Hostel Blu-ray problem

Hey eveyone I have a slight problem. I bought the Hostel blu-ray over the net. When I pulled it out it had a different cover than the one pictured and it only had the movie and PCM sound. In the reviews I read it was supposed to have features and DolbyTrueHD sound. I did some looking around the internet and it seems like this edition doesn't exist in any country. It sounds similar to the UK edition of the film but the box makes no reference to to that. It has the Unrated and the standard Canada 18 on it. I checked the box and it didn't seem like a bootleg and I know it wasn't an import so what gives?

Sounds like the version you bought doesn't have DolbyTrueHD or the features you noticed in the online reviews.

Thanks.......but seruously my issue is that this version doesn't seem to exist. Just curious if anyone else has it as well or if I got some weird authentic looking blu-ray.

I just purchased this same copy of Hostel tonight at Sam Goody for $9.99. I figured it was just an out of print version or something but I can't find anything online for it either. On the cover it says that it's "Sick and Twisted UNRATED", and it is indeed the barebones release with the PCM audio. I haven't opened it yet.

The Sam Goody/Suncoast chain still exists? I thought they were all gone.

Yeah if it has the same transfer im ok with it. I don't care about special features. However I can't exactly compare the 2 versions.

So my fiance and I watched that Hostel BD last night and we had absolutely no problems with it. The audio was fine, and the transfer I thought was pretty good. It's an Mpeg-2 transfer I think instead of Mpeg-4. You can definitely see a lot of grain in the flick, and even some speckles of white here and there at times, but honestly, I kind of liked the grain in there. I remember watching Hostel in the theater and seeing a lot of grain in it anyway, that's the way that Eli intended to make it, so it looked sort of like an old school flick. I havent seen the Director's Cut Blu Ray, but I think the transfer might be a little more cleaned up on it, although I can't confirm. Like I said though, I was more then happy with the copy that I got, especially considering it was like 15 dollars cheaper then the Director's Cut.

No it is an MPEG-4 transfer, I checked on my PS3. And technically this is the director's cut. All the extra gore or nudity or whatever was added back in. The Director's cut had a different ending thats all. Where instead of killing the guy he takes his daughter away. The other ending sucked because no bloody payoff and I cna't buy that characer killing a kid. So yeah I think im sticking with it to. Good transfer and high def audio.
