Archer - FX

So, who else is watching this? The first episode takes awhile to start rolling, but on tonight's, the third ep, it's already damn good.

It's obviously the animation of the Frisky Dingo guys and a lot of that same kinda a humor. Judy Greer is, as always, goddamn awesome and the rest of the voice cast pulls their weight quite ably.

And now is the time for line quoting.

Homeboy McJewerson.

"Yep, he just came up to me and...*dwip*"

And from last week's -
"Just the tip?"
"Just the tip."
"JUST THE TIP!"
"Just the tip."

HEAD *AND* SHAFT... oh, you mean where in the building?

mediumdave, An animated spy/office life series with...ARCH humor, I am so there. Hilarious show, and I loved the ending of ep 3 with the not usual...Off Hand finale.
It's so nice to have Sealab back on TV!

I even think Homeboy McJewerson sounded strikingly like Dr. Quinn... either that, or I'm just racist...

Man, I miss when they'd actually animate animated series.
I'm glad to see that Adam Reed was able to keep the same sensibilities outside of adultswim.
Hysterical. I had high hopes after the fall previews for this (that seemed to run weekly with Sons of Anarchy), and I thoroughly enjoyed the three episodes so far, with the newest being the best.
This is hysterical. H. Jon Benjamin's voice work is downright inspired.
H. Jon Benjamin's voice is like a choir of angels.
I just love the tone of clueless indignation he's able to pull off. It's just perfect.
I started watching this with the Homeboy McJewerson episode and haven't missed it since (and have finally started recording the episodes I'd missed). The "Just the tip" gag killed me, especially with the lunch payoff and whether Archer would be paying for his.
I watched an episode off of TWC's FX on demand just this weekend. HILARIOUS! I've got to watch more.
Does anybody else think Frisky Dingo went waaayyyy downhill in the 2nd season? It was like they didn't even want to make the show anymore, and started killing off characters just to get it over with. Some parts in the first few episodes with the Department of Labor guy (forget his name) were great, though.

I think I'll wait a little while to start watching this so I can at least do a 6 episode chunk at once.
Best news is that a 13 episode Season 2 has been ordered for 2011.

Actually, I totally disagree! I thought the beginning of the season sucked, but it got AWESOME right around the time that they crossed the halfway point. The Haggar Pants/Debate episode might be my favorite of the series.

So far, Archer is good, but it's no Dingo.

How many episodes is the first season? They've shown 6 and then gone to repeats.
I think they've shown 7, with a new one appearing this Thursday. But don't quote me.

Edit: Or don't believe me. You already quoted me. Accurately.
First season is 10 episodes, I believe.

This series has yet to do anything memorable in the seven episodes that have aired thus far.
Really? Really?

"Just the tip?"

"Now we have a dead hooker"
"Call girl!"
"When they're dead, they're called hookers."
"Fetching a rug, sir!"

"Imagine mommy dearest's cold corpse -"
"Ohmigod! He has an erection!"

And no matter how hard I try, I can't imagine I'll ever forget the image of two people nearing climax as the man asphyxiates the girl... and another overweight girl watches while sitting on the crapper.

Wait, I thought you said you watched their other shows? No one's getting wise and no one's learning anything about themselves.

I hope they're made of a soft leather.

That entire "ridged airship" episode was awesome, the runnig Helium gag, and the autoerotic asphyxiation. Love this show.
Love the show, this is what shows on Adult Swim USED to be.
Yeah, I'm going to eat the shoes.

I've seen the six/seven aired, but I only had the two episodes on hand for immediate viewing. I'll rewatch the series again after Season 1 is over, but I'm not digging it.
Yea I don't really like the show too much either.

"I mean...she's like the Pele of anal."

Awesome.
"I need to take a shower... I REEK of her."

"Hey... I'm fanning it your way."

With the Ventures on hiatus, this has become my go-to show for when I have friends over late at night. It's always good for a bunch of sophomoric laughs.
Marathoning this right now. H Jon Benjamin is always pure awesome, and any show with Jessica Walter, Judy Greer and Jeffrey Tambor gets me hard.
season finale was a bit of a let down.. oh well.
FINALLY finished watching all 8 shows I had DVR'd. Man, some stuff just kills me, and for the dumbest reasons. I was also watching them up to 1 AM, so maybe the later it got, the funnier it seemed. Biggest/longest laugh from me? I think it was the 2nd to last episode where ISIS is trying to get the security contract, and when the "prince" comes on the screen, and Malory calls the guy "Captain..." and Archer says, "...Crunch! No wait....Beefheart!" Don't know exactly why, but that had me giggling for a solid hour.

Also loved the blimp, uh, I mean, rigid airship episode.
Started to watch this. It's great.
The scripts are very raunchy and the delivery is glorious.

This is probably the show's greatest strength.
It should be noted that all the episodes are available in HD on Netflix Instant Watch. Now if only they could do the same for SUNNY.
Didn't know where to put this, so I guess here will do.

Comedy Central has ordered 10 episodes of the new series "Jon Benjamin Has a Van."

The sketch comedy series will begin production this fall and will premiere in the summer of 2011 on Comedy Central. It stars Jon Benjamin and, we presume, a van.

In actuality, the series is produced by Benjamin, Andrew Steele and Funny or Die and features Benjamin as an intrepid reporter who hits the streets -- in his custom van -- and does undercover, man-on-the-street and human interest journalist or, rather, "journalist."

"Jon Benjamin has always been a very good driver. Outfitting him with a brand new van, with automatic transmission and filled with video recording equipment, will really allow his creativity to flourish," states Kent Alterman, Comedy Central's head of original programming and production.

Adds Benjamin, "Not since de Tocqueville has there been a more insightful look into the fabric of America and the people who live in it and I'm not just saying that because I read that book and you didn't. Anyway, if you hate everything French, there's a shot you will love this show."

And because it would be a shame to leave out any of the quotes from a Comedy Central press release, the collective Funny or Die entity adds, "We see this opportunity as one more step in our long march to take over the entertainment industry."

Benjamin is a newly minted Emmy nominee for his vocal work on FX's "Archer." A long-time Comedy Central veteran, Benjamin co-created "Freak Show" with David Cross and served as a writer and co-producer on "Important Things with Demetri Martin."

Bumped because A) Season 1 hits DVD today and B) Season 2 starts January 27th.

Also, there are commercials.

That makes me SO happy.

"Secret agents don't tell every harlot from here to Hanoi that they are secret agents!"

"Then why be one?"

Time to go order a DVD...
I plan on catching the entire run on TV this time, I'm ridiculiously excited.

"Llana, call Kenny Loggins, cause you're in the danger zone! From Top Gun!?"
Sorry to double post, but I just bought the first season off Amazon. Really excited. Anybody else take the plunge?
It's been on Netflix instant view, so I haven't done it yet. I may have to eventually, though.

Re-watched the blimp episode a few nights ago. I think that, and the episode where Archer goes to the competition may be my two favorites.
I had a $25 Best Buy gift card.

Archer was $22.99.

It was like the universe was trying to tell me something.

And now that 2010 is officially over, I'd like to submit "Pele of anal" as the greatest line uttered on TV this year.
Atlantans, I hear they have a bunch of ARCHER mousepads at Criminal Records, if anyone wants to stop by today for their NYD potluck and buy some stuff/ask for a free mauspad.

EXACT same thing happened to me. Having never seen an episode, this show is delightfully crass.

Martianman: I checked netflix instant a few days ago, Archer wasn't available
post #45 of 192
That's why I bought it, it was taken off Netflix

It's a conspiracy!

It's a rigid airship. Anyway, my favorite is still Diversity Hire. I think I watched that one 3 times in 2 days and laughed like an idiot every time.
I'm purely speculating, but I'm guessing after the trickle that have been this season's It's Always Sunny...'s online availability, FX is being especially stingy with its successful shows.

Random question -- anyone know where I can get my hands on an ARCHER script? Not just a transcript. Proper script.
