Comcast says I exceeded my bandwidth

So, I get a voicemail this morning from comcast.

I follow up and the tech tells me I've exceeded my bandwidth usage last month. They say the bandwidth limit is 250gb a month. I told him the only reason would be that I watch alot of netflix streaming.

I ask this tech if I could upgrade to a better plan and he says all the customer plans have the same bandwidth limit.

What would you guys do? I enjoy streaming movies and don't want to stop. Is there another internet service that doesn't have a monthly cap? I wonder how many people have been getting this message with more and more video services coming to the web.

Let me attempt to be the first of many to say: FUCK COMCAST.

ETA: We use an independent ISP based out of Minneapolis called USI Wireless. I would investigate similar options in your area. Never had a problem, and we stream lots of movies for a $5 less than Comcast charges here.

Yep, all of the streaming services are on a collision course with Internet providers, with consumers stuck in the middle. It's why Time-Warner wanted to go to a metered service model in a few test markets, and also why there was a customer revolt when they got wind of said plan.

You're probably stuck with U-Verse or Verizon FIOS as alternatives, depending on where you live and if those services have even been built out to your area.

I've got Verizon DSL - it's only 3 MBS down, but I get 4 dots on Netflix, and nary a peep about tearing up the bandwidth - all for $26 bucks a month.

Isn't America ranked between two third-world countries in terms of connection speed? I honestly hope that in a decade we'll all be laughing at the idea of paying for Internet.

And yeah, fuck Comcast. Bandwidth caps aside, they absolutely throttle connection speeds despite what they may tell you. Getting DirecTV and FiOS was a no-brainer.
