Joe Quesada, "Heroes will be heroes again." - Page 2

I'm a bit older, but my high school handed out graphing calculators that were $150-200 at the time. Nowadays, it's cheap laptops, but giving out tech like this is standard. Kids have to start learning computers very early so I don't see a school handing out ipads all that farfectched especially as Greg said, knockoffs will lower the price.

You don't need an expensive device even now. Just dl a .cbr reader from anywhere and start reading. It's all very cheap and I think comics can find a mainstream audience again if people saw it easily available on itunes.

If it arrives a few days earlier than the floppy as a digital subscription from itunes, i think people will go for it. However if we have learned anything it's that Marvel will choose the wrong format, the wrong method of distribution and price the whole thing too high - i give you the Spiderwoman motion comic as an example of this.

I read digital comics on a 7" Asus EEEpc it's a perfect size and you can pick them up for less than $200 no problem - parents buy laptops/ netbooks for kids at school all the time now.

The problem with any of these formats is that the comic companies are still in the place that the movie and music business have been for years: they do not want the consumer to have control over the product. Their goal is to rent you the material, but not allow anything even resembling ownership.

Every content provider goes through this phase (anyone old enough to remember when video tapes were available almost exclusively as rental product?). It took the studios years to realize the potential of sell-through on home video, and the record companies the better part of a decade to abandon DRM.

Consumers want to own their stuff, and have it available for them when and where they want it, with no restrictions or propietary formats. The comics companies, like their predecessors, will fight this as long as they can. Whether they'll eventually wise up and capture/expand the digital market remains to be seen.

Well, nobody can complain the Sentry doesn't do anything but mope anymore.

They have announced a few post-siege line ups:

Avengers: Thor, iron man, cap (bucky), spiderwoman and hawkeye (clint).

Thuderbolts: Cage, moonstone, Juggernaut, ghost, manthing (?!).

There's the secret avengers too (although their identities are being teased), probably an ongoing young avengers and, I would expect another group of some kind.

I'm not expecting the sentry to make it out of siege, i think someone (may be ares's son alex) fucks him up.

I've seen speculation based on the silhouettes that it's Beast and Moon Knight in the Secret Avengers so far.

There's plenty of speculation but having seen the Thuderbolts line up - I'd say that all bets are off.

I'd heard taskmaster and black widow - Secret avengers having a brubaker-espionage feel...
