Yeah, I didn't buy that part either, although I appreciated that they got Olyphant back and at least tried to wrap up that character's arc.

My other nitpick is that the flash-forward scenes from earlier in the season where it first looked like Tom and Ellen were having an affair, then later appeared that they were going to start a firm together, were left unresolved.

Carradine and Noonan were a bit wasted in the end, but the hallucination/dream twist was pretty awesome. Definitely a twist that makes you want to re-watch the season.

But the return of Wes and Ray was worth the price of admission alone.

THe last 30 minutes were a non stop ride. Fantastic television.
And Lenny and his dad got away! I want a spin off show of just them.

I also don't buy Wes turning himself in, but Timothy Olyphant just makes everything better.
They even call him a "cowboy" haha. Synergy!

Also loved the baby mama telling her she 'could play parlor games, too." Just the look that Close gave her as she was walking away I knew she'd get her back. And how...

It's still a little harsh to do what she did. And with no good reason. Jill (Is she Jill? don't remember) stood by Michael all along.

The finale was pretty good. I was psyched to see Wes back but that whole end of the episode was just horrible. Everything else was pretty great. Great closure for Marilyn but I wish Joe had a last scene with his wife and son. It would be great to see him realize just how much he lost.

Does anyone know what FX is up to? Any new series coming down the line? Hopefully they give us one more season. If I'm not mistaken isn't this the last season for Rescue Me?

Not sure what F/X has in store. SOA is returing in Sep. and I just read the Hal Holbrook will be playing Katey Segal's father. Should be interesting. I'm sure they have some good show/s in pipeline, they keep coming up with great projects.

As for Damages, I really enjoyed the ending, thought they did a much better job than Season 2's ending which left me with mostly questions and few answers. The way the flashforwards played out made perfect sense. Where the writers really excelled was in constantly keeping the viewer asking questions and being proven wrong. Case in point: Lily Tomlin jumping to her death was a total shocker. I was certain it was Tom, then I thought it was going to be Joe. Same thing with the driver that crashed into Patty, had no idea it would turn out to be her son. Very nice to see Lenny get away. Certainly hope to see more of Martin Short in dramatic roles.

I have heard the DirecTV runor also. I would love to see Damages return. But, if this the end at least they went out on high note. It was certainly a good 3 year run.

Lenny's Dad totally got away and what about Mr Zedek or Zebek or whatever's Junior's name was on this?.

I'm thinking that Lenny made a some kind of deal with his dad. Remember we did see him pose as Mr. Zedek to make the cash withdrawl even going so far as having a fake passport. I don't think he could have done all that without Lenny's help.

As for the real Mr. Zedek its probable he got the hell out dodge when Joe confessed to Tom's murder. Joe was no doubt going to sell out everyone he could to get a lighter sentence.

Picked up by Direct TV for another 20 episodes (2 seasons x 10). Wowzer.

Good thing I just got DirecTV last month.

Yeah, this is great news.
Let's see who else they get for the cast. I do hope Short returns.

I wonder how DirectTV is going to swing this financially. Will they have the same clout as FX to get in so many big names for the ensemble guests?

Good to hear. Glenn Close is so good as Patty Hewes.

"The show’s budget will remain unchanged. The only difference is the next two seasons will be 10 episodes apiece (instead of 13), and the absence of commercials means producers have an extra 15 or so minutes to play around with each week."

As always, DAMAGES was in its third season good TV. It was not quite as strong as in the past, and felt as if it lacked the propulsive narrative of the first seasons, but it was still compelling. In the end, it felt like Patty got sidelined for too much of the action, as I just don't find Rose Byrn or Tate Donovan interesting enough on their own to want to spend the vast majority of most episodes in their company. In fact, kind of glad Tate Dnavan is now dead, as I never liked his character in the first place. Over all the Tobins were intriguing and well cast, but it was just a very low energy season

MVP: Cambell Scott

He was doing consistently amazing work, and by the end I felt he'd turned in a masterful performance, creating one of the great TV characters of the past few years.. I really wish he'd gotten more scenes with Glen Close

His line where he tells Martin Short his father called Short "his little monkey" just gave me chills. So cruel!

PS I was kind of let down to see how the show seemingly rushed to close long standing hanging plot threads inelegantly and all in a bunch right in the last few episodes. Olyphant shows up and essentially exists entirely to deliver exposition to Ellen. Is the show over? If not, if there is an S4, I feel like they should have kept some of those reveals for the final season

After reading over the thread about the future of the show, I think fewer episodes, commercial free will be a great thing creatively for the series. Television should focus on quality, not quantity, and perhaps the lack of commercial breaks and need to stretch things out will result in a tightly plotted season that doesn't feel the need to rely so much on cliffhangers and shocking reveals (not that DAMAGES hasn't had some good ones over the years)
