Midlake - The Courage of Others

NPR's got the album stream, and I believe it's in stores on 2/2.

It already leaked.

I'm sooooooo buying that. It has less stellar singles, like Roscoe and Young Wife, but I'm sold.

Small Mountain and Children of the Ground are barely stand out of this great album.

Thanks again for making me discover the band, Matt. Van Occupanther was stellar, and this one might top it.

They went even further down the folky 70s art rock rabbit hole with this one, which is fine with me, but I do find it a bit samey. Practically every track sounds like a variation of one of the foreboding acoustic guitar/mellotron/flute songs on In The Court of the Crimson King. Don't get me wrong, I like it a lot, but I think I still prefer Van Occupanther.

While everyone is loving this album, or at least liking it, Pitchfork shows retardation with a 3.6 note. And the review? Garbage, as usual.

I've heard a lot of this group on NPR the last couple days and have definitely loved what I've heard.

I literally picked up Van Occupanther last week. Probably the most accessible album I've listened to in the last year. I might give it a few months, but I imagine I'll be picking this one up too.
