Coachella Music Festival 2010

Line-up announced!

Still couldn't pay me to go to this thing, but this line-up's kind of a bummer.

I'd probably only go for Faith No More, honestly, but even then they'll probably end up in my neck of the woods in a venue where I don't have to haggle with some goddamn desert rat trading matches and toilet paper for a bottle of water and a nickel sack. I'll just play Fallout 3 instead, same diff.

Yeah, sorry, kinda got carried away with the "bummer" thing. It's a solid lineup it's just Coachella that sucks.

Impressive line-up. In addition to those already highlighted, I'd fancy checking out The Cribs, The Temper Trap, Sunny Day Real Estate, Yo La Tengo, and MUTEMATH.

No Faith No More love, Martin?
Yeah, but not as much as I did before.

Damn you Coachella, you always get the best lineups!!! I can only hope that Lollapalooza gets some of these bands, but there's no way they would let Gorillaz headline. Maybe Faith No More, which would be amazing, but we'll probably get some shit like Fall Out Boy or Limp Bizkit.

I'd actually love to see Deftones too, but Lollaplooza seems to pick the most mainstream obscure acts, almost no heavy rock, or bands that were big in the 80's/90's for headliners. I mean Jane's Addiction closed out last year... c'mon!!

It just occured to me that John Waters will be there. Not Roger Waters, but the filmmaker.

So, WTF?
That Saturday line-up is tempting.

But I went to Coachella in 2004. I just don't get how people do it (and now for 3 days). The great times I had were paltry compared to the crushing mass and insane heat. Let's not get started on the port-a-potties.

And yeah, John Waters, what?

If I were still 22, I'd be chomping at the bit to go. I'm not. I'm a 36 year old father of two who can barely be bothered to even leave the house.

If FNM, Pavement, or Yorke come near Austin in a proper venue, I'll go, but fuck going all the way out there and camping in the dust. Especially since everything I want to see will end up on YouTube 10 minutes later anyway.

Who wouldn't want John Waters to regale them with his droll wit?*

I heard rumors that Daft Punk was going to tour this year; I'm assuming that them NOT being on the list means that ain't happening. Nuts.

I was sorta contemplating going to this. Seeing as I'm not from Cali, I'm wondering why Coachella sucks?
It's a requirement that the weekend Coachella is held. It has to be hot as shit.

You're in the desert surrounded by annoying people.

Occasionally, a really good band plays.
I think I can handle the heat. It's usually hot as balls during Lolla weekend. But if you're stuck at the festival with no where else to go, and water costs $5, then that's just supreme bullshit on principle. With Lolla, it's downtown so there's plenty to do afterwards, and you can bring in water. Although, I imagine if you're camping at Coachella, the grounds can be pretty wild at night. That said, its the people that make it. The people at Lolla tend to be pretty cool, for being hipsters. Don't know if my tolerance for douchebags gets any higher than that.
That's a really good way of putting it. Lolla, you're in Chicago. Coachella you're in the Indio polo grounds of bumfuck county, California.

Watched 'The Dead Weather' on the live stream last night. Definitely need to see them because they were amazing (vicariously).

'Faith No More' was a letdown. Hoping they stream 'Thom Yorke ????' tonight.

The Iceland volcano is apparently playing all kinds of hell with bands getting to this.

Just for starters, no Gary Numan!

My daughter and her friends got stuck in traffic Friday (duh!), and were really bummed that they missed She & Him, but I got a concert call during Vampire Weekend, which was nice.
They can just Skype their performances.
I hope they show Gorillaz, Thom York, and De La Soul on the webcast tonight.
They have 3 cameras so chances are good for all of those. Kinda pissed I didn't even remember until late last night. Missed 'Passion Pit' and 'Dirty Projectors'.

John Waters on how to properly make a snowman (Post #9). http://www.coachella.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40808

Wish I'd seen this thread earlier. Thanks to the tip about the live streams I was just able to see De La Soul cover Run DMC!

I prefer the Coachella feed (and that's just because of quality), but YouTube has a ton of shit up for most any band you want to check out.
