Yeah, I want to find some way to fix his armor though. Does he spend the rest of the game looking like he just crawled out of a blender? Turian's got some battle damage.

That was freaking hilarious. "Good Captain, bit of a Cloaca, though..." and then making fun of his speeches. Apparently he gave them often.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think you can change your party members' appearances after you complete their loyalty quests. Or maybe it's linked to your morality meters or something. I'm not really sure. From what I've seen in ads/promo videos I'm pretty sure Miranda can get an all-black number and Subject Zero can get something that covers a little more of her skin (but why would we want that?). Not sure about anyone else, but non-battle-damaged Garrus should be a no-brainer.

Not going to happen in my game.

It's no big deal on Garrus. I just feel sorry for him, poor guy really looks like he's been through the mill.
Christ when Garrus hit the floor at the end of the archangel mission, I was watching that pool of blue blood spread out from him and thinking back to stuff I had read about how party members could die. I honestly thought I had fucked up and not taken out the gunship soon enough or something.

It wasn't a "oh shit I guess I better reload an old save" moment, it was "Oh shit I just let a friend die" moment. Great storytelling as always.

I just did Zaeed's side mission, and contrary to the sentiments I see in a lot of places I kinda like the guy. He's a good fit with the renegade soldier I imported, and after I basically told the miners to go screw themselves and carried on after Vido or whatever his name was, I was kinda tickled that the rest of the mission was accompanied by the sounds of explosions and screaming miners in the background.

Yeah, I was preparing to plow through all that stuff again just to save him, but I waited it out just in case.

I had a harder time of the Horizon mission than the Archangel mission. I have no idea why. And goddamn if I wasn't thinking the same thing CountZero did. I thought 'oh shit, he died!? I screwed up!'

I love Grunt's speech about hating Turians but not Garrus.

I've somehow got onto the romance path with Jack despite wanting the romance path with Miranda.

Right now I'm post-Horizon, tonight I'll be working on the loyalty missions (so far I've got Miranda's, Jacob's and Jack's to do).

I was also happy to see the 'Retrain Powers' option too, since after a while I realized how much I relied on my incendiary ammo and not as much on the adrenaline.
Incidentally, I've been enjoying my post-mission chats with Yeoman Chesty La Rue a.k.a. Bonita Lipps a.k.a. Kelly Chambers. Shepard becomes this glorious slimeball whenever she's around.
"We've all put a lot of faith in you, Shepard."
"I'd like to put a lot of penis in you, Kelly."
Shit, should I have embraced her instead of catching her? I should have embraced her.
With your penis.
Chambers has never interested my Shepard all that much. It's like 'give me my mail, tell me the crew needs to talk to me, shut up'. Are there any actual Chambers related missions? I hadn't thought of that until now.

I hope this is real, because that would be one of the classic achievement names of all time.
Actually it'd be better if it was

ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED
One In The Chamber - 10G

(No, it isn't real.)

Was it ever confirmed that she's even romanceable? I'd almost prefer it if they left her as the Normandy's flirty moneypenny character.

It's a little unclear. I'm pretty sure she's not a fully "romanceable" character in the sense that I don't think she has a cutscene for "doing the deed" (but I could be wrong). In fact I'm not even 100 percent sure Shepard can score with her. So she may in fact be the Moneypenny of the Normandy SR-2.

I am pretty sure that "romancing" Kelly doesn't interfere with any of the other romance tracks. I've heard some folks saying she's kind of like a more chatty/involved version of the Consort (Everyone else get the mail message from Sha'ira, BTW?), or like some of the other characters you can sleep with in Dragon Age but aren't in a "romance" with. But yes, Shepard really does break out some cheesy lines while flirting with her. I was really torn between "Forget Garrus, hug me instead" and "Wait, you want to get nailed by a Turian?" just because I suspect her response to the latter might be pretty amusing.

But I really don't know for sure. I've only recruited Mordin and Garrus (and Zaeed) so far. I've been obsessively mining resources in the first few systems and performing little side missions/tasks which has sucked up a fair amount of time.
I gotta get more credits kinda freaking out about being below 100000 credits gimme credits where are the credits
post #69 of 728
I don't mind the "memory" matching mini game. But the one were you have to find lines of code is pissing me off. It kicks me out permanantly every time I move over a red box, even if I don't click on it.
Well... that's.. because they're obstacles. You're supposed to avoid the red boxes. That's the challenge.
I don't mind the memory matching mini game either; I don't have that much of a problem with the code one either. What's really pissing me off is the lack of platinum in planets I've mined recently. The first few planets that I mined had tons of platinum but I've mined 10-12 and little to no platinum. I've got iridium and (surprisingly) element zero up the yazoo.

Last time I had enough of it though, I spent it on the Krogan shotgun.

I also love the Collector Particle Beam too. I have a high amount of heavy weapons researched for some reason and no pistols or heavy pistols. Except for the Carnifex or whatever it's called.
Man, how are you guys not finding platinum? I've got like 80000 platinum. I got more platinum than the Beatles and Michael Jackson combined.

More romance achievements that SHOULD BE IN THIS GAME

Jacob's Ladder - 10G
Charmin' Miranda - 10G
Mordin a Feeling - 10G
Tali me Banana - 10G
...And Moan - 20G

I've got like 90000 iridium. I'll trade you.

And those achievements are comedy gold.

"Tali me Banana" just about caused a Coke Zero spit take. That is great.

Yeah yeah, this games a deadset classic no doubt.

Played the Archangel mission last night and ending up with Robo-Garrus made me smile all over.

It's the little things in the game so far I'm really in love with tho. The news reportsd on the Citadel, many of which give you updates on stories and choices you personally made in the first game, or getting the brandy for the Doc and you and her reliving old times over it while you emotionally toast those who didn't make it - then being a bit drunk after.

I could have played this game all night to be honest - it took every ounce of willpower I had to go to bed.
I've been playing ME2 and for the most part it's exceeding my hopes and expectations. Even my fears about Subject Zero, in that she would come off in the game all "SUBJECT ZERO IS MIRACLE WHIP AND SHE WILL NOT TONE IT DOWN"-ish edgy have been allayed...mostly.

Amusing, yes, but I kind of wish they'd recorded unique dialogue for each shop you endorse. At least Shepard wouldn't look like quite as much of a dork for hunting down those endorsements. Though I do like that you can use your fame to your advantage in some cases.

I figured that after you endorsed a second shop with the same phrase, you'd get Renegade points instead of Paragon, and was kinda surprised they didn't go that way. I guess being an opportunist who trades in on one's fame is a virtue, not a vice.

Holy hell do I love this game though. Bring on all the horse-armor-ish DLC ya want, Bioware. You're welcome to my patronage.
hahahaha I love that

I've got all the main party members but Thane tonight, and I've got Garrus, Mordin and Grunt's side-quests to do. Tali's sidequest was great. I was talking to a friend about it, and while we both finished it and gained Tali's loyalty, we had pretty different outcomes for it. Also, the fact that Claudia Black plays MORRIGAN THE QUARIAN is pretty great, too. Another of the Quarians you deal with heavily is voiced by Loghain as well. It's like a Dragon Age reunion tour!
MORRIGAN THE QUARIAN is the one that gets accused by C-Sec and the volus, right? I just did that one last night before bed. This game makes me wish I was an insomniac again.

Another question! Did anyone get the Cerberus cache quest from Aria, and if so how many fucking crates were left when you were done? You start out with 20, but by the time I took out all three of the YMIR robots I only had 8 left. And what do you get from/for them, a certain amount of credits from Cerberus per crate?

Yeah, I was totally thinking that the multi-endorsement would somehow bite you in the butt, however it doesn't appear so.

As far as virtue/vice, I look at it this way - it's a fair trade, as opposed to conning or bullying your way into a discount. It only seems odd because apparently every store is "Shepard's favorite."

No, I'm pretty sure the Quarian on the Citadel was someone else. Didn't sound at all like Claudia Black (actually sounded more like Liz Sroka doing double-duty).

As for the crates, I think it's like 180 credits per crate or something.

Completely unrelated voice-actor side-note: I really found myself wishing that Michael Hogan had voiced Zaeed (not that his current voice isn't amusing) or one of the other party members instead of the fairly minor NPC role he has.

No, I'm talking about a Quarian Admiral played by Claudia Black that's essentially just Morrigan in an enviro-suit. She's part of Tali's loyalty mission, not the one on the Citadel.

I had 10 crates left on that mission, I think you just get more credits the more crates are intact is all.
I had 10 crates left as well. The first time in I got stomped to hell and had to retool my team.

Man, Alex was NOT kidding about Jacob's loyalty mission. That was dark as hell. And seriously not what I was expecting.

I'm in Illium now. Met with Liara, ready to go through Miranda's loyalty mission and recruit Thane and Samara.
Say (hypothetically) one were to ACCIDENTALLY stab oneself with a letter opener - what would be the ideal (HYPOTHETICAL) location to (ACCIDENTALLY) do it that would produce a lot of blood (with the ultimate result of one getting to go home from work) yet would not hinder one's ability to use a controller?

thanksguys

Also, I'm torn between missing the Mako and saying "fuck the Mako". I got the planet scanning upgrade which makes the process go quite a bit faster, and I've also upgraded a lot of stuff on the ship already. Still gotta get more mineralz.

Yeah, Jacob's mission made me feel genuinely uncomfortable. I really think that they've made some real breakthroughs in storytelling and eliciting emotional responses from the player in a lot of ways. This is maybe the first game where I'm really willing to say it feels like an interactive movie.

Talk to everyone and upgrade everything that you can, otherwise your crew might end up paying for it...

Am I the only one staying loyal to their romance character in ME1? lol. I picked Ashley. Miranda is very tempting but playing shep as a paragon.
