(Okay, Technically it is Cinefest being run by TLA)
I saw 500 Days of Summer, Hurt Locker, Brothers Grimm, and Moon all at the festival last year. In The past 6 years I've seen Hard Candy, The Proposition, Mysterious Skin, Layer Cake, and other great indies at the festival.
There will be still be the Fall Festival which is called the Philadelphia Film Festival being run by the the Philadelphia Film Society

| CineFest canceled The Philadelphia Cinema Alliance announced yesterday that the April 8-19 Philadelphia CineFest has been canceled. PCA Development Director Thom Cardwell says that the festival will return in 2011 and that a lack of sponsorship made "the fiscal planning of the event too daunting." CineFest debuted last spring under the helm of TLA Video owner Ray Murray, artistic director of the Philadelphia Film Festival for nine years, after he and J. Andrew Greenblatt, executive director of the Philadelphia Film Society, had a falling out, leading to Greenblatt's camp's staging the PFF in September. "As the original organization responsible for bringing the beauty and depth of film to the masses in Philadelphia, we are confident in our ability to produce a movie festival in 2011 that honors this tradition," Murray said. |
