamin Button? Well, maybe there were always enough copies to go around, so noboy had a Very Long Wait.

BENJAMIN BUTTON appears to be number one in a lot of areas. I wonder why?

I am so glad I don't work in a cubicle farm. My guffaw from that right there would have gotten me fired.

I was wondering the same about Knowing. It seems to be very popular everywhere.

I had an AWESOME idea earlier today. I'd like people to hear me out and give my idea a fair shake

Do you ever look at a lightly scratched DVD you've received from NETFLIX, and wonder where in the world it was before you got it? I often will take out an obscure film and wonder where in the nation it's traveled and who had it before me.

What if you could opt in to take part in a WHERE'S GEORGE* type program for NETFLIX disks? You could see where your copy of SUCKA PUNCH* had been before you got it. For privacy reasons, the only previous locations (you could opt for the system to either just display your location or maybe your user name too if you wanted, so people could get in touch with you if they had a comment) from a member who'd opted in would be visible.

Thoughts? I think it would be fun and spur conversation

*that track the dollar bill thingy
*The movie I was watching when I got the idea

For my location:

1.The Three Musketeers: The Queen's Diamonds
2.Much Ado About Nothing
3.Julie & Julia
4.Doc Martin: Series 4
5.A Single Man
6.State of Play
7.Changeling
8.2012
9.The Road
10.Creation

And I thought it was interesting to note that THE WIRE made the 11 spot

11.The Wire: Season 3
