Is CHUD.com suddenly hostile to iPhones?

Because for the last couple of days, I can't load anything other than the main page, and have been getting this error message:
"Bad Request. Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Size of request header field exceeds server limit."

Rebooting doesn't help, and no other website is giving me this problem.
Well it's certainly not anything we've ACTIVELY done, but I just checked it on mine and was able to load the main page, the Red Riding Article and the Forums, all on Edge at that. May be just a random fluke?

I just checked from my iPod touch, FYI.

Site is fine.
Yeah works with mine, but hopefully something more streamlined would be in the works?

There's an iphone app and redesign coming.

CHUD app= awesomeness.

I don't get the point of mobile versions of web pages. On an Ipod touch, or presumably an Iphone, the text is very clear anyway, and you can scroll and zoom with ease.

As long as you know the layout of the page before hand, you should be able to easily go wherever you want without much difficulty

I check out the site all the time on my iPhone and it's just A OK! The only downside is posting on the forums..takes forever to type..

...
I agree about the typing though, it's why I don't post much from my iPod. Unless I go back over what I've written with a fine tooth comb, for the most part it comes out unintelligible

Yes, to post here one must be up on correct grammar and spelling. I'm terrible at both.

Hmmm... must be me then. And I was pretty sure all my requests were of the "Awesome" variety.

Out of curiousity, for those not experiencing this problem, what generation iPhone do you have?

I have a first generation, and I'm wondering if this is my iPhone's version a Logan's Run red blinking palmlight.

I have the 3GS

Yeah I'm still using my 8gig First Gen, too.

I end up spell checking 90% of the posts I type. I was part of a generation in Massachusetts where they tried to teach us spelling without teaching us phonics.

They are teaching phonics again to the kids, but I'm left with crippled spelling for life.

Many common every day words I only know how to spell through shere repitition

Well, that makes me feel a little better. Maybe I'll try a synch tonight and see if that helps.

Thanks everyone.

Well, synching didn't work, and neither does rebooting. It's the strangest damn thing: I can load the main page, but then if I try to access an article, the forums, or any other on-site link, I get the error message indicated in the OP.

I'm open to suggestions if anyone has any.

It's a shot in the dark and may prove to be too much of a pain in the ass just to be a random suggestion, but you could try backing up your phone and restoring from backup. Doesn't that wipe and reinstall firmware and native apps as well?

That's a good idea. I'm pretty sure that whatever is on my iPhone the last time I backed it up can be restored (feel free to correct me, anyone). I'll give it a shot. And I hope Nick appreciates just how fucking important it is to me that I have access to CHUD wherever I go.

Thanks, yo.

Nick refused Steve Jobs his liver so revenge is best served by website screw over.

If you're still having issues though, restore from a back up. If it still acts up, take it to an apple store.

Can't wait to see what CHUD has in store.

Hmm- I can load the main page and the articles on my 3Gs, but I am getting the same bad request any time I try and click on the forums. Its only been like that for the past 2-3 days, before that, no issues ever.

First please fix ur profile settings. It's screwing up the formatting.

Second, a chud app would be a great idea because it would allow quick access to the information. The presentation might also be formatted for easier reading and less chance of the phone crashing when there is a lot of stuff on the page. There are tons of things the app could do, but I'll leave that to the powers that be. They hopefully know best.

Now I can't even load the main site on my iphone. I've reset my phone and that didn't help. I don't have trouble with other sites. Anyone have a suggestion?

I've had exactly the same problem for a week now. Main page is all I get. What's going on?
That's strange, I'm on my iPhone typing this and eveything is loading up fine.

Maybe it's AT&T's reception or service in your area? When I have a shitty wireless connection, the main page will load but articles and the forums will either take forever or give me an error message.
Princess Kate's location in her profile settings was messing with the way my iPhone was reading the forums, but she kindly changed it when I asked and it reads fine now.

As of last night I was able to access pages via a direct link from the Chud twitter, but had no luck loading the site itself. Today it seems to be working fine loading from the main page. A very bizarre week attempting to load chud from the iphone.

I have the same problem even with wifi, and it's not an issue I have with any other website.

Rebooting and restoring from back-up settings didn't work. I suppose I could contact Apple customer service, but the effort I'm putting into solving the problem is starting to outpace my interest in doing so. I have a buddy who's a Mac IT guy, and I'll ask him about it next time I talk to him.

Are the other people who have this problem getting that same error message I indicated in the OP? Because I'm not even sure what it means.

And here's another odd thing I've noticed: It's not that it only allows me to load the main page, but rather just one page anywhere from the site. For instance, I'll load the main page just fine, and then when I try a link to an article, I get the error message. Then at some point later, I'll try again, only now the URL from the article page is still in my browser bar, and I'll be able to load it. But if I try to navigate away from that page, even back to the main page, I get the error message.

Weird shit, huh?
