Am I the only one much more interested in seeing the other half of Lucian's tale being the focus of Underworld IV? That seems much more interesting to me than a sequel to Evolution. Plus Michael Sheen is way more compelling on screen than Kate Beckinsale, no matter how tight her leather outfit is. I thought they were just going to do a TV show that was set after Evolution? Oh well.

I find the films rather dull and lifeless - but apparently they've made enough money to warrant three of them thus far. Goes to show that being married to a director has its benefits. Having just watched WHITEOUT - I just don't see any quality to consider her a star. Pretty, of course she is. Other than that; nothing more. So, I don't understand why she would want a lesser role, per se. She ain't got nothing else on her plate besides being married to a equally lifeless director husband.

AICN is reporting it might go the "In Space" route. Which would be awesome and retarded at the same time.

This is definitely a series that could stand to get a li'l bit retarded. While I haven't seen the third, the first two are sleep-inducing bores. It's been said time and again, but werewolves and vampires shooting at one another a bunch of times between bouts of boring conversation does not a good franchise make. Kate Beckinsale is fine eye-candy, but she can fulfill that qualification in picture form rather than make me watch her "act."

Rise of the Lycans/Lucian/Viktor >>>> Underworld Evolution/Selena/Michael.

I'd like to see them do an alternate Underworld where Lucian was not taken out like a sick dog by worthless fucking Kraven.

I'm not a fan of this series, but color me surprised Wiseman is going back to it. Die Hard 4 wasn't a smash or anything but I figured it would get him more A-list(ish) work.

Same here. With him still developing Gears of War and the occasional "Fox & Bruce want to do Die Hard 5" piece, I figured he would be directing one or both of those next and only remain a producer on the Underworld franchise.

BTW, the latest rumors are that Underworld IV will be a sequel to Evolution and will be the final installment in the series. I guess it might make sense that Wiseman wants to be the one to end it. Supposedly they want to take the franchise to television with a series that takes place during the centuries between Rise of the Lycans and the first film. I guess it would be like the Highlander show.........jumping between time periods to tells stories in the past and present. It could work, as long as they rope in some of the stars for the pilot movie (Sheen & Nighy please!) and they snags some solid writing talent. With The Vampire Diaries and True Blood killing in the ratings, now would be the best time to do it.

Ah, this takes me back to a funny conversation a friend and I once had about how you know a horror franchise/character has truly made it into the pantheon if it gets to space. UNDERWORLD is about to be canonized!

These movies aren't even a guilty pleasure for me but I'd almost definitely shell out some scratch to watch one set in space.

I'm waiting for Saw in space. It will be the only thing that will ever get me to pay to see another Saw sequel again.


That said, Underworld in space would be a hoot!
