Project Runway - Season 7

It starts tonight. From what I understand, they're back in New York and loaded up with a ton of new sponsors to shove in our faces.

Anyone heard anything about this season?

As a side note: my wife met Christopher Straub from season 6 at a Christmas Bazaar. She bought a shirt from him to keep him from crying.

In truth, she said that he was a really nice guy to meet, and he had a large crowd of women around him asking him questions about the show. My wife DID buy a shirt from him, and she got him to autograph it as well.

Regarding Season 7: I'm not impressed with any of the designers so far. Everything looked really meh last night. Christiane's outfit was NOT the worst outfit of the night; she didn't deserve to go home.

Gotcha. I thought you were referring to Christian ("fierce") and my mind couldn't put two and two together as he was so composed. I know who you are talking about now.

As for last night's ep, Christiane's outfit was executed the worst (the hem & draping were terrible) and she failed the challenge. The assignment was "show us who you are as a designer" and the judges flat out said they didn't know what she was going for and had no idea who her client was.

I thought the challenge winner and the punk rock guy were the stand outs, though it is not clear whether they'll have much variety. i see them making the same outfits over and over. Anthony(?), the guy from Georgia, is my favorite personality. I hope he and Ping stick around awhile.

yeah, her execution was definitely lacking (the hem WAS inexcusable), but I honestly didn't think that it was the worst outfit of the evening.

And I agree, the winner and the other guy (Seth?) are probably the two main contenders. I don't see Anthony or Ping lasting for more than a few more episodes.

Ping's was terrible.

There are too many people at this point to know who anybody is. But I'm glad the guy who won, won.

Keith Richards Jr. gives me the fucking creeps.

Ping's looked like a 5th grade project.

To be fair, there is a market for Ping's clothes. As Nicole Richie said, she'd wear it (and as an avid Gossipolgist, she [i]has/i[] worn similar stuff in the past). The Olsen twins started the whole Hobo chic look several years ago and Ping's look sort of embodies it. And you couldn't take your eyes off of it. Whether you liked it or not, she had a point of view that came across quite clearly. I think the chick who started over with two hours left in the evening should have been bottom two, but that ugly snakeskin evening gown was truly awful.

Loved, loved, loved Amy's dressed, though Jay's was also pretty amazing. I didn't feel Mila's dress, but can understand how others could. Why is Jay still around? He sucks. I still like Ping. She's interesting to watch and I do want to see what she'll do next. I called it - Emilio and Seth are going to make the same outfit week after week. So boring.

Jay or Ping should have gone home last night. Jay missed the point of the challenge AND delivered a truly ugly looking dress (again), and Ping's dress was a poorly constructed mess that did nothing but show off her model's ass. She's interesting to watch, but she's also a trainwreck.

The top 3 dresses were all pretty outstanding. Actually, almost everyone really delivered in this challenge.

I'm with Diva, Amy had the best dress. That was simply outstanding, Agreed that the top three were all solid, but Amy's almost took my breath away.

Ping sucks, I'm sorry. She got saved because they like her from last week only. Jay sucks too and should have been gone, but they were right about the woman who lost. Totally unfaltering. Yikes.

Ping is being kept around for entertainment value only. The judges want to see what kind of mutant garment she's going to come up with (Heidi even said something to this effect), so she may linger while other (more talented) designers get the boot.

Nobody is really standing out this season...so far. We don't have an IRINA or a CHRISTIAN yet who is clearly more talented than everyone else.

Alright, I jumped aboard the anti-Ping sentiment. I think she has some interesting ideas, but she is an unseasoned designer and so can't articulate her ideas nor execute them. I really felt bad for Jesse. So long Ping. Keep rockin' those footies.

I liked that despite fighting Anthony the whole way, Seth stood behind him and didn't throw him under the bus. Seth's a stand up guy.

Mila, Mila, Mila. She has great ideas and execution, but it takes her forever to do anything. I can't imagine she lasts that long if she doesn't learn how to design under pressure. And while I liked the creativity of the coat, I found it really ugly. I can't imagine wearing that.

Missed last night's episode (recorded it, though).

Ping's outta here? Who won, then?

Ping was booted for doing yet another drapery thing. Mila (?) won. I didn't like that jacket at all either, diva. All I could picture was a 65 year old rich harpy wearing it while being condescending to everyone lol

Anyone still watching this?

I missed (but DVR'd) almost all of this season, but I did catch last week's episode where they revealed who would be going to fashion week. Is it worth it to go back and watch the episodes that I've missed?

Still watching. Nothing worth going back for, unless you want confirmation that this is Earl or Seth Aaron's to lose. I think Earl has more wins, so he's the front runner.

There was a little bit of drama with Maya and her departure, but other than that no major standout eps.

Yeah, it definitely seems like a two horse race.

OK, thanks. I won't bother watching any of the backlog.
