Mass Effect 2 Post-Release - Page 15

I found it a great mission, really enjoyed it. Plus Kasumi is ace, she's genuinely enthusiastic about tagging along as opposed to everyone else (bar Grunt) being so angsty and miserable about it all. And her Shadowstep is the proverbial dog's bollocks, especially the way she gives a little Nelson laugh after killing something with it.

As for the story in the mission, it certainly peaked my curiosity - was that a Sovereign schematic in there? Is the Alliance doing something with Reaper tech or is the Council compromised and the Alliance knows about it? Questions, questions...

The vaul's contents were great,a dn the mission was fun, short and sweet; Kasuma was a good character, and worked very well in battle.
No idea how the'll incorporate the ending mission choice into ME3; what was shown seemed very important.

You mean keeping the memory, as opposed to trashing it? It means there will be at best a new dialogue tree. It's amusing to see new dialogue options crop up as a result of Shepard's choices, but free will has been shown to be meaningless in the Mass Effect universe.

Yeah, the cheapest way around this has to be the Hologram Council.
On the other hand, if Bioware actually did all of this, ME3 would release in 12 years or so.
lets just be tahnful that we dont have something like "And now here comes the revelation that will shock the universe to its core and change everything! Wait, you didnt buy that DLC? Fine, we'll skip that....you cheap bastard"

To be fair, it's reasonable to expect everything major to pay off in the final game. Some assholes are going to be going up against the Reapers near enough alone while I'm going to be smashing their stupid mecha-Cthulhu faces in with my RACHNI ARMADA.

...along with my Quarian and Krogan allies. I'm'a fuck the Reapers up, yo.

Here's betting the Rachni get a five second cutscene in 3.

Not that I'm complaining, since I love both games. If we can't have both, I'd rather have a good game with interesting characters than a callback engine that creates wildly divergent outcomes from Shepard's decisions.

It looked like a Sovereign/Reaper schematic, yeah.

My SWAG (Scientific Wild Ass Guess): The Alliance is complicit with the Council in covering up the whole "Reaper" business, and just might be the ones that have the evidence that Shepard would need to prove his case and are holding it back for their own political reasons (and leaving both Anderson and Shepard out to dry).

Alternately: Maybe it has something to do with the real reason behind that "outreach program" the Alliance was working on with the Terminus Systems? (and that Alenko or Williams was assigned to following Shepard's "death?")

I was kind of expecting we'd get more explanation as to what the data entailed exactly, especially since I would've imagined we wouldn't get much payoff for it in the next game. It sounded like a Big Deal (tm).

Finally beat this last night. Lost Tali and Grunt in the suicide mission. Not so concerned gameplay wise since I never used either of them, but story wise, they were part of the two races that threatened to whup Shepard's ass if they didn't come home alive. We'll see how that plays out in the third game. Debating whether to retry the final mission or not. I kinda like that outcome, in an odd way. Better than losing someone like Mordin, which probably would've forced me to reset that game right then and there.

After the game ended, finally created the hostile red-headed female bitch Shepard I always wanted, and actually started a new game already. I NEVER do that with RPGs. I couldnt even do the original KOTOR again for a few months after beating it.

Such the fantastic game.

I actually finished this that weekend too, Justin...although i didn't lose anyone and I kicked the collector's collective ass....and then said "fuck you" to the Illusive Man, too.
Loved the post final mission conversations, specially Legion's.
Fantastic game, and you bet i'm going back for second helpings.

Wow, we must all play at similar speeds. I finished it the middle of last week and loved every minute of it. Like ryoken, I somehow lost no one in the final mission, despite staying spoiler-free on all end-game matters until after completion. (This might be due to my OCD-esque compulsions to complete every side mission, get all the ship upgrades, etc.) I did lose half my crew though when I was a little lazy about heading off for the final battle. If only I had known. Sorry 'bout that, Kelly.

Letting Kelly die ... big mistake. Her after-credits scene is great.

Fun Fact: You can romance every crew member, including Kelly, after-credits if you simply terminate each relationship once it has reached its ... climax.

Mass Effect 2=tour de force.

Ha, I did this with the first Mass Effect. I liked playing with my crimson bitch femShep so much that when I started ME2 I chose to continue her game first instead of my primary Pargaon maleShep.

Being renegade in this one is oh so much more fun than being a goody two shoes.

Yeah, I played through the first one as a noble, level-headed paragon, but for some reason, I wasn't nearly as nice this time around. (Maybe the sequel's story lends itself more toward being a hardass.) I still smile thinking about the time I shoved some poor Eclipse Merc asshole out of a window while he was in mid-conversation.
So, I tried to play on INSANE for mt second playthrough....for about one hour, since the game is unblanced as hell in that mode.
Will try to be more evil this time around, but I doubt i'll be bale to do it...im too nice.

Just played the demo of the PS3 version of this and I have to say that I'm impressed that they don't have any of the crappy framerate issues that plagued Dragon Age on the PS3. This one looks pretty good.

I haven't played the 360 version since last March though so I haven't really done a straight up comparison of the two.
I started singing "I NEED YOU NOW, MORE THAN WORDS CAN SAY I NEED YOU NOOOW" after the demo.
Thought I'd try out the PS3 demo just for giggles and while the frame rate and texturing are better, holy moley is the screen tearing a pain. The lighting's a bit suspect too. A pity, as I was hoping/expected an improvement all round given they mentioned it's running on the ME3 engine. Ah well, I'm sure the PS3 players will, as Shep would say, DEAL WITH IT.
Put this game down after my first playthrough in Jan, but have been playing it again and loving it still

This is my first game since downloading all the DLC. Really impressed by those bonus missions. Overlord and Lair of the Shadowbroker really standout........the Hammerhead is pretty fun and sure gives it that Mako like feel thats been missing.....

Hope they bring back vehicles for Mass Effect3

This is also my first time playing it since hooking up my 5.1 and love the sound work done on this one
post #720 of 728
Yeah, I just finished the PS3 demo and I'm hooked. Pre-ordering this sucker now.
Was watching G4 this evening, and the newsfeed mentioned that Lair of the Shadow Broker, the "Overlord" pack, and Kasumi's Stolen Memory are each going for 200 points right now, over on Xbox LIVE.

This sounds like a 24-hour sale, but dunno for sure.

It may have been; yeah, they were all 200 points each. For couple bucks each, people can play some crazy good dlc for cheap....

Anyone hear word if more DLC will be coming? Any hope for a 'bridging' type DLC that ties ME2 and ME3 together?
Shadow Broker is the last one till ME3.
Incorrect, Bioware are on record in the last couple of months as saying there will be more DLC before ME3. Probably waiting for the PS3 release before any details will be revealed though.
Yeah, it was confirmed by one of the devs over on the BioWare boards a few weeks ago that there's more DLC on the way.

Likely something "bridging" ME2 and ME3 together (like was originally promised for ME1 and ME2), but as Sentinel mentions -- they're probably waiting for a locked-down, bug-free PS3 release before giving us any more details on it.

They put it up on the Cerebus Network that one more DLC is coming.......hoping for something quite substantial, of course!

So I had never played the ME games before about two weeks ago.  But then I found them on sale and I thought "Hey, what the hell?"

Today I beat ME2.

NEED ME3 NOW

Time for a new Shepard, I think.  Male Shepard, call him Adrian, pretend that the G-Man sent him into the future after Black Mesa.

Oh yeah, the PS3 version's 'interactive comic' thing is going to be available to download for the PC and 360 versions too so those who didn't have a Mass Effect save to import are finally* freed from the shackles of racist god botherers and dead Krogan superbros. It only covers the main stuff, though, so the Virmire deaths, the Rachni Queen, the fate of the Destiny Ascension, <maybe> the fate of Shiala and the Zhus' Hope colonists but not side missions like Helena Blake, Lord Darius, all the Noveria shenannigans and the Admiral Kahoku/Cerberus/Corporal Toombs stuff.

* Or you could just use one of the Mass Effect save sites dotted about the web instead!
