That sounds pretty hilarious, honestly.

Hmm, I wonder if it's the same Scary Movie that had a gag I loved, where Anna Faris is looking up some shit on the internet, and the soundtrack sounds a fog horn to signal the change of the locale, and she jumps at it, and then the scene jumps to the boat/ferry/Ring parody whatever. Don't know if I described it right, but it's a great little movie joke.

Oh shit, I just admitted I've seen a Scary Movie.

Damn the Wayans!

I enjoy I'M GONNA GIT YOU SUCKA and DON'T BE A MENACE TO SOUTH CENTRAL WHILE DRINKING YOUR JUICE IN THE HOOD.

Also, the FRIDAY series w/ Ice Cube. Part three is actually pretty funny with Terry Crews as a homo thug trying to fuck Kat Williams.
Never saw the Zucker Scary Movies, but I'll cop to LOVING the Wayans Brothers ones. Well, Scary Movie 2 because that's the one where two gags stick out.

It's been awhile and I've only seen the movie once, but here they are:

-The opening Exorcist parody where the James Woods* priest character gets a very good look at possessed Natasha Lyonne and says "FUUUUCK THIS!", and trying to bail out as soon as he can. Its a pretty screwed up situation and I don't blame him for it!

-The scene, which is all about the set up, where all the characters try to find ghost residue in a room. David Cross explains to everyone that the room is about to be backlit for the purpose to detect ANY fluid, strongly inferring that this includes gonad gumbo.

ESPECIALLY GONAD GUMBO.

So anyway, the backlight comes on and there's various stains on all the chicks' clothes, but the characters laugh at David Cross because he has a big stain all over his face. What makes this funny is that he's all like "What's so funny?" (God I'm horrible)

*Here's some useless trivia: Marlon Brando, according to the internet, was REALLY close to playing the James Woods character. I think I read that he was even on set, but had to bow out due to medical complications. I am not making this up.

Yeah, the James Woods (and Andy Richter) bit is funny. It's also the pretitle joke, and it's all downhill from there.

The first Scary Movie I think is legitimatley funny.

Third on the Can't Hardly Wait love.

I really, really like Four Brothers. I think it's a real good action/vengeance movie with a cool seventies vibe, and it has all these weird little comedy moments, like one brother nonchalantly taking a shit at the same time another brother is taking a shower. Another brother comes in and asks one of them to look at his dick and tell him if he's got an STD or rugburn.

It also has Chewitel Ejiofore as the bad guy who makes an underling and his wife eat food from the floor like dogs.

I like how all his henchmen turned on him at the end. His death was seriously earned.

While John Singleton is on my mind, I really liked his revamp of Shaft. Geoffrey Wright stabbing himself with a tiny dagger was all sorts of hilarious and weird.

He fucking OWNS that movie. Also, taking a shit in front of Christian Bale. I LOL'd.
My brother actually argued for a long time that "John Carpenter's Vampires" belonged on this thread.
Also, maybe it doesn't actually belong here, but I LOVE Jean Reno's "Wasabi"; it has Reno taking on a gang of bank robbing transvestites and carole Bouquet, for hell's sake!

Wright's performance makes it easy to forget Christian Bale was even in it. Which is no easy task because this was released soon after Bale made his mark with American Psycho.

Hell, I remember Bale talking about wanting to be in the movie because he had a pretty good fight scene with Sam Jackson in an airplane hanger, or something. I even remember that being in the trailers. That scene got COMPLETELY cut because they did reshoots so Wright could be in it more. His performance was making the test screenings go BEZERK.

This may explain as to how Bale started being a grouch. He stated on record that the airport hanger fight scene getting cut disappointed him pretty fierce.

I actually always felt the movie completely wastes Bale's character and performance; Wright's role as Peoples Hernandez is great, but the movie suffers quite a bit from juggling and not fully using its two villians.

I would agree with that, most definitely.

Here's another one that I confess to liking: Daredevil. I think it actually gets some stuff right, but I howled in laughter when Ben Affleck holds a thug against the subway tracks and says "See that light at the end of the tunnel? That's not heaven. THAT'S THE D TRAIN!" (paraphrased)
I also have to cop to loving Can't Hardly Wait. Or at least really liking it anyway. I don't really care for the main Jennifer Love Hewitt/Ethan Embree plot, but everything else is outstanding.

Four Brothers is lots of fun. Wahlberg is almost as funny as in The Departed.

"Man, I will drink you under the table!"
"We're not talking about sperm, Jack. THIS IS WHISKEY."

"The popos is here! Ya'll better run, man, these white cops are crazy! They killed Cornbread! They killed him - he didn't do nothin'! "

All this love for Can't Hardly Wait is awesome. A seriously underrated comedy. The one movie that people seem to have a soft spot for that I don't get is She's All That.
The first two Problem Child movies are really watchable. As is Clifford.

3000 Miles to Graceland is a hilariously shameless Reservoir Dogs ripoff. I don't own it, but I kind of love it.

ANY bad 80's or early 90's action movie is fair game for me liking.
I own and purposefully watch The Replacements at least a couple of times a year. It's nothing but cliches and stolen gags, and yet I love it. Favreau shoving Orlando Jones into the locker during the interview gets me every time. Hell, Favreau just about steals the movie for as little as he's in it.

Jesus guys are we doing this thread yet again???

Really??

Couldn't we have just bumped the last dozen threads with this exact subject matter instead of starting yet another?

...oh and Troy, I also adore Popeye
I like Scary Movie, Event Horizon, Not Another Teen Movie, and Mars Attacks!

Also: The Beach (is this hated? It seems to be split), and Eight Legged Freaks.
I'm going to add my name to the list of Popeye lovers around these parts, because fuck it. I love that movie (seriously, love it), and I don't really care who knows it. Of course, anyone who regularly visits the "I'm about to watch..." thread already knows this.

This one may also be common knowledge, as I've made no secret about it, but I not only own a copy of Zardoz on DVD, I actively enjoy it as well. Seriously, I've watched it several times.

Also, I still love The Goonies and TRON, and fuck you.

I'm can't justify my love of these films in any way, nor will I ever try to defend them as "good" movies. I just love them, and I'm okay with that.

Son In Law is greatness, and count me in on the Popeye love. I was just singing the Wimpy "Everything is food!" song the other day.
The Beach was fucking horrific. No idea how Danny Boyle managed to win an Oscar after making that piece of shit, let alone a few good movies.
I'll admit that i liked 8 Legged Freaks. I always get a laugh out of the Oswald's Gun stuff.
I think RAT RACE is hilarious.

Also, I don't think anyone would really claim EVENT HORIZON to be that bad, even though it steals its central concept from King's The Jaunt.

Just a quick announcement: this thread was a trap. Armed guards have been placed at the exits, so please do not attempt to leave.

Okay, boys, lock it up!

What you're smelling now is chlorine gas. I admit that it isn't the most humane way to handle the problem, but it's really cheap to make.

Okay, so, I'd say it was nice knowing you guys, but you know, come on.

Pauly Shore. Jesus.

Yo, BREAKING NEWS: Read the title of thread: I DO have bad taste, and that's okay.

Participate in the thread convo/have fun and/or GTFO. You tend to be snarky with your troll comments. So, who cares if one Chewer likes a bad Pauly Shore movie.

BACK ON TOPIC:

RUSH HOUR series - I've got no shame.
The first 2 are okay. But the third one? DAMM!

I like Knock Off. Does that make me a bad person?
I bet my dad liked that Ice Spiders movie someone mentioned. If it's on SyFy and involves killer animals of any sort, he will watch it and enjoy the fact that I think it's odd he'd like those movies. I find it very endearing that my father would willingly taunt me with his bad movie tastes.

As for myself I like Can't Hardly Wait, Not Another Teen Movie, Overnight Delivery as well. I have an affinity for the Halloween series that doesn't make a lot of sense to anyone including myself.

Also I have a friend who loves Twilight and attempts to ambush me with Twilight conversations and tries to talk me into watching the movies and I still call her a friend, haha.

"8 Legged Freaks" is awesome, as any movie that features giant jumping spiders chasing kids on dirtbikes should be; plus it has a smoking hot Kari Wuher in it!
On the negative side, I'm pretty sure some sick bastard out there gets off on that scene with Scarlet Johanson's first Spider attack....you know what I'm talking about, you perverts!

Chlorine? You couldnt afford something more fashionable, you cheap bastard?
You're in the thread as well...you'll die along someone who likes a Pauly Shore movie and will probably be buried along in mass grave.
I wish I had a solid objective explanation why I own the first three American Pie movies on DVD or why I still pull them out once a year, or why I still laugh at them/find them oddly sweet, ultimately good-hearted movies, but I don't. I just do.
The first one is still hilarious, on par imho with There's Something About Mary. Even if just for the strange echoing assistant Lacrosse coach.

That was me, and your father is indeed a remarkable breed. Then again, I have very close friends who watch whatever terrible Stargate happens to be on tv, so I guess I can relate.

I seem to remember you admitting to a fondness for Popeye once as well, so you might want to make sure your gas mask is working properly before you deploy that gas, my friend.

I'll go on record as saying it; Event Horizon is terrible. TERRIBLE. I used to actually like it, and then I bought on DVD. That was a mistake, because watching it a second time just drove home how completely awful, boring, and stupid it really is.

But hey, if you like it, I'm not going to bust your chops for liking it, considering my admissions earlier in the thread.
I legitimately enjoy the films of Stephen Sommers (though I haven't seen Deep Rising yet, and watching a few minutes of The Mummy Returns on one of its many TV airings was enough to convince me, "Yeah, this kind of blows"), even Van Helsing, as well as The Scorpion King, Congo, Mortal Kombat (the first one) and XxX.

Oh, and I also echo the Kung Pow appreciation: "The Chosen One learned a very important lesson about iron claws that day.... THEY HURT LIKE CRAP, MAN!"

The Robert Altman movie? I thought most people liked that...

Anyways, I'll throw Death to Smoochy into things. I liked it in theaters. Though I don't like it nearly as much when I saw it on tv, there's a perverse sort of catharsis I get from watching it.

There's a moment in Can't Hardly Wait, when the cops are busting the party, where some guy comes rappelling down out of nowhere that never fails to crack me up. It's out of nowehere and completely ridiculous but perfectly in keeping with the tone of absolute panic that sequence has.

If i remember right, "Death to Smoochy" has the CHUD seal of approval (that review was lost to the great deluge, i believe).
i still remember the "cookies baked in the best shape possible" line from that review.

I unabashedly love 1941. It's loud and sloppy and makes absolutely no sense in places, but it still makes me laugh. Plus I love the model work, especially the planes, and Spielberg directs the hell out of the dance/fight scene. Still makes me want to see him tackle a musical.

'Man in the Iron Mask'. Byrne, Irons, Depardieu, and Malkovich are having so much fun with their roles that I get sucked in every time that it's on. The end sequence, where nobody can shoot them, gets me every time. Fuck it, I like it.

'The Shadow'. I love it, flaws and all. It's got a bizarre sense of humor to it that just kills me whenever I watch it.

The 'Highlander' films. Only the original film can be defended, but God help me, I watch them whenever they're on...even 'Highlander 2: the Quickening' (which is so bad that it's entertaining).
