On Yahoo. I'm thinking about doing 4 leagues again. If you're into it, pop your name and email address in this thread and I'll send you an invite once the registration begins. Also, specify how many leagues you'd like to be in if there's room.

Count me in again (one league, please):

Chris Allen

Nick, I'd like to make a suggestion: If you can, please don't set the Maximum Moves to 'Unlimited'. For the last three years in CHUD #3, Reservoir Dogs has won each year. In each year, he has basically solely won on the number of player moves each day. I'm not sure if this is how everyone else plays, but what starts as a fun league basically comes down to dropping and pickup up active players each day:

2009 - Dogs made 221 moves, 2nd place made 38
2008 - Dogs made 169 moves, 2nd place made 35
2007 - Dogs made 100 moves, 2nd place made 45

Not sure about the previous years, but last year he had a mediocre year until all the moves in the last few weeks. (Yes, I was the second place team.)

I think it would be fair to put a cap on the maximum moves, perhaps 50 or 60 for the season (in the last three years, in CHUD #3 the second most moves was 64.)

I do enjoy playing in your leagues, Nick. Thanks for setting them up.

1 league.

Hopefully we will get a few more active people this year.

If you could get three leagues with 12 teams as opposed to four watered down leagues I'd like to play.

Also, I'd rather play in a moves limited league as well.

How about a Heads-up league?

My schedule has finally settled down with a new job so I'd like to try again.

I'll try to keep up better this time. One league for me.

Glad to be back in. This year I'll actually be able to keep up with it, so hopefully no last place finishes.

Last year, I'd say that was true, but I sort of take a tongue-in-cheek offense to the assertion that I draft "mediocre" teams. In '07 and '08 I think I finished 1st or 2nd in all of the cumulative and average categories, so your argument doesn't really hold water. I tend to rotate one pitcher and fielder a day because bottom of the rotation guys are so inconsistent. Again, raising the amount of teams per league would change this.

It would also probably just be a good idea just to not only limit the number of moves, but to further limit the total number of innings allowed.

Got the email the other day Nick and went ahead and signed up!

Just finished a mock auction draft -- very cool. So glad to see it added to the CHUD leagues (and Yahoo, of course) this year.

I wanna do this but I have NO IDEA how it works. If you guys don't mind helping keep a newbie up to speed then I'm in, but I won't get my feelings hurt if you'd rather keep it to vets.

Are all the drafts on that Saturday? I ask because I work on Saturdays and leave for work at 3:00, which is when the draft in my league starts - And I really want to draft my team and not have it autodrafted

I've joined leagues 2 and 4. I think I'll stick with just the two rather than get too ambitious on my first try.

Just going to say it now.. $60 for Roy Halladay in CHUD #1... boggles the mind

Interesting, that was my first oniine auction draft. I overpaid for Elvis but the later $1 rounds were filled with some pretty good talent.

Were 2 people in a bidding war? Who did it?

Wish I could have got in but didn't know when I'd get back today.

And what's a good strategy? Load up on 5 or 6 big players or 1-2 big players and spread the wealth?

I bid $45 because I thought that would be the upper limit someone would pay, then Big Ben's Judgement came up with the $60 bid.. on autopick no less, the owner wasn't there for the draft today. Needless to say we were all pretty shocked.

I think the strategy is that you pay for top-level talent in non-deep positions, then fill out the rest of your team with good solid cheap guys. I overpaid for four quality starters, but got good closing value late. Didn't get as much steals as I wanted but I got (IMO) pretty decent power.
Not only was it my first fantasy auction, but my first fantasy baseball draft, too. With no rhyme or reason, I locked down 2 premium players at high prices (Hanley and Pujols), got Mauer for less than I expected, and sat out the next hour until I was able to get some late-round value.

I may have done the football equivalent of picking a defense or kicker in the mid-rounds, and my pitching staff probably stinks, but I guess it could have gone worse.
